Dominic, Sorry to keep you waiting, I'm talking with the author again. Please wait for a while for the response. Thanks for this. I would be very grateful if you could keep me informed of progress on this; the end of September might be soon enough to be included into the next Debian release. Dominic, I confirmed with the plugin author about it. Unfortunately it is not yet ready to be opened to the public, and requires some more time, probably until the end of September. And the fundamental solution should be to re-design the dashboard without these flash files at the future release of MT. As we have already closed the feature planning phase for 5.1, we will also consider at the one after 5.1 to review this new requirement. Dominic, I cannot guarantee whether it will work or not. But anyway I'll ask the plugin author if he can open the plugin to public. I know one MT4 plugin which will disable the Blog Stats function. It can be a solution, but then we have to create some kind of a dedicated package for the distribution. In any ways, we need more time and probably need a future release to replace the functionality itself. Thanks for your reply. So it sounds like you plan to do some work at Six Apart to help fix this for Debian in the short term by removing the flash functionality? Is that correct? If you can supply a patch against the current source so that the flash files won't be used, I can ensure that they aren't installed in the Debian package; I don't think that a new release tarball will necessarily be needed from you, although I would appreciate any clarification from the bug submitter (as well as any ideas on better ways to proceed). Unfortunately, this licence has been deemed non-DFSG-free: http://wiki.debian.org/DFSGLicenses#CreativeCommonsAttributionLicense.28CC-by.29.2Cv1.0 so I don't think we can leave things as they are in Debian main, even if we could get the correct version of the source code. I'm not sure what the best way to move forward on this, to avoid having to remove MT from Debian main. Does anyone have a feel for how easy it would be to remove the flash without affecting the rest of the functionality of the application? To be honest I don't have much time or energy to devote to this so if there is consensus in Debian that the current situation can't stand, removal, or at least moving to non-free is inevitable.
