Bug#564384: libpoe-component-ikc-perl: FTBFS: tests hang

2010-02-09 Thread Damyan Ivanov
-=| Jonathan Yu, Mon, Feb 08, 2010 at 07:49:16PM -0500 |=-
It looks like the best way to fix this issue is to add a
HAS_INTERNET (or perhaps in this case, HAS_LOCALHOST or HAS_NETWORK)
style flag to disable tests unless it is known that localhost is
 available.

localhost should be available on buildds, no? We already build-depend
on netbase.

Bug#568982: sqldeveloper-package: fails to build debian package, dos2unix is missing, which is not provided from tofrodos anymore

2010-02-09 Thread Michael Musenbrock
Package: sqldeveloper-package
Version: 0.2.3
Severity: grave
Tags: patch
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi there,

Since the tofrodos package removed the symlink 'dos2unix' (which pointed to
/usr/bin/fromdos),
the sqldeveloper package creation is interrupted. So just change the dos2unix
command in the
script to fromdos. (See patch)

To not run into problems if somebody has old sysutils installed and so only the
dos2unix
command exists, I would suggest to remove sysutils from the dependency:
tofrodos | sysutils (= 2.0.0-1),
because this package isn't available in Debian anymore.

Regards,
Michael

Bug#566587: FTBFS: tests fail

2010-02-09 Thread Damyan Ivanov
-=| Jonathan Yu, Mon, Feb 08, 2010 at 07:47:16PM -0500 |=-
I'm hesitant to apply gregoa's patch because it seems like it might
have problems where machines *cannot* left-shift 62 bits... If the
register is only 32-bits wide (as with i386 on older machines), then
this may result in data falling off the end (and $low4bytes will be
 zeroed out).

I think we can look into something with the Config module, which will
tell us various info that perl -V tells us, such as:
 intsize=4, longsize=8, ptrsize=8, doublesize=8, byteorder=12345678

Here's what perlop(1) has to say:

Note that both and in Perl are implemented directly using
and in C. If use integer (see Integer Arithmetic) is
in force then signed C integers are used, else unsigned C integers
are used. Either way, the implementation isn't going to generate
results larger than the size of the integer type Perl was built with
  (32 bits or 64 bits).

The result of overflowing the range of the integers is undefined
because it is undefined also in C. In other words, using 32-bit
integers, 1 32 is undefined. Shifting by a negative number of
  bits is also undefined.

Funnily, the variable is called $low4bytes, which implies that it
intented to contain 64bit integers, no mater what the processor. This
is not right, because 64-bit arithmetic doesn't work with 32-bit
integers:

# on 32-bit Celeron
$ perl -MConfig -w 'EOF'
print $Config{intsize}\n;
print $Config{longsize}\n;
print $Config{ptrsize}\n;
print 160, \n;
print 128, \n;
EOF
4
4
4
268435456
268435456

# on 64-bit Phenom
4
8
8
1152921504606846976
268435456

How about forwarding the bugreport upstream?
Or reading some description of MPEG and figuring out what the code
really does…
To me the right fix seems to be to treat the low 4 bytes as an array
of four bytes, instead of one 64-bit integer. Using Bit::Vector or
Math::BigInt may also be an option.

No changes in upstream since 2004.

 What should we do?
(I hate non-working stuff lying around rotting...)

I hereby propose this package for removal. The QA rationale for that is
as follows:

- very low popcon: recent votes are only 3
- does not work with Postfix (RC buggy since 2004, even if severity was
  unappropriately low)
- no changes since Lenny, changes sincy Etch where mostly minor
  packaging stuff
- no upstream releases since 2004 (in spite of it not working with
postfix: looks abandoned to me); upstream CVS is down and non
  inspectable

Cheers.

Dear maintainer,

I've prepared an NMU for mirage (versioned as 0.9.3-4.1) and uploaded it
to DELAYED/2, according to devref §5.11.1. The patch is Evgeni's and
works fine for me.

I understand you've been preparing an upload of mirage for quite a
while, but this bug is now months old and quite dangerous for users. If
you have good reasons to postpone this specific fix any further, let me
know. If not, I suggest to let the NMU flow in, and later on proceed
with your upload fixing the other issues.

