Bug#650392: marked as done (gwenview: After using "Save as", the original picture is edited)

Please contact ow...@bugs.debian.org immediately.) -- 650392: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=650392 Debian Bug Tracking System Contact ow...@bugs.debian.org with problems --- Begin Message --- Package: gwenview Version: 4:4.4.5-2 Severity: normal Tags: squeeze After using "save as" (and of course not clicking "go back to the original picture") and then continuing to edit the new picture (e.g. change size) and saving the changes, the original picture is edited and not the copy that was created. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Open a picture with Gwenview, e.g. picture.jpeg. Select File - Save as ... and save it e.g. as picture-small.jpeg because you intend to make a smaller copy for e-mailing/uploading. An informational message appears: "You are now viewing the new picture" with an option to return to the original - do not choose this option. The informational message disappears automatically. Note that the titlebar of Gwenview mentions the file name and it is "picture-small.jpeg", not the original photo "picture.jpeg". Click the Operations tab, click Change size, enter a new size, e.g. 500 (meaning change to target width of 500 pixels), confirm. Save by clicking the save button that appears on top of the photo. Actual Results: The original photo picture.jpeg now has a width of 500 pixels. The "saved as" copy picture-small.jpeg still has the old size. Expected Results: The original photo picture.jpeg should be unchanged. The "saved as" copy picture-small.jpeg should have the new width of 500 pixels. How does this bug cause data loss: At first it doesn't, if one notices what has happened and that the "picture-edited.jpeg" or "picture-small.jpeg" one has just created still is the original. But I for example have now lost several original (full size, uncropped) photos due to this bug because I did not realize what was happening at first: - I created the smaller version. - When I want to e-mail or upload it, it is still too large (of course, because picture-small.jpeg is the original-size photo). I think: Either I did not make it small enough, or I made a mistake when using Gwenview (forgot to save, typed in the wrong number of pixels or something like this). - I open the picture-small.jpeg "again" (as I think) and make it "even smaller". When I save it, there is now no more full size / uncropped version of the photo existing. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0.3 APT prefers proposed-updates APT policy: (500, 'proposed-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=ru_RU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=ru_RU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages gwenview depends on: ii kdebase-runtime 4:4.4.5-1runtime components from the offici ii libc6 2.11.2-10Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libexiv2-9 0.20-2 EXIF/IPTC metadata manipulation li ii libgcc1 1:4.4.5-8GCC support library ii libjpeg62 6b1-1The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libkdecore5 4:4.4.5-2+squeeze3 the KDE Platform Core Library ii libkdeui5 4:4.4.5-2+squeeze3 the KDE Platform User Interface Li ii libkfile4 4:4.4.5-2+squeeze3 the File Selection Dialog Library ii libkio5 4:4.4.5-2+squeeze3 the Network-enabled File Managemen ii libkipi74:4.4.5-2library for apps that want to use ii libkparts4 4:4.4.5-2+squeeze3 the Framework for the KDE Platform ii libnepomuk4 4:4.4.5-2+squeeze3 the Nepomuk Meta Data Library ii libphonon4 4:4.6.0really4.4.2-1 the core library of the Phonon mul ii libqt4-svg 4:4.6.3-4+squeeze1 Qt 4 SVG module ii libqtcore4 4:4.6.3-4+squeeze1 Qt 4 core module ii libqtgui4 4:4.6.3-4+squeeze1 Qt 4 GUI module ii libstdc++6 4.4.5-8 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii phonon 4:4.6.0really4.4.2-1 metapackage for the Phonon multime gwenview recommends no packages. gwenview suggests no packages. -- no debconf information --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Dear submitter, these bug are tagged squeeze without any wheezy/jessie/stretch tag implying that the

