 Hello.

Please remove RSA Security 1024 V3 root certificate ASAP from
 ca-certificates package.

 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=549701

In that bug log, Kathleen Wilson states in
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=549701#c8:
| RSA has confirmed that they are in possession of the private key for the
| RSA Security 1024 V3 root certificate. RSA agrees that this root should
| be removed from NSS.

There doesn't seem to be a compromise situation that would warant critical
severity and the security tag. I'm downgrading this to a wish to remove an
obsolete certificate and leaving that to the ca-certificates maintainers
to follow up on.

cheers,
Thijs

Bug#576791: tp-smapi-modules-2.6.26-2-686: lost battery, batery goes idle after a while, sometimes

2010-04-07 Thread V.Aug.
Package: tp-smapi-modules-2.6.26-2-686
Version: 2.6.26+0.37-6+lenny3
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

hi,

since i run aptitude safe-upgrade the last time, just a few days ago, i
mentioned that my thinkpad losts its battery sometimes.
it seems to be an smapi problem, i guess so, because i saw the tp-smapi modules
updated with safe-upgrade.
after a reboot, my thinkpad t42p reported the battery as idle when running with
external powersource.
i didnt test what happens when i pull out the wire!
i also mentioned that it will report a dead battery sometimes when battery
still have 70% and goes to standby mode, or tries to.

the battery is almost new, and works really well for 1 year now. i dont see the
problem here. also testes with a second battery, old one,
and could reproduce it 2 times with old battery (within 1 week or so).

when linux tries to go standby, it does not always work, because of active wlan
(ath5k), maybe the radeon driver with opengl, dont know, sometimes fails.

when booting again, or come back to x after failed suspend to ram, it will
suspend again and again running in a loop until i put in a powersource.
this is really bad and makes the machine unsuseable causing a lot of trouble
sometimes, cant reboot cleanly and had to press poweroff button :(

some more details:
i use a thinkpad t42p, and one missing feature of my firmware is indeed the
lack of some smapi features. like fore_uncharge or charge, or use 2 batteries
simultaneously.
this is a common problem of the smapi on some thinkpad models, i had already
the latest firmware and bios, but this does not fix the smapi bugs on this
machine.
but battery was never a problem before last safe-upgrade. it appears exactly
after i run safe-upgrade the last time.

Looks like Dan's Guardian (dansguardian) has changed the format of the log. The
narsty Perl regexps in dglog.pl don't work anymore. This shows up as denied
requests being shown in reports of allowed requests, and denied requests
reports being empty.

This somewhat dirty patch at least hacks around the problem:

Bug#576457: config.h regenerated at wrong place for amd64

2010-04-07 Thread Torsten Marek
Hi,

something is strange in there. If you check the build log, you'll see
that configure is run twice, then config.h.in is regenerated using
autoheader, but config.h is build via config.status only after make
all-recursive is executed.

In a local build, config.h is created immediately after config.h.in, and
judging from the rules, there is no way around that:

all: $(BUILT_SOURCES) config.h
$(MAKE) $(AM_MAKEFLAGS) all-recursive

...

config.h: stamp-h1
@if test ! -f $@; then \
  rm -f stamp-h1; \
  $(MAKE) $(AM_MAKEFLAGS) stamp-h1; \
else :; fi

stamp-h1: $(srcdir)/config.h.in $(top_builddir)/config.status
@rm -f stamp-h1
cd $(top_builddir) $(SHELL) ./config.status config.h
$(srcdir)/config.h.in: $(am__configure_deps)
($(am__cd) $(top_srcdir) $(AUTOHEADER))
rm -f stamp-h1
touch $@

(copy from a local Makefile)

Excerpt from the buildd log:

rm -f stamp-h1
touch config.h.in
/usr/bin/make all-recursive
... many many lines ...
cd . /bin/bash ./config.status config.h

I've checked some other architecture's buildd logs, they look exactly like the
local one.

Bug#576796: xtrlock can be bypassed using TTY's

2010-04-07 Thread thims
Package: xtrlock
Version: 2.0-12
Severity: grave
Tags: security
Justification: user security hole

If one attempts to switch to a TTY while xtrlock is running, it allows the
system to switch to
specified TTY where xtrlock can be easily killed with killall xtrlock. I run
ratpoison, and
executing xtrlock by normal means works fine, but ctrl+alt+FN changes to said
TTY ratpoison was
launched from, ^z then killall xtrlock terminates xtrlock and switching back
allows user
access, bypassing credentials.