Cheers.

No. I have 'testing' set in my sources.list file and simply install
 newer versions with Synaptic.

Don't. If you use synaptic, then properly upse upgrade features of it
(if it has some, I don't use it)

Selectively ugrading packages (imho) is broken.

  Already fixed in sid.

 Thanks.

No thanks for the unneeded reply to a bug which already states exactly
this :-)

Of course, this fix is only in -15 and to be sure you want -15s packages
(which also will force ure to be upgraded, the bug actually is in the ure
package anyway)

Package: libengine-pkcs11-openssl
Version: 0.1.8-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

The library still installs to /usr/lib/engines and not /usr/lib/ssl/engines/ as
described in the changelog. In addition, debian/libengine-pkcs11-openssl.links
will then try and link the expected installed /usr/lib/ssl/engines library to
/usr/lib/engines and break the library there too

Bug#568910: serna: segfault when show markup is selected

Hi,

I am trying to use serna to edit an xml schema. Unfortunately it segfaults
on me whenever I try to select the show markup option, regardless of the
file I have open. Apparently the problem is in libspeller30.so. The schema I
am trying to edit is the xsams proposed draft for atomic and molecular data,
which can be found at http://www-amdis.iaea.org/xsams/

Thanks for the bugreport. I can reproduce it with the DocBook example as
well.

Dear serna developers, a backtrace is available on
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=568910
but at least I can not see any obvious hints. Also, I did not patch
anything regarding spelling. Any ideas?

Greetings,
Joachim

Bug#568990: planetpenguin-racer-extras: Outdated; needs restructured and updated to be usefull

2010-02-09 Thread Alexander Reichle-Schmehl
Package: planetpenguin-racer-extras
Version: 0.5-3
Severity: serious

Hi!

As planetpenguin-racer got removed and replaced by etracer this package is
quite useless in its current form.

One need to at least change the install path and transfer the course info
files into the new format (AFAIK the old tcl files won't do it anymore) and
check which courses are already shipped upstream.

I have also one or two courses on hold I would like to add.

Best regards,
  Alexander

2010-02-09 Thread Thorsten Glaser
Jenda Krynicky dixit:

Please remove that statement from copyright notice in any file.

In the end the wording of such requests matters most. If you wanted
to be humorous, you failed.

Would your picky packager ignore the sentence if it was in a separate
paragraph?

No. This is not the issue at hand.

Either you permit people to use your module to send spam, or it
is non-free software (both in the Debian sense, as it fails DFSG
#6, and probably in other senses like OSI too) and will be removed
from Debian main. (If it will re-appear in Debian non-free is to
be discussed then.)

Erik: thanks for responding so fast.

Bug#512740: Sparc disk labels broken on LDOM and Parallel installs

if you could arrange for an installer image to be built with the
modified parted, we could do some testing. I don't have access to a

 does not introduce any regressions.

Personally, I'm not very proficient in d-i (read: not at all), so I'm
getting -boot into the loop forwarding your request, for help. Bottom
line for d-i, to test the patch proposed to fix #512740, we need a d-i
sparc image to check for regression on sparc. The patch is attached for
your convenience, see bug log for full context.

We need this patch against GNU Parted 2.1 (that can be found in
experimental) since this is the current codebase. Besides, it would be
good if we push it upstream, we can work on that after this has been
ported to 2.1 version.

Can someone from Sparc take a look and port it?

Handle manual movement of the cron script gracefully

Instead of blindly trusting the value in the debconf cache, look up
the location of the cron script in backup-manager.config and set the
debconf value accordingly. This makes it possible to manually move,
install or delete the cron script without losing that change on
package upgrades.

Bug#460338: It renders apt-proxy unusable

2010-02-09 Thread Stefano Zacchiroli

I agree to raise the severity of this bug as it renders the package
 unusable.
snip
In the past month, I've tried to have apt-proxy's package in a better
shape, but the number of bugs related to the core part of the
application is really high and really requires a core developer to fix
 them.

