intreccio di protocolli

Ho notato che a volte quando mi mi connetto ad un FTP server 
(specie se proFTP, ma mi pare anche altri ), ricevo dal server dei tentativi 
di connessione sulla porta del servizio auth ( 113 )

Qualcuno sa perche? (succede anche con qualche mirror Debian).
Cosa fa auth?

Un'altra stranezza e' che quando scarico la posta con fetchmail, ippl mi da dei
messaggi del tipo:

ICMP message type destination unreachable - bad port from 127.0.0.1

???

anche chiamato identd ... e' il demone (tipicamente unix ) che dice
qual'e' l'utente che ha aperto quel socket .. sendmail lo usa per
sapere chi ha aperto realmente quella porta ... a volte utile a volte no 
Viene molto usato su IRC