At my office, I connect it to an external monitor via HDMI. At home I do not have any external monitor so I only use the laptop's monitor (LVDS1). With the external monitor plugged in, I managed to configure to have 2 displays, HDMI1 on the left of LVDS1 with a different size. I set a different desktop activity on both (i.e. on HDMI1 I set a different wallpaper, and no widgets, whereas LVDS1 is my main desktop, so it has many widgets, the task bar, the menu launcher, etc...) Problem number 1: HDMI1 appears as display 1, and LVDS1 as display 2. I set to show unmanaged windows on Display 2, but windows do appear on display 1 sometimes. I could not find a pattern. The KDE startup animation (right after the login screen) appears on display 1. Problem number 2: if I boot without the external monitor, KDE starts with the 2nd desktop (the one that belongs to the external monitor) displayed instead of my main desktop (the one that belongs to LVDS1). This is very annoying because it makes the computer very difficult to use. So it seems that KRandRTray does not detect properly what configuration to use. So here are a few suggestions: - I wish there was more control in KRandRTray and more help available (in the manual, online, etc...) - It should be possible to save several configurations, and have a way to specify conditional rules, such as: "use config 2 if HDMI1 is connected, otherwise use config 1" -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_SG.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_SG.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages kdebase-workspace-bin depends on: ii kaboom 1.1.2The Debian KDE settings migration ii kdebase-runtime 4:4.4.5-1runtime components from the offici ii kdebase-workspace-d 4:4.4.5-4shared data files for the KDE Plas ii kdebase-workspace-k 4:4.4.5-4KDE greet libraries for authentica ii libc6 2.11.2-7 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libfontconfig1 2.8.0-2.1generic font configuration library ii libfreetype62.4.2-2.1FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgcc1 1:4.4.5-6GCC support library ii libgl1-mesa-glx [li 7.7.1-4 A free implementation of the OpenG ii libglib2.0-02.24.2-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libice6 2:1.0.6-2X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libkde3support4 4:4.4.5-1the KDE 3 Support Library for the ii libkdecore5 4:4.4.5-1the KDE Platform Core Library ii libkdeui5 4:4.4.5-1the KDE Platform User Interface Li ii libkephal4 4:4.4.5-4API for easier handling of multihe ii libkfile4 4:4.4.5-1the File Selection Dialog Library ii libkio5 4:4.4.5-1the Network-enabled File Managemen ii libknewstuff2-4 4:4.4.5-1the "Get Hot New Stuff" v2 Library ii libknewstuff3-4 4:4.4.5-1the "Get Hot New Stuff" v3 Library ii libknotifyconfig4 4:4.4.5-1library for configuring KDE Notifi ii libkparts4 4:4.4.5-1the Framework for the KDE Platform ii libkpty44:4.4.5-1the Pseudo Terminal Library for th ii libkscreensaver54:4.4.5-4library of the KDE Screensaver sys ii libkutils4 4:4.4.5-1various utility classes for the KD ii libkworkspace4 4:4.4.5-4library for the kdebase workspace ii libnepomuk4 4:4.4.5-1the Nepomuk Meta Data Library ii libnepomukquery4a 4:4.4.5-1the Nepomuk Query Library for the ii libntrack-qt4-1 008-1qt4 API for ntrack ii

After this update background jobs is "eating" all recources of my PC(I have AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 5200+, 1,8G RAM). While this problem is happend, kdevelop use all available RAM, after than it use big piece if swap. During this time i see strong hard disk activity. Step to reproduce: Import some CMake based project Wait until start background jobs(I think this is project sources indexing) Look for RAM/HDD usage and activity. Also I would say project tree have cross symlinks inside. Also as I can see kdevelop can not eat more than 1,8-2G RAM (I see this on another PC with Intel C2D, 4G RAM inside) If you need additional info I'm ready to answer. P.S. kdevelop and kdevplatform version ".1" is only recompiled sources available via deb-src repo(using apt-get source + dpkg-buildpackage). But this has no effect, regression is still present. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (111, 'unstable'), (110, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=uk_UA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=uk_UA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages kdevelop depends on: ii kdebase-runtime 4:4.4.4-1 runtime components from the offici ii kdevelop-data4:4.0.0-2.1 data files for the KDevelop IDE ii kdevplatform1-libs 1.0.0-1.1 shared libraries for the KDevelop ii lcov 1.8-1.1 Summarise Code coverage informatio ii libc62.11.1-3Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libgcc1 1:4.4.4-5 GCC support library ii libkdecore5 4:4.4.4-2 the KDE Platform Core Library ii libkdeui54:4.4.4-2 the KDE Platform User Interface Li ii libkio5 4:4.4.4-2 the Network-enabled File Managemen ii libkparts4 4:4.4.4-2 the Framework for the KDE Platform ii libktexteditor4 4:4.4.4-2 the KTextEditor interfaces for the ii libprocessui4a 4:4.4.4-1 library for ksysguard process user ii libqt4-dbus 4:4.6.3-1 Qt 4 D-Bus module ii libqt4-help 4:4.6.3-1 Qt 4 help module ii libqt4-network 4:4.6.3-1 Qt 4 network module ii libqt4-script4:4.6.3-1 Qt 4 script module ii libqt4-webkit4:4.6.3-1 Qt 4 WebKit module ii libqtcore4 4:4.6.3-1 Qt 4 core module ii libqtgui44:4.6.3-1 Qt 4 GUI module ii libstdc++6 4.4.4-5 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libsublime1 1.0.0-1.1 an user interface library ii