Re: Bug#755382: ITP: fonts-adobe-sourcehansans-cn -- “Source Han Sans CN” A sans-serif Pan-CJK font family (CN subset) that is offered in seven weights
Have a look at #754926 (fonts-noto). Adobe Source Han Sans fonts are actually the same with Google's Noto Sans CJK ones. Just different names. Personally I prefer Noto as the name. Noto sounds more distinctive than Source to me. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-devel-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? I would be happy to be proven wrong on this; feel free to package it for main if fontforge can take the place of all the commands mentioned in the upstream build system. The way to prove that would be to only ship the non-OTF files in the source package and build the OTF files at build time using fontforge. Adobe might be unhappy at us for finding out we are using a non-standard build though, so it might be a good idea to ping them about AFDKO becoming FLOSS and let them know we will use fontforge until that happens. Might be a good idea to send them a Makefile that uses fontforge too. https://github.com/adobe-fonts/source-han-sans/blob/master/COMMANDS.txt Ken Lunde lu...@adobe.com -- bye, pabs https://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-devel-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Apparently Read Roberts is in the final stages of preparing to open-source AFDKO. Also Ken suggests not using FontForge because in his experience, it often produces malformed fonts. -- bye, pabs https://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-devel-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Hi On Mon, 21 Jul 2014, Paul Wise wrote: Due to the need for Adobe's ADFKO, this will have to go to contrib. IIRC ADFKO will become open source at some point and the font could move to main then. Why? There are many fonts around in otf format and packaged for Debian. I don't see that problem here. Is the ADFKO needed for building? We never *build* a otf font but ship it.
