Fwd: [D-I] Post-release notes
(This was supposed to be BCC'ed to d-ports...) -- Forwarded Message -- Subject: [D-I] Post-release notes Date: Saturday 18 March 2006 03:25 From: Frans Pop [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: debian-boot@lists.debian.org As the last action for the Beta 2 release, the links for the daily images on [1] have been switched back to sid_d-i and thus can again be used to test the daily built images and latest uploads for udebs to unstable. Porters should also be aware that the mirror split [2] may affect new installs as mirrors following the reduced default set will no longer support most arches, but will still be listed the installer's mirror selection list for all architectures they previously carried. The mirror selection component currently does _not_ check if an arch is actually available on a mirror, so errors will only occur later during the installation (during either download of additional d-i components or package installation by debootstrap). There is an erratum [3] that explains the issue and that users can be pointed to. A safe mirror to use is ftp.nl.debian.org but there are probably others. ftp.debian.org is _not_ safe. Mirrors that are currently OK may still drop arches over the next month or so. This issue affects all arches, except i386.
