After using "save as" (and of course not clicking "go back to the original
picture") and then continuing to edit the new picture (e.g. change size) and
saving the changes, the original picture is edited and not the copy that was
created.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Open a picture with Gwenview, e.g. picture.jpeg.
Select File - Save as ... and save it e.g. as picture-small.jpeg because you
intend to make a smaller copy for e-mailing/uploading.
An informational message appears: "You are now viewing the new picture" with an
option to return to the original - do not choose this option. The informational
message disappears automatically.
Note that the titlebar of Gwenview mentions the file name and it is
"picture-small.jpeg", not the original photo "picture.jpeg".
Click the Operations tab, click Change size, enter a new size, e.g. 500
(meaning change to target width of 500 pixels), confirm.
Save by clicking the save button that appears on top of the photo.

Actual Results:
The original photo picture.jpeg now has a width of 500 pixels. The "saved as"
copy picture-small.jpeg still has the old size.

Expected Results:
The original photo picture.jpeg should be unchanged. The "saved as" copy
picture-small.jpeg should have the new width of 500 pixels.

How does this bug cause data loss:
At first it doesn't, if one notices what has happened and that the
"picture-edited.jpeg" or "picture-small.jpeg" one has just created still is the
original.
But I for example have now lost several original (full size, uncropped) photos
due to this bug because I did not realize what was happening at first:
- I created the smaller version.
- When I want to e-mail or upload it, it is still too large (of course, because
picture-small.jpeg is the original-size photo). I think: Either I did not make
it small enough, or I made a mistake when using Gwenview (forgot to save, typed
in the wrong number of pixels or something like this).
- I open the picture-small.jpeg "again" (as I think) and make it "even
smaller". When I save it, there is now no more full size / uncropped version of
the photo existing.

kdepim in Unstable is Version 4.4.11.1 as well as the the groupware plugins in
package kdepim-groupware. The rest of kde is 4.6.3 or 4.6.4.

kmail (4.4.11.1) with imap access to the groupwise Server (7.0) works.

Access to the soap-port of a post office on the groupwise server does not work.

korganizer as well as the KDE-resource module of the KDE control center both
initiate a connection (SYN, SYN-ACK, ACK) but instantly close the connection
with FIN (the ports - imap and 7191 for soap - are forwarded from the localhost
via ssh to the groupwise server, but this used to work under debian lenny and i
can contact the soap server via telnet). korganizer gives a message "Error
while loading groupwise. Login not possible", the KDE-resource module does not
complain about anything. When run from the command line there are not any
messages. The credentials are correct because they still work in Debian Lenny.

I also noticed that kio_groupwise gets never loaded.

Maybe kdepim must also be updated to 4.6.3 / .4?

This happens on my latptop. At my office, I connect it to an external monitor
via HDMI. At home I do not have any external monitor so I only use the laptop's
monitor (LVDS1).
With the external monitor plugged in, I managed to configure to have 2
displays, HDMI1 on the left of LVDS1 with a different size. I set a different
desktop activity on both (i.e. on HDMI1 I set a different wallpaper, and no
widgets, whereas LVDS1 is my main desktop, so it has many widgets, the task
bar, the menu launcher, etc...)

Problem number 1: HDMI1 appears as display 1, and LVDS1 as display 2. I set to
show unmanaged windows on Display 2, but windows do appear on display 1
sometimes. I could not find a pattern. The KDE startup animation (right after
the login screen) appears on display 1.

Problem number 2: if I boot without the external monitor, KDE starts with the
2nd desktop (the one that belongs to the external monitor) displayed instead of
my main desktop (the one that belongs to LVDS1). This is very annoying because
it makes the computer very difficult to use.

So it seems that KRandRTray does not detect properly what configuration to use.
So here are a few suggestions:
- I wish there was more control in KRandRTray and more help available (in the
manual, online, etc...)
- It should be possible to save several configurations, and have a way to
specify conditional rules, such as: "use config 2 if HDMI1 is connected,
otherwise use config 1"

With phonon-backend-vlc KDE is unable to play sounds at all. Instead sounds
like "preview" in Dolphin are played using the
internal pc-speaker. Also i have read, that this backend requires VLC 1.1.4,
which is not shipped in Squeeze. Perhaps
this may get the sound to work properly.

Package: kdevelop
Version: 4:4.0.0-2.1
Severity: critical
Tags: squeeze
Justification: breaks unrelated software

About week ago I had several minor updates in Qt libs. After this update
background jobs is "eating" all recources of my PC(I have AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2
5200+, 1,8G RAM). While this problem is happend, kdevelop use all available
RAM, after than it use big piece if swap. During this time i see strong
hard disk activity.
Step to reproduce:
Import some CMake based project
Wait until start background jobs(I think this is project sources indexing)
Look for RAM/HDD usage and activity.

Also I would say project tree have cross symlinks inside.
Also as I can see kdevelop can not eat more than 1,8-2G RAM (I see this on
another PC with Intel C2D, 4G RAM inside)

If you need additional info I'm ready to answer.

P.S. kdevelop and kdevplatform version ".1" is only recompiled sources available
via deb-src repo(using apt-get source + dpkg-buildpackage). But this has no
effect,
regression is still present.

The konqueror browser does not provide the facility to include exceptions in
the appearance menu. If the browser is configured not to display images, then
no images appear on the web pages at all, even those from the local intranet.
It would be useful, if we could add exceptions here, so that images from the
local intranet or selected websites could still be displayed, whilst images
from the rest of the internet are still not displayed.

