Right, we should be keeping things up to date more often. I guess this
fell through the cracks :-|

Please note the correct term we voted on in a GR is "chair", not
"chairperson":

I'm not presently a committee member, but fwiw I think this version
(mentioning both bugs) is fine to send out. Thank you for your efforts.

A few brief comments inline.

I agree with you that it is a good idea to mention these items within
d-d-a mail about new appointments, though I don't think it would be
worth sending a whole d-d-a mail if all that happened was a change in
chair or a term expiring.

The constitution does specifically use 'chair' not 'chairperson' and we
did have a vote on that, so that might be a reason to use that in
official mail like this one.

Might be worth alphabetising by last name, with the possibly exception
of the chair. Not sure. Just thought I'd mention it.

Hey everyone

I did a traceback of why I was so confused about this on Friday, it
basically came down to two things:

1. I happened to have read https://www.debian.org/devel/leader just a
few hours earlier and I think the line with "Appoint Delegates or
delegate decisions to the Technical Committee" poisoned my brain cache
to associate technical committee with "delegate", so my brain fart, sorr

2. The last ctte update linked from
https://www.debian.org/intro/organization is
https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2018/03/msg5.html,
and it does indeed seem to be the latest appointment update.

Personally I find it a bit strange that we don't announce the expired
terms, or even that Margarita is now the chair. I think it's a
high-profile enough team in Debian that we should be announcing these
kinds of changes, so, I'm adding that to this email. If you think that I
rather shouldn't, let me know and I'll gladly remove it again, or
otherwise suggest a change.

I also renamed "chairman" to "chairperson" as it has become the de facto
designation in Debian, if you'd prefer I change it to something else or
revert it, let me know.

As far as I'm concerned, I don't consider myself part of the Technical
Committee anymore since January 1. 2020. My term lasted from March 8. 2015 [1]
to December 31. of 2019, as on January 1. 2019, my term was already longer
than 42 months (§ 6.2.7.1).

I believe the same goes for Tollef :-).

Two comments from a now-outsider though:
* since https://www.debian.org/vote/2016/vote_003, the Constitution uses
"chair" instead of "chairman", so I'd encourage communications to stick with
this.
* as
  - a) the appointment of the chair of the Technical Committee is an exclusive
   power of the TC (§6.1.7),
  - b) the TC had voluntarily agreed to follow an automatic re-appointment of
the chair after membership change [2],
… I'd leave this information out of the DPL communication, as it could change
right after the nomination

Best regards, and best of luck to the new TC members!