As apt-proxy do not have anymore any active developper but only some
package maintainers, and taking into account the number of bugs filed
for apt-proxy, I think it's a reasonable proposition to remove
 apt-proxy from the archive.

Is anyone against this proposition ?

Given that you did most of the work in recent times, I believe you're
entitled to take the decision alone. Anyhow I'm explicitly copying the
other listed maintainers of the package which, according to the home
page, are also the last ones which worked on the code in an upstream
mood.

However, instead of removing the package from the archive, I suggest
turning it into a dummy transitional package which depends on the most
appropriate replacement (according to this bug log, that seems to be
apt-cacher-ng), with a README.Debian that points out how to easily
achieve a working setup with that replacement, and/or even a
NEWS.Debian. That way the upgrade path for users would be easier.

After a release cycle, the transition package can be safely removed.

Just my 0.02€,
Cheers.

Bug#569012: linux-image-2.6.32-1-amd64: Freezes and memory corruption

2010-02-09 Thread Stepan Golosunov
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.32-6
Severity: critical

After running 2.6.32 (as well as 2.6.31 and 2.6.30) for several minutes,
computer freezes completely. Network or alt-sysrq-b do not work.

Further investigation showed that data is being corrupted while reading
or writing files.
Corruption on reading is easily reproduced with debsums (it fails on
random files), corruption on writing happened at least once (under
2.6.32-trunk-amd64) and looks like:

The system has radeon video card, but DRI is disabled and radeon kernel
module is not loaded. I tried to disable ethernet, firewire, jmicron,
sound, C1E Support, but this did not help, though after blacklisting
asus_atk0110 it took longer time to get random errors from debsums.

Debsums failures, random segfaults and total freezing can also be
reproduced under single-user mode. There are no messages on console when
system freezes.

Under 2.6.26 there is no sign of these problems, computer only suffers
from #518643.

 Hello,

Bug #567477 reported by you has been fixed in the Git repository. You can
see the changelog below, and you can check the diff of the fix at:

 http://git.debian.org/?p=/srv/alioth.debian.org/chroot/home/users/joachim-guest/public_git/backup-manager.git;a=commitdiff;h=94c7d68

Sorry, this URL does not work. Looks like the post-receive hook script
on Alioth which sent you this mail has a bug; I opened a support request
to get that fixed.

Meanwhile, if you are interested please visit this URL instead:

Bug#569015: openipmi: FTBFS on kfreebsd-*: SIGPWR

2010-02-09 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Package: openipmi
Version: 2.0.16-1.1
Severity: serious
Justification: FTBFS
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: kfreebsd

Hi,

it looks like your package no longer builds on kfreebsd-*:
| if x86_64-kfreebsd-gnu-gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I..-Wall
-Wsign-compare -I../include -I../libedit -DIPMI_CHECK_LOCKS -Wall -g -O2 -MT
ipmish.o -MD -MP -MF .deps/ipmish.Tpo -c -o ipmish.o ipmish.c; \
| then mv -f .deps/ipmish.Tpo .deps/ipmish.Po; else rm -f
.deps/ipmish.Tpo; exit 1; fi
| ipmish.c: In function 'setup_term':
| ipmish.c:655: error: 'SIGPWR' undeclared (first use in this function)
| ipmish.c:655: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
| ipmish.c:655: error: for each function it appears in.)
| make[3]: *** [ipmish.o] Error 1

Since that's a regression (2.0.14-2 was built), your package is
considered out-of-date on a release arch, and won't be able to enter
testing until this bug is fixed.

Mraw,
KiBi.

Bug#569017: pyside: Please do not migrate to testing (FTBFS on various arches)

2010-02-09 Thread Didier Raboud
Package: pyside
Version: 0.2.3-1
Severity: serious
Justification: FTBFS on alpha, armel, hppa and sparc

Hi,

as per https://buildd.debian.org/pkg.cgi?pkg=pyside , pyside fails to build on
at least 4 release architectures, I am hereby requiring that pyside should not
migrate to testing.

Furthermore, upstream is not willing to support this version (boost-based) on
the long-term, so pyside as it is now is not suited for Debian Stable.

I will work on their next flavour (shiboken-based), hopefully in time for
Squeeze.

