2010-10-02, Peter Samuelson: [Lars Wirzenius] Now, if you wanted to make a service that allows DFSG-free music to be easily found and downloaded (installed), that would be a welcome addition, though even that would not necessarily really be what the core of Debian is: producing an operating system. Indeed, that sounds like more of a job for the Wikimedia Foundation. Perhaps making a front-end for Jamendo? So what we are saying is just that it should be worth it wrt other software offerings already in the archive. On a related topic, please remember that long descriptions are meant to help sysadms to decide whether they want to install a package or not. In this specific case, and giving the availability of competitor tools, your long description should explain why one might want to prefer woof over other packages. +1 [plus] 2010-09-07, Andrea Gasparini: Such as: $ python -m SimpleHTTPServer [port] Thanks Mauro, we could drop all our webservers, now. :) I guess we could, but it wouldn't be a very smart move to be honest. Intent to hijack anarchism
Hello there, This is my intent to hijack the package anarchism. (Oh, the irony) I've already talked to Ed Boraas (the previous maintainer) about this and he agreed that I can take over this package and continue the work. Unfortunately, I don't have a signed mail to prove this. (Ed, if you read this, would be great if you answer this with a signed mail) About the upstream, I talked to Iain McKay and the upstream authors of the AAFAQ and they handed me an up to date version of it (ie: 13.4). About the package, I converted it to the new format, closed the fixed but not-closed bugs in the BTS and everything to have a nice and clean up to date anarchism package. BTW, if somebody else wants to co-maintain this FAQ, I've no issues about co-maintaining as a team or with a couple of co-maintainers. (It doesn't require much work at all, but just in case). Any opinions are more than welcome. Re: all twitter client should support OAuth before they will drop Basic Auth in August
2010-06-28, Hideki Yamane: Hi, As I reported in Bug#587420, all twitter client should support OAuth since twitter will discard basic auth. If they not, we should drop them from Squeeze release. These lists are assumed to be affected packages (got with apt-cache search twitter). python-twitter: not yet, see http://code.google.com/p/python-twitter/issues/detail?id=65 Python-twitter doesn't seem to be on shape to be released, since the last commit is from 06/13 and there isn't a single line regarding oauth. Also the author from oauth-python-twitter (which can be integrated in some way with p-twitter) last commit was in November (last year) and the project has a couple of open bugs (with some patches waiting for approval). So unless there's a marathonic session to close bugs and update both projects to make this oauth thing work just fine, I agree on dropping it from the release. Re: Huge lag between submitting a bug and replies
2009-10-28, Frans Pop: The time between submitting bugs (or sending messages to control) and the BTS acting on them is currently much longer than it used to be and, IMHO, should be. Is this a deliberate change or known issue? Example: #552576 was submitted 27 Oct 2009 16:26:17 UTC, received by bugs.d.o 16:26:25 UTC, but only registered in the BTS 23:00:12 UTC, more than 6 hours later. Same here, from msmtp log: oct 27 14:20:05 (...) from=ma...@cacavoladora.org recipients=sub...@bugs.debian.org mailsize=2105 smtpstatus=250 smtpmsg='250 ok' exitcode=EX_OK Which was a wishlist bug to scrotwm, and I'm still waiting.
To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-devel-spanish-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
Re: good way to change a name of a package
On Mon, 15 Jun 2009, Atsuhito Kohda wrote: Hi all, I've maintained ttf-mathematica4.1 but it was obsolete now (for MathML and for Mathematica also) but someone has requested me to keep maintenance of a package for Mathematica fonts. I've not so good motivation for it but I build a new package for Mathematica fonts named mathematica-fonts which installs the latest type1, ttf Mathematica fonts which could be useful for a Mathematica user from remote terminal. In this situation, is it enough for me to upload a new mathematica-fonts package (as only version up) or is there anything I should do before uploading? I think an obsolete ttf-mathematica4.1 is very annoying for Debian and it should be replaced with mathematica-fonts or removed completely as soon as possible. Hi there, If I understood correctly, you could add a new package entry declaring ttf-mathematica as dummy package with a dependency on mathematica-fonts, and mathematica-fonts with replaces, provides and conflicts to ttf-mathematica. (Note that these fields should be compared to the latest version of ttf-math). To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-devel-spanish-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
