Frankly I cannot see anything related to acpi-fakekey here, other than it's
installation triggering the insserv run. What is runmbbservice? Could it be
that you have third party software installed?

You are correct the same results with other init packages.

I agree,  it looks like runmbbservice was something I installed from a
Mobile Broadband device a few days earlier.

The update I performed was the first after the runmbbservice install and it
looks like acpi-fakekey was the first package to get caught up in the mess
caused by the runmbbservice package.

My apologies Michael, for missing the mark with the bugrep and thank you
very much for spotting the real culprit, helping me resolve the issue I had.

With the init scripts for runmbbservice removed the install of acpi-fakekey
and acpi-support completed perfectly.
