There doesn't appear to be much movement on this at all in upstream,
the bug has been open since 2014. There is other upstream activity
though.
Perhaps the best approach would be to drop this specific binary
package for bookworm.
This was already marked as fixed and I cannot reproduce the error description:
"the plugin stays grayed out, the tooltip shows an error message (missing
loader)".
Would you please provide more info?
