Why? Debian ships decoders for H264, so it should work out of the box,
without third party repositories.

From the ffmpeg README.Debian:

Currently the following video encoders are disabled in the ffmpeg
package: H263, H264, MPEG2 video, MPEG4 and MS-MPEG4. No *decoders* are
disabled in any the ffmpeg package!

Or am I missing something here? :)

Have you reported this as a bug upstream so proper quirks can be added?

I do see this this in the changelog for 2.6.29-1:

 * [x86] unset DRM_I915_KMS due to upgrade path from Lenny override
 with modeset module param.

...so I guess just adding i915.modeset=1 to the kernel command line
should make it go. Once i686-bigmem packages for 2.6.31 get
autobuilt (KMS wasn't compatable with PAE prior to this release),
I'll follow up to 521596 if config changes seem to be necessary
 after all.

As I mentioned on the intel-gfx list. For KMS on Intel you'll need to
boot with video=i915:modeset=1

Also, make sure you're using 0.93.4 or later of initramfs-tools.

Having this more widely documented would probably be a good idea, as
upstream have just ripped out support for UMS...

Hi,

You will probably need to manually specify a mode line, something like
this:

(This question is probably more appropriate on debian-user or the xorg

There's also epdfview, described as in the lines of Evince but without

It is if you are running gnome-panel 2.16, but not in 2.14 (Etch) I

Anyway, I think the original poster complained about the lack of a menu