Best regards,

OdyX

Please try with a default Debian kernel, if you can reproduce the problem there.
Do you have your network drivers compiled statically into your kernel?

I don't really understand much about ispell, only that it is currently
broken. Do you need any other information?

What are the contents of /var/lib/ispell?

ingerman should use ngerman.aff to build ngerman.hash, not ingerman.{aff,hash}
(See 'dpkg -L ingerman' output).

It looks like the best way to fix this issue is to add a
HAS_INTERNET (or perhaps in this case, HAS_LOCALHOST or HAS_NETWORK)
style flag to disable tests unless it is known that localhost is
 available.

localhost should be available on buildds, no? We already build-depend
 on netbase.
I guess it could be available, but firewalled via iptables for some reason?

Bug#512740: Sparc disk labels broken on LDOM and Parallel installs

2010-02-09 Thread Frans Pop
On Tuesday 09 February 2010, Stefano Zacchiroli wrote:
On Mon, Feb 08, 2010 at 10:04:05PM +, Jurij Smakov wrote:
My main concern is whether it affects installer in any adverse way, so
if you could arrange for an installer image to be built with the
modified parted, we could do some testing. I don't have access to a
machine which supports LDOMs, but I could at least confirm that it
  does not introduce any regressions.

I've read through the patch, but must admit I don't understand it. What
seems to be missing is *how* exactly it fixes the problem.

And somehow I doubt this patch stands on its own. I would think that it is
a requirement for patches in other packages (such as partman). If that is
true, then testing the patch in isolation is not much use (as applying it
on its own would not fix the reported issue anyway).

Also, I question the definition of (unused?) tags for usr, var, home etc.
What's the purpose of that? How's that supposed to be used? Does it mean
you're not allowed to put e.g. /srv on a separate partition as there's no
tag for it?

More porter input is definitely needed here.

Below are instructions for building a custom D-I image that includes a
patched libparted and partman. It's not that hard.

Cheers,
FJP

0) preparation
- check out D-I SVN
- install build deps for debian-installer

1) build patched parted
- build parted with the patch (preferably with increased package version)
- install the lib and -dev packages
- suggestion: install 'parted' and test that before continuing

2) build partman against the patched libparted
- cd to packages/partman/partman-base
- increase package version ('dch')
- debuild

3) build a D-I image
- cd to installer/build
- cp ../../partman/*.udeb ./localudebs
- cp all (lib)parted udebs (from the first step) to ./localudebs
- echo partman-base ./pkg-lists/local
  # This will include the custom udebs in the D-I initrd and thus ensure
  # they'll be used instead of the versions in the archive.
- make reallyclean; make build_netboot
  # Instead of build_netboot you can also use build_miniiso.

4) test
- boot the installer from the image you'll find under ./dest

This is fixed for the next package revision that will be uploaded soon. Setting

testing.

 Hi,

a security bug has been discovered in all versions of Samba up to and
 including 3.4.5.
It is possible to cause mtab corruption via a specially crafted string.
 More information at
 http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2010-0547
 http://git.samba.org/?p=samba.git;a=commit;h=a065c177dfc8f968775593ba00dffafeebb2e054

Since 567554 is tagged pending, I suppose the setuid root bit on
mount.cifs is going to be dropped. Once done, this issue is moot.

Cheers,
Moritz

Sorry, this slipped through. An update for stable-security would be
very
welcome.

Test packages (both amd64 and i386) with build logs can be found at
http://pkg-multimedia.alioth.debian.org/ffmpeg-lenny/ for now.

Please note that because lenny does *not* ship FFmpeg 0.5 but an
earlier
snapshot, not all patches did apply cleanly. I did my best to
backports
all patches, but I needed to drop thee of them:

security/libavcodec/mpegaudiodec/0002-Check-data_size-in-decode_frame_mp3on4.patch
security/libavformat/mov/0003-check-stream-existence-before-assignment-fix-1222.patch
security/libavcodec/vp3/0003-Make-sure-that-all-memory-allocations-succeed.patch

The biggest problem is that I haven't tested them yet. Testers very
welcome!

