Bug#882085: [cowsay] Package includes ASCII representation of Zoophilia

2017-11-19 Thread Alf Gaida
Hi,
you tested it? And you read and understand the description of cowsay-off
carefully?

Explicit: the sheep is not part of the cowsay package - it is part of
cowsay-off which is described as:
>  This package contains cows which some may consider to be offensive.
>  Please do not install this package if you or your users are easily
> offended.
Ok, it is a little bit tasteless - but no one is forced to install this
package.

Bug#921756: closed by Alf Gaida (Re: libfm-qt: FTBFS (dh_auto_configure fails))

2019-02-08 Thread Alf Gaida
To be more verbose - libfm-qt don't depend on libfm anymore (no part of
LXQt does directly anymore) - so we removed the cmake find for from the
build tools. Even if we would find libfm-dev it wouldn't build anymore
because of some now deprecated things we don't allow anymore in the
code. So waiting is the only chance.

after upgrading to latest kwindowsystem lxqt-panel and lxqt-runner behave

May be, but both packages will migrate in the same cycle or a cycle
later. So it will eventually break some systems - and these systems can
be repaired a) with purging lxqt-plugins b) waiting c) take
lxqt-qtplugins from sid for the time being.

We are aware of the possible breaks, but we will find a solution in Qt
upstream or Qt packaging before the stable release to picking up the
qt-abi dependency correctly.

Bug#871992: juffed FTBFS on !amd64 64bit: missing symbol

2017-08-13 Thread Alf Gaida
Right, but you missed one point - it is missed in arm64, not amd64. And
ppc64el, s390x, alpha, ppc64 and some of the architectures that are not
built yet. And your are right, it is serious and I'm aware of it.

Switching from optional|c++ to c++|arch= !foo !bar !baz has it's up- and
downsides. The upside is: it is more readable and more precise, the
downside is: i have to collect the missed symbols after this build and
fix the symbols again. But it is not wasted work or build time as it
will ease the maintainance for future uploads.

Cheers Alf

I never closed #824825 in the changelog, i'd just overseen it - but you
are right, merging changelogs is bad practice. Will add the missed

You can ignore this message - both messages are misleading warnings and

take libfm-qt3 from sid but that should not needed™ - anyways, thanks

The sid package will fix it, there are 10 new symbols in the new
lib, but it seems that they are not called directly so dh had no
chance to calculate the dependencies right. Have to learn about it.

Bug#939382: fswatch: bad symbols file on !amd64

I think it is a good idea - or the best idea right now. Tbh - i don't
care much about different optimization levels (i know what you mean and
i know the small derivative that uses O3 :P) - i don't care about
architecture dependend symbols. Situation is not that nice, because the
most of the differences was introduced by different compilers in some
architectures.

And yes, upstream should hide not needed symbols - but that's not my
area of expertise - if any derivative think that these symbols are of no
use - they can just delete the symbols file and be done with. So all i
can do right now is to make some symbols optional.

Bug#939651: meteo-qt/buster crashes immediately because of changed openweathermap data structure

2019-09-07 Thread Alf Gaida
Package: meteo-qt
Version: 1.0.0-1
Severity: grave
Tags: patch

Hi,

there are a few possible ways to solve this:
* new version in buster
* a wholesale patch (just tested, apply fine, build and run fine)
* a stripped down patch who leaves typos and such things out

Tbh i would prefer the wholesale patch without changing the version. meteo-qt
is a typical leave package - nothing depend on it, so a wholesale patch
should not introduce any problem for other packages - and fixes some
crashes beside only changing the read of the new data structure.

Hi Emilio,
thank you very much, no need to be sorry. This helps a lot, at least for
debian and derivatives. I'm sorry for all the other distributions, bad
luck - but now i can argue with the XDG guys that we in debian and
ubuntu think that the solution is sane, it might help to get it merged
upstream. (And save a lot of nerves in LXQt upstream - no more new bugs
about this :) )

Bug#867128: cmst | network-manager-gnome is to hard

2017-07-03 Thread Alf Gaida
Package: lxqt
Severity: grave

The cmst dependency on cmst is to hard, but we really want a gui for networking
for the
full blown lxqt meta-package:
   cmst [linux-any] | network-manager-gnome [linux-any] | ifupdown [!linux-any]
So it should be:
   cmst [linux-any] | nm-applet [linux-any] | network-manager-gnome [linux-any]
| wicd | network-manager [linux-any]
   | ifupdown [!linux-any]

With nm-applet, wicd and network-manager we cover the most common managers.
With network-manager installed LXQt will have
no UI - one has to install the whished UI via apt.