Bug#576800: libc6: Cannot create new processes after hibernating

2010-04-07 Thread Francois Gouget
Package: libc6
Version: 2.10.2-6
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

After resuming my EeePC from hibernation, I can no longer start new
processes. This goes so far as preventing shutdown since init itself
cannot be forked so that the only solution is a hard reset. Hence the
'breaks the whole system' justification. Also, although this only
happens after hibernating, I feel this is a pretty unavoidable activity
on a laptop.

Since no new process can be started (including gdb, strace, etc), this
is quite hard to debug. I do get some traces in /var/log/syslog though:

I am reporting this bug against libc6 because if I understand the above
traces correctly, they indicate that the crash occurs in ld-2.10.2.so
which belongs to libc6. But I acknowledge that the bug may instead be in
the Linux kernel. In my case:

I'm sorry, but this isn't a bug in xtrlock. Clearly, a user having
access to one of your shells can kill xtrlock (consider the case of you
leaving an ssh connection logged in elsewhere). There's no need to run
your wm from a TTY - you could just log in via xdm or gdm, for example,
and run ratpoison in .xsession

Alternatively, use the DontVTSwitch option in xorg.conf (documented in
the man page), which will disable the option of switching out of X using
the Control-Alt-FN keystroke.

Regards,

Matthew

The akonadi-server package isn't required for the package to work, so it should
be into the suggested section.
And don't tell me about the kde 4.3 because i've seen that it works without
akonadi too. So it should just be suggested and not required.

Sorry, but you'll have to be a bit more specific than that. What did
you do? What did you expect to see?

Hi,

@Torsten Marek

I can confirm the bug. System is squeeze/sid. One of the packages

I think it's working on testing but can't confirm it, because my testing

I built programs with ghc6-6.12 that work much better WRT unicode now.

One program that fails is `hledger'. (http://hledger.org/)
I installed it with `cabal install hledger'. First it seemingly builds
correctly. Then a simple `./hledger' should display my ledger file with
accounts and the according totals -- with the euro currency symbol.
It should look like this:

€4.50 misc

But no, the currency symbol is substituted:

â¬4.50 misc

In ghci:

whatareumlauts = ä, ö and ü

yes I am, I think I just expect xtrlock to manage all keystrokes to
prevent any unwanted strokes. Yes I could initiate my WM differently,

Thanks for pointing this out. This sounds to me like what v2.6.33-rc6~6

Can you post information about your sound configuration? Also, what is

Looks like hledger is a CLI program. Have you checked your terminal
settings? I'm using xterm myself and the quickest way to check that
it's enabled for UTF-8 is to hold control and the right mouse button.
The menu should have UTF-8 checked for that to display correctly.

 In ghci:

 whatareumlauts = ä, ö and ü

 *Main whatareumlauts

That triggers the Show instance of String, which escapes anything
non-ASCII. Try putStrLn.

This is not only a problem as long as libao2 isn't removed from

Bug#575384: ethos: diff for NMU version 0.2.2-1.1

2010-04-07 Thread Stefano Zacchiroli

thanks

Dear maintainer,

I've prepared an NMU for ethos (versioned as 0.2.2-1.1) and uploaded it
to DELAYED/2, according to devref §5.11.1. Please feel free to tell me
if I should delay it reschedule it somehow.

Andreas: I've uploaded more or less the same patch of yours. Given that
you are a DD, next time you might want to consider doing a very long
DELAYED upload straight ahead when you prepare your NMU. That way, if
the maintainer does not intervene, there is no need to give an
additional stab at the patch to have it hit the archive. Of course,
YMMV. Thanks a lot for your patch!

Regards.

Is anyone against this proposition ?
snip
However, instead of removing the package from the archive, I suggest
turning it into a dummy transitional package which depends on the most
appropriate replacement (according to this bug log, that seems to be
apt-cacher-ng), with a README.Debian that points out how to easily
achieve a working setup with that replacement, and/or even a
NEWS.Debian. That way the upgrade path for users would be easier.

