Bug#614365: Move designer plugins to libqt4-dev
On 05.03.2011 17:39, Fathi Boudra wrote: Why do you want to move the declarative plugin? Afaics, only the qt3support plugin requires to be moved. Imho it would be inconsistent to put some designer plugins in libqt4-dev and the other in the regular lib package. How much space is saved? libqt4-designer uses 9-10 MB disk space. Bug#617352: kdebase-workspace: NFS shares are not mounted as a user
Package: kdebase-workspace Version: 4:4.4.5-8 Severity: normal When applied to the KDE desktop can be a NFS share as a user directory from the NFS server can not be mounted. It appears on the screen an error message. Drive can not embed. The error message reads: mount: only root can do that A manual mount the NFS shares works on the command line, however, correct. After an intensive search on the internet for a solution I have found following workaround. If the link file of the NFS shares on the desktop line with the keyword MountPoint is deleted, the NFS share mounted as a normal user via desktop icon. Example: How not to mount. [Desktop Entry] Dev=redfox:/mnt/misc Icon=folder-remote Mountpoint=/mnt/share/misc Read only=false Type=FSDevice UnmountIcon=nfs_unmount How it works correctly. Bug#536441: [kdm] kdm-settings does not start as root: quick-and-dirty fix
Package: kdm Version: 4:4.4.5-7 Tags: patch A quick-and-dirty fix would be to simply launch something like kdesu kcmshell4 kdm from the kdm settings dialog if we are not root: #include QProcess if (geteuid() != 0) { // launch kdesu, workaround until KDE 4.5 for debian bugs 523094 536441 546376 575746 580269 602976 QProcess kdesu_process; kdesu_process.startDetached(/usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kdesu,QStringList(/usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/kdmconfig_root.sh)); } content of /usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/kdmconfig_root.sh: #!/bin/sh [ $(id -u) -eq 0 ] kcmshell4 kdm The id check is necessary because if a user presses the ignore button another kdm-settings would be launched which asks him for the root password again. Code status: This code is not yet tested inside kdm-config, only inside a demo qt application, because I have no experience with patching and building kdm. If you think it is good I can test it further. The shell script was tested as root and non-root with dash and bash. I tagged this patch because it is probably only a few lines away from being a real patch. If you think the tagging is wrong, please remove it. This solution would, in contrast to adding a button or message box, not require any locale changes. Kmail composer freezing on unstable?
Hi, I have Debian sid and kde 4.5.1 from debian-qt-kde. As I understand, the experimental repository does not have kdepim, so my kmail is still from kdepim 4.4. This setup has been working very well for months. On Friday, I updated the system for the first time since the squeeze release, and my Kmail has started to misbehave: When composing a new message, Kmail freezes and does not take any more keystrokes. This happens during various times during the composition process, sometimes right at the beginning, but if one has come through to hitting Alt-Enter to send the mail, this is the latest point at which Kmail _always_ freezes without sending the message. Is this a known phenomenon with, possibly, an already available workaround? I really really hate Thunderbird... Greetings Marc -- - Marc Haber | I don't trust Computers. Plasma-Effects / KWin-Crashhandler on some GUI-events
Hello, I am using debian/xorg with KDE experimental, but have some problems with the plasma-desktop. When an app tries to open a window (special kind of window) then I get message from KWin crashed, desktop gets down and restarts, after all - the effects are disabled and i have to switch it on by hand again, which also brings some unimportant error-boxes with it which i can ignore (crashhandler). The app itself continues run normally . this special kinds of windows are for example these which are opened for example on seamonkey when it asks for really sending mail out or not ... all the rest works normal. also when starting a playstation1 emu (pcsx) same happens, emu runs, but effects are disabled out of this Kwin crash ... This prob does not depends on a special app, it happens on several apps, including amarok. also on normal work - taskbar and plasmanoids are really slow , so they stops for some seconds before it continue. Im using an pentium4/dualcore 2GB ram and intel gfx-board. what's wrong ? is this fixable ? kind regards, Ralf Moeller -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