Updated metapackage descriptions might be useful. A NEWS file might help too.

We and play this for some time - i noticed it and it is not serious. If
you think it is serious, fix it - or be quiet. I would see it as serious
if we are near a freeze - but we are not.

God damn, i really hate it - maybe i should just quit maintaining the
package right now and file a RM request.

And no, i really want any discussions about and i really don't want to
be polite. If you wanted to see me pissed - congratulations, goal
reached, i'm really and serious pissed.

Bug#869191: pristine-tar: pristine-xz failed to reproduce build of ../util-linux_2.30.1.orig.tar.xz

2018-05-13 Thread Alf Gaida
Only a remark - i'm not interested in severeties of bugs. But xz is a
common compression format - and one of the favoured in debian iirc. So
if a tool break the workflow for a common compression format i would see
this as serious or grave, what ever make it unfit for release and is a
RC bug. ymmv.

Anyways - i would like a "out of the box" working pristine-tar instead
of a surprise when trying to add upstream tarballs to the pristine-tar
branch. If setting the severety to important helps to speed up things
why not.

Cheers Alf

With your "solution" applied - NO! Please, no - even if that means that
nomacs will disappear from testing.

Bug#616139: python-kde4: kdebindings do not build

2011-03-02 Thread Alf Gaida
Package: python-kde4
Version: sid
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

Found an issue with smoke:
CMakeFiles/smokekio.dir/x_20.o: In function
`__smokekio::x_KIO::x_47(Smoke::StackItem*)':
/workload/agaida/test/kdebindings-4.4.5/obj-x86_64-linux-gnu/smoke/kio/x_20.cpp:5535:
undefined reference to `KIO::file_copy(KUrl const&, KUrl const&, QFlags)'

and break.

Should imho be:

KIO::file_copy(KUrl const&, KUrl const&,-1, QFlags)

So i think it's a problem with the code generation in smoke.

2014-11-08 Thread Alf Gaida
Package: avahi-daemon
Version: 0.6.31-4+b1
Followup-For: Bug #768620

Dear Maintainer,

to resolve this mess manually these steps are sufficient:

systemctl disable avahi-daemon
apt-get --reinstall install avahi-daemon
systemctl enable avahi-daemon

after that i can reinstall the packages without any problems

WTF? (Sorry, no offense, but that question describe the problem very well)

Bug#799593: kde-config-systemd FTBFS because of missed systemd build dependency

2015-09-20 Thread Alf Gaida
Source: kde-config-systemd
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

Hi,
building the package in pbuilder fails:
-- checking for module 'systemd'
-- package 'systemd' not found
CMake Error at /usr/share/cmake-3.2/Modules/FindPkgConfig.cmake:340 (message):

Call Stack (most recent call first):

Adding systemd to build dependencies solve this

Cheers Alf

Bug#742580: juffed: ITA (hijack) juffed

2016-03-11 Thread Alf Gaida
Package: juffed
Followup-For: Bug #742580

The juffed package is unmaintained, it hasn't been updated since 2010-08-27.
I tried to contact its maintainer (not a DD) few times during the year without
 any response.

So unless anybody objects, I'm going to take over the package.

Bug#650609: [lxappearance] Reverted Patch in Upstream

2011-12-29 Thread Alf Gaida
Package: lxappearance
Version: 0.5.1-1

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=663138

It makes GtkIconView segfault on GTK 2.24. gtk_icon_view_expose() calls
gtk_icon_view_layout() first thing if there's a layout queued anyway, so we
wouldn't end up in the same situation causing the crash the original patch is
supposed to fix.
This reverts commit 5a03f4a6a50237d86959f596dda143dfc2f040d1.

After patchting and rebuild gtk+2.0 everything is ok and work flawless on i386