After a release cycle, the transition package can be safely removed.

Two more months have passed after this ping, without any reaction. I'm
hence going to file a removal RoQA request for apt-proxy. The idea of
the transitional package is not in contrast with that action, it can
simply be added later on as a new binary package of the best replacement
available (e.g. apt-cacher-ng).

I'll followup with the removal bug report, if you have any further
comment please post them there.

Cheers.

Bug#576800: libc6: Cannot create new processes after hibernating

2010-04-07 Thread Aurelien Jarno
Francois Gouget a écrit :

 Apr 7 11:58:47 malte kernel: [ 122.856385] sh[2687]: segfault at b773f11f

I am reporting this bug against libc6 because if I understand the above
traces correctly, they indicate that the crash occurs in ld-2.10.2.so
which belongs to libc6. But I acknowledge that the bug may instead be in
the Linux kernel. In my case:

 ii linux-image-2.6.32-3-686 2.6.32-9 Linux

What is your video card? If it is and Intel one, it's likely a memory
corruption caused by the video driver:

Agreed on this specific package, but remember that the overall number of
RC bugs is anyhow an indication of how far we're from releasing, so
keeping it low is useful anyhow :-)

Given that Mathieu actually replies to my mails, I wanted to give him

Uh? That was not clear from the bug log ...

Indeed.

If Mathieus words continues to fails become action, I'm interested in
taking over the packages (ethos and the emerillon ITP) rather then
 NMUing them.

I'll leave this up to you. Just let me know if any of you wants my
DELAYED NMU to be rescheduled (anticipated/postponed, either way),
otherwise it'll expire in 2 days.

Cheers.

Looks like hledger is a CLI program. Have you checked your terminal
settings? I'm using xterm myself and the quickest way to check that
it's enabled for UTF-8 is to hold control and the right mouse button.
The menu should have UTF-8 checked for that to display correctly.

I am using rxvt-unicode, it knows UTF-8. I tested it with xterm and
Eterm which leads to similar results. Mmh, I use UTF-8, on different
systems, for a long time now, with no problems.
BTW, on the hledger website are some older builds to download which are
working fine.

 In ghci:

 whatareumlauts = ä, ö and ü

 *Main whatareumlauts
 \228, \246 and \252

That triggers the Show instance of String, which escapes anything
 non-ASCII. Try putStrLn.

Yes, with putStrLn it works fine.

I'll leave this up to Andreas, I'm currently not interested in ethos at
large, I just wanted to squash this specific RC bug.

Also, I'm not entirely familiar with the NMU process, could someone
clarify what I am supposed to do at this point, either by email, or we
could get in contact on IRC...

In fact, this one is a *delayed* NMU, delayed by 2 days. So for the next
2 days nothing will happen. If they pass without anyone doing anything,
the NMU will hit the archive. It just means that at the next upload of
yours you should acknowledge the NMU (check developer's reference for a
bit more info on this).

If your upload (sponsored) hits the archive before the expiration, it
will just override my NMU as yours version will be newer than mine,
and everybody will be happy :-)

If you need more time for the sponsoring (you and/or Andreas, of course)
just let me know and I can postpone of a few days---or even cancel, if
you want so---my DELAYED NMU.

Cheers.

Bug#575384: ethos: diff for NMU version 0.2.2-1.1

2010-04-07 Thread Andreas Henriksson
Hello Mathieu!

(I stripped off zack from CC as he's not interested in this descussion)

On Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 11:02:32AM -0400, Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre wrote:
Andreas or Stefano, would you be able to review my package for
emerillon, since it is complete? (see
 http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/e/emerillon/ )

We're getting quite off topic for this bugreport, but here's
my quick review anyway. (In the future, please post RFS to
debian-ment...@lists.debian.org and feel free to CC me).

General nitpicks:
please remove empty/useless files/directories under debian/
(e.g. patches/series)

You should fix the libethos-ui-dev bug rather then working around
it by adding libethos-ui-1.0-0 to you build-dependecies.