If I get positive feedback, or Moritz asks me to do so, I'll of course
upload to security.debian.org immediately.

   ping?
Any interest from the security team having this in lenny?

Sorry, I've been busy. I'll test, review and release.

Updates are tested and building, should appear soon.

ping? I've noticed a failed upload, but no packages in the archive nor
any announcement. are we still on track?

Packages are built on security-master and tested. I'm waiting for CVE
assignment from either CERT or MITRE for more than a week now. If they
don't react soon, I'll just go ahead and release w/o CVE IDs.

Cheers,
Moritz

Your package does not byte-compile Python files. This task is usually
done by python-support or python-central, which also take care to
move files to the right location.

In order to fix this bug, you should build-depend on python-support
or python-central and be sure to call corresponding dh_* helper
(dh_pysupport or dh_pycentral) in your rules file (if needed).

In case you already build-depend on python-support or python-central,
you need to look where your files are installed, and eventually patch
upstream build routines to let helpers byte-compile Python files.

2010-02-09 Thread Piotr Ożarowski
--install-{pure,lib} is used later anyway, so --install-layout=deb
will not change much (and please don't mention tarball workaround used in
Ubuntu).

both dh_pycentral and dh_pysupport move files from site-packages to
dist-packages, so #567745 is not relevant.

Bug#512915: I think this can be closed..

2010-02-09 Thread Chris Butler
It doesn't look like this is actually a bug. The uncompressed source .css
files ARE in the source package. From the list of files in the last message
on this bug:

the compressed file: build/assets/skins/sam/autocomplete.css
is the same as the compressed file:
build/autocomplete/assets/skins/sam/autocomplete.css
for which the original is:
build/autocomplete/assets/skins/sam/autocomplete-skin.css

The same layout should be found for most of the other individual components:

button.css
calendar.css
carousel.css
colorpicker.css
container.css
datatable.css
editor.css
imagecropper.css
layout.css
logger.css
menu.css
paginator.css
profilerviewer.css
progressbar.css
resize.css
slider.css
tabview.css
treeview.css

The slight exception is simpleeditor.css, which is in the
build/editor/assets/skins/sam directory.

There are a few css files which part of the YUI CSS Foundation rather than a
component's sam skin:

build/base/base-min.css
build/fonts/fonts-min.css
build/grids/grids-min.css
build/reset/reset-min.css

For these files, the original source is in the same directory, minus the
-min suffix.

There are also a few files present which are made up by concatenating some
of the individual files listed above, for which the original source
files should be sufficient:

build/reset-fonts/reset-fonts.css = reset and fonts css
build/reset-fonts-grids/reset-fonts-grids.css = reset, fonts and grids css

FWIW, the css files are also compressed using yui-compressor - it has an
argument to switch between compressing JS and CSS.

It looks to me like this bug can be closed, although you may want to add a
README.source explaining where the files come from and how to regenerate
them. Feel free to use anything I've written here.

Package: cdbs
Version: 0.4.65
Severity: important

cdbs uses '--prefix=/usr' in DEB_PYTHON_INSTALL_ARGS_ALL, which seems to be the
wrong approach. Please use '--install-layout=deb' instead, which changes both
the prefix and the name of the site directory. Packaging helper tools shouldn't
be affected by this, but software packages relying on the correct path on
installation get the right path.

Also when stripping the debug symbols of extensions into a separate debug
package, the location is the correct one.

both dh_pycentral and dh_pysupport move files from site-packages to
dist-packages, so #567745 is not relevant.

Thanks for confirming.

I believe you, Piotr, and close this as a non-bug.

Please bring more evidence to support it if thisis still believed to be
a bug.

Hello,

I had to fix this in some machines that I administer.
So, maybe the attached debdiff could be useful.

Cheers,

Bug#569090: Uses obsolete V4L1 API

2010-02-09 Thread Ben Hutchings
Package: camstream
Version: 0.27+dfsg-3
Severity: serious
Tags: patch

The V4L1 API is obsolete and does not work with most new V4L drivers.
You can use libv4l as an emulation layer; see the attached patch by
Hans de Goede.

Ben.
