Bug#630942: ITP: osceleton -- translate skeleton data from a Kinect camera to OSC messages

* Package name: osceleton
  Version : 1.0

  Programming Lang: C++
Description : translate skeleton data from a Kinect camera to OSC messages

Tags: pending help

OSCeleton is a small program that takes kinect skeleton data from the OpenNI
framework and spits out the coordinates of the skeleton's joints via OSC
messages. These can can then be used on your language / framework of choice.

This is already a functional package that is checked into git on alioth. It
needs some work before it can be uploaded. If you have time to spare and are
interested, please work on this package, either directly in git, or via patch
submissions. It might need a DFSG tarball made since the upstream tarball
includes some glut binaries for Windows. Here's the git:

Bug#630920: RFH: rng-tools -- Daemon to use a Hardware TRNG

2011-06-18 Thread Henrique de Moraes Holschuh
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request assistance with maintaining the rng-tools package. I am
upstream for the package, but it needs "downstream-care" which I have
not been providing it with due to limited time.

The package description is:
The rngd daemon acts as a bridge between a Hardware TRNG (true random number
generator) such as the ones in some Intel/AMD/VIA chipsets, and the kernel's
 PRNG (pseudo-random number generator).

It tests the data received from the TRNG using the FIPS 140-2 (2002-10-10)
tests to verify that it is indeed random, and feeds the random data to the
 kernel entropy pool.

This increases the bandwidth of the /dev/random device, from a source that
does not depend on outside activity. It may also improve the quality
(entropy) of the randomness of /dev/random.

A TRNG kernel module such as hw_random, or some other source of true
entropy that is accessible as a device or fifo, is required to use this
 package.

This is an unofficial version of rng-tools which has been extensively
modified to add multithreading and a lot of new functionality.

Re: Bug#630753: ITP: snap -- gene finding with HMMs in Eukaryotes and Prokaryotes

2011-06-18 Thread Ted Dunning
There is a long standing argument about whether Archaea are either.

I think that the current received wisdom is the so-called three kingdom
division into Acheae, Bacteria and Eukaryota.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archaea for a popularized account.

Hi,

It's not the problem here, but something related to round robin.

i.e ftp-chi.osuosl.org.

ftp-chi is not pushed from syncproxy.wna.debian.org, but sync from ftp-osl
(which is pushed).

The problem is that ftp-chi should be pushed from ftp-osl, but there is a big
delay (2 hours) between them, at least during the last sync:
http://ftp-chi.osuosl.org/debian/project/trace/

Problem notified to OSUOSL, and mirror removed from rotation.

Thanks for the report.

Sorry for insisting, but you really should read what I linked you to,
that explains what happened, why, etc.

No, this has nothing to do with kernel modules. This is about userspace
shared objects. Libraries, if you prefer.

Yes, it is userspace. Pity I don't have the logs any more (Xorg.log.0), where
the error was shown. It showed me, that the *_dri.so could not found (so GLX
could not be started). They originally reside below /usr/lib/dri/, but the
driver search them below /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/dri/, which was not existent.

So, there is either a problem with the kernel-module, or some other thing
accidently deleted (or did not create!) i386-linux-gnu/dri below /usr/lib.

Hope, this makes it clearer. :)

Just to clarify: You mentioned a .so, not a .ko; there are i915 bits in
the kernel, and in userspace; in this case, this is about userspace.

CGI::Application

This is being split out from a bundle.

CGI::Application::Plugin::ConfigAuto adds easy access to config file
variables to your CGI::Application modules. Lazy loading is used to
prevent the config file from being parsed if no configuration variables are
accessed during the request. In other words, the config file is not parsed
until it is actually needed. The Config::Auto package provides
the framework for this plugin.

Well, I thought the problem is not related to i915, as this is part of the
kernel, and I did not change the kernel. It was xserver-xorg-core, which was
updated. Additionally I was unsure, if this was really a bug, so I just
intended to remark this strange behaviour, targeted to developers, as IMO they
are the only ones which know, what they changed.

The further discussion will be continued at debian-user or debian-eeepc.

Best regards

Hans

This package is being split out from its current bundle package.

The CGI::Application::Plugin::AutoRunmode plugin for CGI::Application
provides easy ways to setup run modes. You can just write the method that
implements a run mode. You do not have to explicitly register it with
CGI::Application anymore.

You can either flag methods in your CGI::App subclass with the "Runmode" or
"StartRunmode" attributes or simply declare that every method in a class
is a
run mode. You can also assign a delegate object, all whose methods will
become runmodes. You can also mix both approaches.

Clearly you didn't search for i915_dri.so or swrast_dri.so, which would
have given the answer trivially. (And cFWIW, we have bugs for that
already.) That's a matter which has been communicated upon [1,2]. And

kernel module i915 - 3d-acceleration missing after update

2011-06-18 Thread Hans-J. Ullrich
Dear developers,

after an update, I discovered, that 3d-acceleration for the kernel-module was
gone. I examined the logfiles and discovered an error, that the file

/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/dri/i915_dri.so

as well as

/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/dri/swrast_dri.so

could not be found. This was correct, as the directories were not existent at
all.

Solution:
As "apt-file search i386-linux-gnu" did not show any package with this content,
I added the directories manually and created some symlinks to i915_dri.so and
swrast_dri.so pointing to the files /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so and
/usr/lib/dri/swrast_dri.so.

Noiw it is working well again.

I think, this a bug, but I do not know, which package is responsible for this.
Maybe someone, who knows better, might be able to fix it or file a bugreport.

Thank you for reading this.

Nice weekend!

Hans