More importantly:
I'm not particularily found of you building an orig tarball
from upstream git.
The upstream git repo and the upstream orig tarball doesn't match.
Your tarball will miss any files added by upstream during make dist.
Your tarball checksum will not match the upstream checksum making
it hard to verify it's not been tampered with.
You have many build-dependencies which is only needed because you're
using a git snapshot rather then the actual release tarball.

Since you're using CDBS anyway, I suggest you look at gnome-pkg-tools
helper script for downloading the actual orig tarballs from ftp.gnome.org
instead. This way you could also have a functional debian/watch file.

Another suggestion would be to ask for this package to be maintained
in pkg-gnome by the gnome packaging team.
Since emerillon is very gnomey, it would likely be accepted and
you'd get the benefit of team maintenance when you're busy while
it would lower the barrier for you to help out with other gnome(-related)
packages which I'm sure the gnome packaging team would appreciate. :)

Also, I'm not entirely familiar with the NMU process, could someone
clarify what I am supposed to do at this point, either by email, or we
could get in contact on IRC...

To summarize what zack said, if you do nothing the bug will be fixed
in 2 days... after that you should make sure to incorporate
zacks changes in your next ethos upload.

with the kernel linux-image-2.6.30-bpo.1-amd64 cdcd, cdtool, ..., grip
work fine but with the kernel linux-image-2.6.32-4-amd64 (and also the
2.6.33 in experimental) I can see the list of the tracks of a CD but I
can't hear them. Are these packages obsolete ? How can I listen to them
with the new kernels ?
Thanks in advance for a tip.

This is not grave, because it does not render the module unusable at all.
Anyway, good catch, it needs to be better managed in mod_ldap.

Bug#576851: xserver-xorg-input-kbd: Layout switching cease to work after upgrading to 1.4.0-1

2010-04-07 Thread yauhen barushka

Package: xserver-xorg-input-kbd
Version: 1:1.4.0-1
Justification: renders package unusable
Severity: grave

After upgrading layout switching have ceased to work. My xorg.conf section:

Section InputDevice
Identifier Generic Keyboard
Driver kbd
Option SendCoreEventstrue
Option XkbRules xorg
Option XkbModel pc104
Option XkbLayout us,by
Option XkbOptions
grp:lwin_toggle,grp_led:scroll,lv3:rwin_switch,compose:menu,terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp
Option AutoRepeat 500 30
EndSection

When starting Xorg with such settings only us layout works. When pressing lwin
scroll lock starts glowing, but layout remains us.
When I change their places (us,by - by,us), than only by layout is
working, regardless of lwin pressing.
Other possible keystrokes are working just the same way.
When I keep only one layout in xorg.conf (us or by) it's working as it should
be.

If you'd like me to sponsor another upload, which fixes these problems

I prepared a new NMU package, Alan told me he still wants to take a look
at it and if it is good condition sponsor it.

It can be found at http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/player/

Bug#575002:

2010-04-07 Thread Christopher L Conway
This appears to be caused by the following assignment in
src/sat/minisat_solver.cpp, line 1582:

d_assigns[var] = toInt(lbool(p.sign()));

d_assigns has type vectorchar. On the affected architectures, char
is unsigned. When p.sign() is -1, the result is that d_assigns[var] is
assigned 255, an unsigned char, which causes the following assertion
to fail, because the value of l_False is -1, a signed int
(getValue(c[z]) just coerces the d_assigns value for c[z].var() to
int):

DebugAssert(getValue(c[z]) == l_False,
   MiniSat::Solver:::propagate: Unit Propagation);

The offending assignment exists in the upstream MiniSat code, but it's
not clear whether it leads to a bug in the absence of the changes made
for CVC3 (the assertion is one such change).

A simple fix is to change the type of d_assigns to vectorsigned
char. A new version of the package with this fix is pending.

Bug#576697: python-paramiko: paramiko fails to load : ImportError: No module named Crypto.Util.randpool

2010-04-07 Thread Julien Bigot
I don't get it.

Wouldn't that be better to make the packet impossible to install (at least
without downgrading python-crypto) ?

For those that didn't upgrade python-crypto it wouldn't upgrade and they would
keep a valid config.
For others it would at least give a hint on what the problem is.

Right now you can install the package sure ... but if you can't use it, what's
the point ?

Regards,
Julien