libthreadweaver4 4:4.4.4-2 the ThreadWeaver Library for the K Versions of packages kdevelop recommends: ii gdb 7.0.1-2The GNU Debugger ii valgrind 1:3.5.0-3 A memory debugger and profiler Versions of packages kdevelop suggests: ii cmake 2.8.1-5A cross-platform, open-source make ii kdevelop-l10n-uk [kdevelop-l1 4:4.0.0-2 Ukrainian (uk) localization files -- no debconf information --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Dear submitter, these bug are tagged squeeze without any wheezy/jessie/stretch tag implying that the bug is not present in more recent Debian releases. squeeze is no longer supported. Even when printing invoices the prices are printed as described above. Using the sql browser from the demos this error shows, pgadmin3 displays the same numeric numbers as it should be. So there's no error in the database and no errors inserting numeric numbers with my ERP program. I compiled qt-4.5.3 manually and linked my program against it. Everything then shows as it should be w/o errors and printouts display the prices as it should be. I even compiled qt-4.7.0 manually and got the same error as in 4.6.2. I guess it's a qt bug. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-3-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages libqt4-dev depends on: ii libc6 2.10.2-6 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libgcc1 1:4.4.2-9GCC support library ii libqt4-assistant4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 assistant module ii libqt4-dbus 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 D-Bus module ii libqt4-designer 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 designer module ii libqt4-help 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 help module ii libqt4-multimedia 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 Multimedia module ii libqt4-network 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 network module ii libqt4-qt3support 4:4.6.2-4Qt 3 compatibility library for Qt ii libqt4-script 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 script module ii libqt4-scripttools 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 script tools module ii libqt4-sql 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 SQL module ii libqt4-svg 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 SVG module ii libqt4-test 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 test module ii libqt4-webkit 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 WebKit module ii libqt4-xml 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 XML module ii libqt4-xmlpatterns 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 XML patterns module ii libqtcore4 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 core module ii libqtgui4 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 GUI module ii libstdc++6 4.4.2-9 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii qt4-qmake 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 qmake Makefile generator tool ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.4.dfsg-3 compression library - runtime Versions of packages libqt4-dev recommends: ii libqt4-opengl-dev 4:4.6.2-4 Qt 4 OpenGL library development fi Versions of packages libqt4-dev suggests: pn firebird2.1-dev(no description available) pn libmysqlclient-dev (no description available) ii libpq-dev 8.4.3-1header files for libpq5 (PostgreSQ pn libsqlite0-dev (no description available) pn libsqlite3-dev (no description available) ii qt4-dev-tools 4:4.6.2-4 Qt 4 development tools ii qt4-doc 4:4.6.2-4 Qt 4 API documentation pn unixodbc-dev (no description available) -- no debconf information --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Dear submitter, these bug are tagged squeeze without any wheezy/jessie/stretch tag implying that the bug is not present in more recent Debian releases. squeeze is no longer supported. I tried to open a .txt file to speak it, but I can't hear anything. Bug#856275: jovie: Doesn't do anything
Package: jovie Version: 4:16.08.0-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Dear Maintainer, I installed jovie, i have recommends enabled, I tried adding a talker but the "ok" button was disabled in the selection window, so I couldn't. I closed the configuration window, randomly pressed "resume/stop/resume" in the tray icon. Then the menu item to open the configuration became disabled. Killing it and restarting it doesn't re-enable the configuration menu entry, so it doesn't seem to be possible to configure it to make something useful. Either some dependencies are missing, or the package is extremely broken/untested. Bug#856195: sddm: /usr/share/sddm/faces/username.face.icon is ignored
Hello! Thanks I'll do that. I have 2 non system users only though. Could it be caused by my avatar image being very large? I just use a photo and didn't bother making a smaller version.
