Sto provando a ricompilare il kernel in una sarge installata su un notebook (asus S8200); compilo il kernel, creo il mio .deb e lo installo. Veramente il config in /boot lo avevo preso anch'io come base per il nuovo kernel ed avevo aggiunto soltanto, non avevo tolto nulla (anzi, ext3 l'ho messo addirittura dentro il kernel direttamente invece che come modulo per evitare che fosse un problema di caricamento dei moduli!). Il config che prendo da /boot è però per la versione 2.4 del kernel, mentre io sto cercando di compilare una versione 2.6... non centra niente? Poi un'altra cosa che mi viene in mente; il nuovo kernel l'ho compilato senza intrd mentre il kernel vecchio lo utilizza... non centra niente? conviene includere initrd? Ok, direi che cambia e pure non poco. Installa prima lo stock kernel di debian di modo da avere un config adeguato. Il problema/vantaggio di initrd è che il boot lo fa initrd poi, è questi che si occupa di caricare eventuali moduli necessari per leggere l'effettivo fs di root ed attivare altri servizi vari. Se non vuoi smadonnare come ho faccio io, compila con initrd e ti semplifichi la vita (spero). Veramente il config in /boot lo avevo preso anch'io come base per il nuovo kernel ed avevo aggiunto soltanto, non avevo tolto nulla (anzi, ext3 l'ho messo addirittura dentro il kernel direttamente invece che come modulo per evitare che fosse un problema di caricamento dei moduli!). :\ si ma se compili alla debian-way ricordati --initrd altrimenti non ti fa l'initrd e col cavolo che ti monta la root quando provi a farlo bootare! P.
