Bug#576791: tp-smapi-modules-2.6.26-2-686: lost battery, batery goes idle after a while, sometimes
Package: tp-smapi-modules-2.6.26-2-686 Version: 2.6.26+0.37-6+lenny3 Severity: critical Justification: breaks the whole system hi, since i run aptitude safe-upgrade the last time, just a few days ago, i mentioned that my thinkpad losts its battery sometimes. it seems to be an smapi problem, i guess so, because i saw the tp-smapi modules updated with safe-upgrade. after a reboot, my thinkpad t42p reported the battery as idle when running with external powersource. i didnt test what happens when i pull out the wire! i also mentioned that it will report a dead battery sometimes when battery still have 70% and goes to standby mode, or tries to. the battery is almost new, and works really well for 1 year now. i dont see the problem here. also testes with a second battery, old one, and could reproduce it 2 times with old battery (within 1 week or so). when linux tries to go standby, it does not always work, because of active wlan (ath5k), maybe the radeon driver with opengl, dont know, sometimes fails. when booting again, or come back to x after failed suspend to ram, it will suspend again and again running in a loop until i put in a powersource. this is really bad and makes the machine unsuseable causing a lot of trouble sometimes, cant reboot cleanly and had to press poweroff button :( some more details: i use a thinkpad t42p, and one missing feature of my firmware is indeed the lack of some smapi features. like fore_uncharge or charge, or use 2 batteries simultaneously. this is a common problem of the smapi on some thinkpad models, i had already the latest firmware and bios, but this does not fix the smapi bugs on this machine. but battery was never a problem before last safe-upgrade. it appears exactly after i run safe-upgrade the last time. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.4 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-2-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages tp-smapi-modules-2.6.26-2-686 depends on: ii linux-image-2.6.26-2-686 2.6.26-21lenny4 Linux 2.6.26 image on PPro/Celeron tp-smapi-modules-2.6.26-2-686 recommends no packages. tp-smapi-modules-2.6.26-2-686 suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Hi, something is strange in there. If you check the build log, you'll see that configure is run twice, then config.h.in is regenerated using autoheader, but config.h is build via config.status only after make all-recursive is executed. Bug#576800: libc6: Cannot create new processes after hibernating
Package: libc6 Version: 2.10.2-6 Severity: critical Justification: breaks the whole system After resuming my EeePC from hibernation, I can no longer start new processes. This goes so far as preventing shutdown since init itself cannot be forked so that the only solution is a hard reset. Hence the 'breaks the whole system' justification. Also, although this only happens after hibernating, I feel this is a pretty unavoidable activity on a laptop. Since no new process can be started (including gdb, strace, etc), this is quite hard to debug. I'm sorry, but this isn't a bug in xtrlock. Clearly, a user having access to one of your shells can kill xtrlock (consider the case of you leaving an ssh connection logged in elsewhere). There's no need to run your wm from a TTY - you could just log in via xdm or gdm, for example, and run ratpoison in .xsession Alternatively, use the DontVTSwitch option in xorg.conf (documented in the man page), which will disable the option of switching out of X using the Control-Alt-FN keystroke. tags 575384 + pending thanks Dear maintainer, I've prepared an NMU for ethos (versioned as 0.2.2-1.1) and uploaded it to DELAYED/2, according to devref §5.11.1. Given that you are a DD, next time you might want to consider doing a very long DELAYED upload straight ahead when you prepare your NMU. Bug#460338: It renders apt-proxy unusable

Is anyone against this proposition ? snip However, instead of removing the package from the archive, I suggest turning it into a dummy transitional package which depends on the most appropriate replacement (according to this bug log, that seems to be apt-cacher-ng), with a README.Debian that points out how to easily achieve a working setup with that replacement, and/or even a NEWS.Debian. That way the upgrade path for users would be easier. After a release cycle, the transition package can be safely removed. Two more months have passed after this ping, without any reaction. I'm hence going to file a removal RoQA request for apt-proxy. The idea of the transitional package is not in contrast with that action, it can simply be added later on as a new binary package of the best replacement available (e.g. apt-cacher-ng). I'll followup with the removal bug report, if you have any further comment please post them there. Cheers. -- Stefano Zacchiroli -o- PhD in Computer Science \ PostDoc @ Univ. Bug#576800: libc6: Cannot create new processes after hibernating
