Bug#644279: linux-image-2.6.38-bpo.2-686: Disabling IRQ 10 hang and crash laptops, ALL KERNELS on squeeze backports
i'm just test 3.0 3.0.X and works well, when test, works well and then fail, was much more stable and fail once: as I said earlier, each kernel update/change, changes level IDs of sound card by module asigned, then error its now present again. I had to reboot with acpi = off, then restart the sound card with alsactl init and then boot again normally without problem, so does same with the other kernel 2.6.39 and 2.6.32 seem that module for sound card changes every kernel update/change, and the error apaers, but i not sure.. due other day error was on other module.. i will test for a while more, and just report tomorow see you i will hope this help a litte more On Tue, Oct 4, 2011 at 5:27 PM, Ben Hutchings b...@decadent.org.uk wrote: On Tue, Oct 04, 2011 at 03:22:17PM -0430, PICCORO McKAY Lenz wrote: err currently i'm prefer stable.. this trend for lasted software its a windoze think i' talking ab out stable kernel bug, what about that? Bug#644279: linux-image-2.6.38-bpo.2-686: Disabling IRQ 10 hang and crash laptops, ALL KERNELS on squeeze backports
Package: linux-2.6 Version: 2.6.38-5~bpo60+1 Justification: breaks the whole system Severity: critical Tags: d-i upstream The system (independient of kernel even backport version or oficial ) hangs, and stops, i investigated with dmesg, and so then found this trace : irq 10: nobody cared (try booting with the irqpoll option) ..after few second system hangs! The irq acpi asigned its for sound card when acpi are enabled. In next boot i disable acpi complety parsing acpi=off and system works perfectly, this with 2.6.32 or 2.6.38 independiently PLEASE note that the lspci and others results on report was when acpi are disabled! I'v also instaled later 2.6.39 from backport and hands but no rare or weird messages on dmesg where found!!! -- Package-specific info: ** Kernel log: boot messages should be attached root@massenkoh:/var/log# cat dmesg.0 | grep 50 [ 50.898606] irq 10: nobody cared (try booting with the irqpoll option) [ 50.898665] Pid: 0, comm: swapper Not tainted 2.6.38-bpo.2-686 #1 [ 50.898667] Call Trace: [ 50.898677] [c106f1ae] ? __report_bad_irq+0x24/0x69 [ 50.898682] [c106f1b5] ? __report_bad_irq+0x2b/0x69 [ 50.898686] [c106f2da] ? note_interrupt+0xe7/0x13d [ 50.898690] [c106f9f8] ? handle_level_irq+0x66/0x9b [ 50.898694] [c106f992] ? handle_level_irq+0x0/0x9b [ 50.898696] IRQ [c1003e1e] ? do_IRQ+0x2e/0x84 [ 50.898705] [c10349de] ? __do_softirq+0x0/0x14e [ 50.898708] [c10034b0] ? common_interrupt+0x30/0x38 [ 50.898712] [c10349de] ? __do_softirq+0x0/0x14e [ 50.898716] [c103007b] ? console_unlock+0x10f/0x18e [ 50.898722] [c11300d8] ? md5_transform+0x2fc/0x7b9 [ 50.898726] [c1034a1c] ? __do_softirq+0x3e/0x14e [ 50.898729] [c10349de] ? __do_softirq+0x0/0x14e [ 50.898731] IRQ [c1034962] ? irq_exit+0x26/0x59 [ 50.898739] [c1015e54] ? smp_apic_timer_interrupt+0x6b/0x75 [ 50.898745] [c1290ad9] ? apic_timer_interrupt+0x31/0x38 [ 50.898773] [f8126cde] ? acpi_idle_enter_bm+0x247/0x284 [processor] [ 50.898779] [c11e25bf] ? cpuidle_idle_call+0xd4/0x15d [ 50.898782] [c1002201] ? cpu_idle+0x95/0xb0 [ 50.898787] [c13f38a6] ? start_kernel+0x333/0x338 [ 50.898790] handlers: [ 50.898811] [f8480cc5] (sdhci_irq+0x0/0x45f [sdhci]) [ 50.898870] [f82754ed] (tifm_7xx1_isr+0x0/0xb8 [tifm_7xx1]) [ 50.898931] [f82d2f2f] (yenta_interrupt+0x0/0xb5 [yenta_socket]) [ 50.898995] [f8404fdd] (usb_hcd_irq+0x0/0x60 [usbcore]) [ 50.899059] [f8404fdd] (usb_hcd_irq+0x0/0x60 [usbcore]) [ 50.899121] Disabling IRQ #10 root@massenkoh:/var/log# also this weird when acpi are enabled: Sep 12 17:33:19 massenkoh kernel: [ 9.550753] firewire_ohci :07:06.1: PCI INT B - GSI 17 (level, low) - IRQ 17 Sep 12 17:33:19 massenkoh kernel: [ 9.590678] i801_smbus :00:1f.3: PCI INT B - GSI 19 (level, low) - IRQ 19 Sep 12 17:33:19 massenkoh kernel: [ 9.590684] ACPI: I/O resource :00:1f.3 [0x18c0-0x18df] conflicts with ACPI region SMBI [0x18c0-0x18cf] Sep 12 17:33:19 massenkoh kernel: [ 9.590781] ACPI: If an ACPI driver is available for this device, you should us e it instead of the native driver Sep 12 17:33:19 massenkoh kernel: [ 9.604197] iwlagn: Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link AGN driver for Linux, 1.3.27ks Sep 12 17:33:19 massenkoh kernel: [ 9.604200] iwlagn: Copyright(c) 2003-2009 Intel Corporation Sep 12 17:33:19 massenkoh kernel: [ 9.604299] iwlagn :03:00.0: PCI INT A - GSI 17 (level, low) - IRQ 17 Sep 12 17:33:19 massenkoh kernel: [ 9.604335] iwlagn :03:00.0: setting latency timer to 64 Sep 12 17:33:19 massenkoh kernel: [ 9.604395] iwlagn :03:00.0: Detected Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN REV= 0x4 ** Model information TOSHIBA Satellite A205 S4607 ** Network interface configuration: auto lo iface lo inet loopback wlan and eth0 still not active when kernel hands in mayority cases! ** PCI devices: 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/PM/GMS, 943/940GML and 945GT Express Memory Controller Hub [8086:27a0] (rev 03) Subsystem: Toshiba America Info Systems Device [1179:ff10] Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=fast TAbort- TAbort- MAbort+ SERR- PERR- INTx- Latency: 0 Capabilities: access denied Kernel driver in use: agpgart-intel 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:27a2] (rev 03) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Toshiba America Info Systems Device [1179:ff10] Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=fast TAbort- TAbort- MAbort- SERR- PERR- INTx- Latency: 0 Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 11 Region 0: Memory at f0a0 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=512K] Region 1: I/O ports at 1800 [size=8] Region 2: Memory at d000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M] Region 3: Memory at f0b0 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=256K] Expansion ROM at unassigned [disabled] Capabilities:

Hi, PICCORO McKAY Lenz wrote: i' talking ab out stable kernel bug, what about that? ok thanks, i will test again, currently 2.6.39 works well, more stable and do not hang too much, but what about squeeze brand 2.6.32, this fails too! Ah, sorry, that was less helpful than it should have been. I didn't actually answer your question. I'd suggest working on fixing the bootup in 3.x first, in cooperation with upstream. Afterwards, we would make sure the fix works in 2.6.32.y, too (I called this backporting the fix, but it has nothing to do with backports.debian.org). Once you are able to reproduce this with a 3.x kernel, please attach * dmesg output from right after bootup when experiencing the bug (you might need to set up a serial console or netconsole or take a photograph of the screen to get this. A photo is fine.) * dmesg and acpidump output from right after bootup when not experiencing the bug (using acpi=off, noapic, or something like that) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
