templateclass T Dice operator =(const T )
{
m_rollable_scalars-clear();
this-append(value);
return *this;
}

*deja* construits.

exemple:
A a;
A aaa(a); // pareil
aa = a; // appelle operator= car aa deja construit

 templateclass T Dice operator =(const T )

It would be really handy to have archives of the debian mailing lists
   available as mbox archives.

The correct solution, until someone gets around to exporting the
mboxes, is to talk/grumble/whine about wanting the archive for some
specific month and list, where developers can hear you. (IRC works, a
mailing list might work.) Eventually someone will scp the relevant
file and send it to you in some way, or give you shell access to a box
with the archives so you can run a MUA right there. This might not be
official procedure, but I've seen it work more than once. I rather
doubt it would work for debian-private.

The reason it hasn't been done so far is not related to any technical
problem. There seems to be just as many people who do not want the
mboxes to be available as people who do. Since most of the list archive
team does seem to care a huge amount about that topic, nothing has been
 done.

Debian developers can already access the mbox on master.d.o, so this is
only an issue for non-DD which might explain the mixed reaction here
(I am in favor of public mbox, if that matter.).

As far as spam harvester are concerned, they can just subscribe to the
mailing-lists to get the mail headers.

I think if they subscribe to the mailing list and use it for abuse they

This is an Apache mod_perl (1.0 and 2.0) module that helps session
management of a web application. This module is a wrapper around
Apache::Session persistence framework for session data. It creates a
session object and makes it available to all other handlers
transparently by putting it in pnotes.

If the need ever comes, you can put a fake and distinct CC: address on
each outgoing mail, that will point to a single subscriber.

I would receive the same mail with CC:[EMAIL PROTECTED] and you, with
CC:[EMAIL PROTECTED] If joshua.abcde gets spammed, it's my fault. if

well, those should be about as much as are saved by removing another
arch -- once the new architecture is uptodate in testing and unstable.

so it seems we have two problems:

 * too much bandwith needed to update all mirrors.

do all mirrors sync with ftp-master? would it help to establish
a mirror hierarchy where only a few selected mirrors are allowed
to connect to our master server?

 * the initial peek that is needed to fill the archive of the new
   architecture.

As Andreas already noted, this could be solved by slowly filling
   the archive.

other problems? other solutions?
I don't think postponing the problem will help in any way.

Actually, that is exactly what is planned post-sarge (well, not removing
an arch, but splitting the archive so that mirrors are only required to
carry some of our current architectures). There is a simple reason why
we don't do it now: We prefer to use the ftp-masters time for resolving
issues we need to release sarge. (And, BTW, of course an architecture
won't be considered for inclusion in sarge unless we have tested it for
a decent time in unstable, so even adding amd64 to sid today won't make
it an sarge architecture, except if we want to delay sarge even more.)

  * too much bandwith needed to update all mirrors.

do all mirrors sync with ftp-master? would it help to establish
a mirror hierarchy where only a few selected mirrors are allowed

This is already the case. But there are places where our _mirrors_
bandwith is too expansive to make the daily pushes even larger.

Andi

After rolling out LDAP and upgrading to kernel 2.6.10 we noticed programs were
failing in a manner similar to this:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ su -
Password:
su: pthread_mutex_lock.c:78: __pthread_mutex_lock: Assertion
`mutex-__data.__owner == 0' failed.
Aborted
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

This only happens for local users su'ing to other local users, changing their
passwords or logging in. Unfortunately we cannot find consistency to
the failures. Some things work where they don't on other machines. If we remove
ldap from /etc/nsswitch.conf then everything works fine (except for
LDAP lookups, obviously). There are people reporting similar issues, see these
posts:

http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/04/msg00304.html

http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.ldap.padl.nss/35

Generally, the solutions we have found are:

* Remove NPTL libraries from the system, eg. mv /lib/tls /lib/tls.old (not
a solution to use on production boxes).
* Downgrade libnss_ldap to version 220 (not ideal but we are going with
this for now).
* Upgrade glibc on the effected machines to 2.3.5, we got the idea from
looking at the following output:

Debian Sarge Machine

machine1:~# getconf GNU_LIBPTHREAD_VERSION
NPTL 0.60
machine1:~#

Fedora Core 3
-

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]# getconf GNU_LIBPTHREAD_VERSION
NPTL 2.3.5
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]#

I am not sure what the different versions mean exactly, but it seems that going
from version 0.60 to 2.3.5 is a large jump. However, I suspecct that
NPTL may have had a version re-numbering to be consistent with the libc version
it is built for, can someone confirm?

* Compiling libnss-ldap to not link to libpthread.so. When I used apt-get
source libnss-ldap, the source tarball gets patched with the file
libnss-ldap_238-1.diff.gz. This causes libnss_ldap.so to use libpthread.so. If
I use the un-modified source tarball then it does not link to this
library and so everything works.
* Using LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19

What we would like to know, is there a proper fix for this so that we can use
the latest package available in Sarge and use NPTL?

Many many thanks,

Fred.

python-mysqldb in sarge and python2.2 support (for zope-mysqlda)

2005-04-29 Thread Jonas Meurer
hello,

i've a problem with packaging python-mysqldb. version 1.2 is already
uploaded to unstable, and has no bugs while version 1.1.6
- currently in testing - has a rc bug: #306906

on the other side python-mysqldb 1.2 lacks python2.2 support, and
thus no python2.2-mysqldb package exists any longer.
the problem with that is, that zope-mysqlda depends on python2.2-mysqldb,
and really requires it, as zope (2.6) doesn't run with python != 2.2.

the only possibilities i see are
1. remove zope-mysqlda from the archive and push python-mysqldb 1.2
[without python2.2 support] into sarge, but i don't like that idea
   too much.
for this solution i've already prepared zope2.7-mysqlda packages that
use python2.3-mysqldb to provide at least a mysql db adapter for
zope2.7 even if none will be included for zope2.6.

2. backport the fixes for bug#306906 from 1.2 to 1.1.6 and prepare a
sarge release with python2.2. i do like this idea but up to now i
couldn't find out which one is the corresponding code change in
   python-mysqldb to fix #306906.

i've already contacted upstream but maybe somebody around could help me
too.

bye
 jonas

No it doesn't.

As Andreas said testing does not produce any traffic (noticeable), it

another arch to the daily pulse.

Only removing an arch from _sid_ would gain as much as adding one and
surely you don't suggest that?

This wouldn't help. doc-base doesn't need to be touched at all for the

   * too much bandwith needed to update all mirrors.

do all mirrors sync with ftp-master? would it help to establish
a mirror hierarchy where only a few selected mirrors are allowed
to connect to our master server?

This is already the case. But there are places where our _mirrors_
bandwith is too expansive to make the daily pushes even larger.

Sorry, but I still don't understand it:

You could continue to offer the complete archive as it is today, and it
shouldn't be a big amount of work to offer one or more partial archives
(e.g. only stable or only i386) from different locations - and a mirror
with bandwith problems could simply switch to using a partial archive.

This wouldn't be as complicated as the SCC proposal, would have exactly
zero impact on release management and should be implemantable within a
few days.

Considering that this might make it possible to ship amd64 with sarge
which would have a positive effect on the reputation of Debian, could
you please explain which technical problems I do oversee when thinking
that the technical problems of such a solution were small?

If such a solution would e.g. take two weeks and would have been
implemented at the day of the SCC announcement, it was running for one
month today...

Could someone please enlighten me?

 Cheers,
 Andi

That's not true. It's only libmysqlclient10 that can't connect using the

And using libmysqlclient14 means we still have the potential segfault