Francois Gouget a écrit : Package: libc6 Version: 2.10.2-6 Severity: critical Justification: breaks the whole system After resuming my EeePC from hibernation, I can no longer start new processes. In fact, this one is a *delayed* NMU, delayed by 2 days. So for the next 2 days nothing will happen. If they pass without anyone doing anything, the NMU will hit the archive. It just means that at the next upload of yours you should acknowledge the NMU (check developer's reference for a bit more info on this). If your upload (sponsored) hits the archive before the expiration, it will just override my NMU as yours version will be newer than mine, and everybody will be happy :-) If you need more time for the sponsoring (you and/or Andreas, of course) just let me know and I can postpone of a few days---or even cancel, if you want so---my DELAYED NMU. Bug#574234: latex209-bin: installation fails
Hi, I'm trying to fix this installation failure issue and just can install it with replace to texlive. http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/l/latex209/latex209_25.mar.1992-12.1.dsc But I don't know whether it works or not... Bug#575384: ethos: diff for NMU version 0.2.2-1.1
Hello Mathieu! (I stripped off zack from CC as he's not interested in this descussion) On Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 11:02:32AM -0400, Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre wrote: Andreas or Stefano, would you be able to review my package for emerillon, since it is complete? (see http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/e/emerillon/ ) We're getting quite off topic for this bugreport, but here's my quick review anyway. (In the future, please post RFS to debian-ment...@lists.debian.org and feel free to CC me). General nitpicks: please remove empty/useless files/directories under debian/ (e.g. patches/series) You should fix the libethos-ui-dev bug rather then working around it by adding libethos-ui-1.0-0 to you build-dependecies. More importantly: I'm not particularily found of you building an orig tarball from upstream git. The upstream git repo and the upstream orig tarball doesn't match. Your tarball will miss any files added by upstream during make dist. Your tarball checksum will not match the upstream checksum making it hard to verify it's not been tampered with. You have many build-dependencies which is only needed because you're using a git snapshot rather then the actual release tarball. Since you're using CDBS anyway, I suggest you look at gnome-pkg-tools helper script for downloading the actual orig tarballs from ftp.gnome.org instead. This way you could also have a functional debian/watch file. Another suggestion would be to ask for this package to be maintained in pkg-gnome by the gnome packaging team. Since emerillon is very gnomey, it would likely be accepted and you'd get the benefit of team maintenance when you're busy while it would lower the barrier for you to help out with other gnome(-related) packages which I'm sure the gnome packaging team would appreciate. :) Also, I'm not entirely familiar with the NMU process, could someone clarify what I am supposed to do at this point, either by email, or we could get in contact on IRC... To summarize what zack said, if you do nothing the bug will be fixed in 2 days... after that you should make sure to incorporate zacks changes in your next ethos upload. -- Andreas Henriksson signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#575002:
This appears to be caused by the following assignment in src/sat/minisat_solver.cpp, line 1582: d_assigns[var] = toInt(lbool(p.sign())); d_assigns has type vectorchar. On the affected architectures, char is unsigned. When p.sign() is -1, the result is that d_assigns[var] is assigned 255, an unsigned char, which causes the following assertion to fail, because the value of l_False is -1, a signed int (getValue(c[z]) just coerces the d_assigns value for c[z].var() to int): DebugAssert(getValue(c[z]) == l_False, MiniSat::Solver:::propagate: Unit Propagation); The offending assignment exists in the upstream MiniSat code, but it's not clear whether it leads to a bug in the absence of the changes made for CVC3 (the assertion is one such change). A simple fix is to change the type of d_assigns to vectorsigned char. A new version of the package with this fix is pending. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
Bug#576697: python-paramiko: paramiko fails to load : ImportError: No module named Crypto.Util.randpool
I don't get it. Wouldn't that be better to make the packet impossible to install (at least without downgrading python-crypto) ? For those that didn't upgrade python-crypto it wouldn't upgrade and they would keep a valid config. For others it would at least give a hint on what the problem is. Right now you can install the package sure ... but if you can't use it, what's the point ? Regards, Julien signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.