I propose an additional option to provide this facility as follows;

Menu, Settings, Configure Konqueror, Expander: Web Browsing: Expanded,
Appearance, Tab: General, Tickbox: Automatically Load Images: Unticked,
Button: Exceptions, Prompt: exclusions (comma separated list)>
192.168,0,0/16, 10.0.0.0/8, foobar.foo.bar, Button: Ok

Dear maintainers,

it seems, that since the last update the option "filter" does not work
properly. I was pointed to it by a friend, who wanted to move all mails with an
email address inside the addressbook to be moved into another folder.

I checked for myself, and yes: It does not work.

To verify it, I added her address into my addressbook and created a filter
rule "from" --> "mailaddress inside addressbook"

with the action

"move mail into the rquired folder" (in my case it was the folder "Lokale
Ordner/Attack" just for this testing purposes)

I also added a sound event by a commmand: play /usr/share/sounds/test.wav,
which worked perfectly.

So just movement did not work. Can someone confirm this behaviour?
Thanks for any help.

Hans-J. Ullrich

Hello,

In kwin config module for oxygen, gradients are disabled for Firefox,
Thunderbird and Gimp. However, in Debian we should add Iceweasel and
Icedove. Maybe we should add a few more Gtk apps. The ideal would be
to disable kwin gradients for all Gtk apps but I dont know whether
this is possible.

Regards,

Laurent

I use a ERP program with qt + postgresql to run my small business and with the
upgrade of qt packages from 4.5.3 to 4.6 the zeros in prices are cutoff like
this,
34.00 is displayed as 34 and 25.20 as 25.2 .
Even when printing invoices the prices are printed as described above.

Using the sql browser from the demos this error shows, pgadmin3 displays the
same
numeric numbers as it should be. So there's no error in the database and no
errors
inserting numeric numbers with my ERP program.

I compiled qt-4.5.3 manually and linked my program against it. Everything then
shows
as it should be w/o errors and printouts display the prices as it should be.
I even compiled qt-4.7.0 manually and got the same error as in 4.6.2.
I guess it's a qt bug.

Title: ktnef: Directory Traversal
Risk Rating:Medium
CVE:TBC
Versions:   ktnef <= 5.4.2 (KDE Applications 16.12.2)
Date: 27 February 2017

Overview

A directory traversal issue was found in ktnef which can
be exploited by tricking a user into opening a malicious winmail.dat file.
The issue allows to write files with the permission of the user opening

Dear,

The libreoffice-kde package is built upon qt4, but deserves a port to

Can you advice how I can help to give it attention and support?

Bug#856195: sddm: /usr/share/sddm/faces/username.face.icon is ignored

2017-02-27 Thread Anthony
Package: sddm
Version: 0.14.0-2
Bug#856195

I solved by downloading the source package sddm, edited the file
“sddm-0.14.0/src/greeter/UserModel.cpp” and applied these changes:
...
const QString facesDir = mainConfig.Theme.FacesDir.get();
- const QString defaultFace = QStringLiteral("file://%1/.fac
e.icon").arg(facesDir);
+ const QString defaultFace = QStringLiteral("%1/.face.icon"
).arg(facesDir);
...
// search for face icon
user->icon = defaultFace;

+   QString userFace = QStringLiteral("%1/.face.icon").arg(user->homeDir);
+   if (QFile::exists(userFace))
+ user->icon = userFace;
...

and compiled with:
cd sddm-0.14.0
debuild -i -us -uc -b -d
cd ..
dpkg -i sddm_0.14.0-2_amd64.deb
apt-mark hold sddm
systemctl daemon-reload
systemctl restart sddm

After restart the service, the icons have reappeared.

Thanks,
Anthony

Package: jovie
Version: 4:16.08.0-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,
I installed jovie, i have recommends enabled, I tried adding a talker but the
"ok" button
was disabled in the selection window, so I couldn't.

I closed the configuration window, randomly pressed "resume/stop/resume" in the
tray icon.

Then the menu item to open the configuration became disabled. Killing it and
restarting it
doesn't re-enable the configuration menu entry, so it doesn't seem to be
possible to
configure it to make something useful.

Either some dependencies are missing, or the package is extremely
broken/untested.

I was just able to have Jovie speak a text file. I had to add a second
talker and switch to it, then that worked. It seems that Jovie can sometimes
get stuck but overall it works fine here.

I think it's better to discuss this on debian-user as it's rather an issue
with how to use Jovie than being a bug. Closing therefore.

2017-02-27 Thread Salvo Tomaselli
So, it appears that the issue with adding a talker was that I didn't
add a name, and there is no "*" or whatever
to indicate that it's a necessary field.

So now i have a speaker. I tried to open a .txt file to speak it, but
I can't hear anything.

I'm using amarok at the moment so volume isn't muted.

I just installed jovie, added a English US speaker with the name "Joe"
and was able to use Jovie just fine.

Can you please try again? If it works, I would like to close this bug again.

Sorry, I forgot to ask. This was reported against the version of sddm that was
present in experimental at the time. Using sddm 0.13.0-1 in the same system works as
expected (if you haven't tested this before you might need to use

I suspect that this is due to the display of face icons by default
(which is also rather pointless for many user systems btw.)

I tried different themes (breeze, circles, maledives) without success.
According to https://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/SDDM/ the latter two may work
without face browsing by default?

The config option 'EnableAvatars' only seems to exist for 0.14.

marking this as high so it blocks updates for people who have apt-listbug

The new release of sddm is showing the generic user icon for every user and
no longer using the images I placed in /usr/share/sddm/faces/

It's kind of pointless to have icons for the users if they all look identical.

tl;dr: Add this block to your /etc/sddm.conf (create the file if it doesn't
exists):

[Theme]
EnableAvatars=true

The new version of sddm has a new configuration option
(DisableAvatarsThreshold) that disables the use of the avatars when the amount
of users is greater than this value. This option reduces the time sddm takes
to load in systems that have a large number of users, that probably have their
home directories using nfs automount.

The upstream default is 7, which is kind of low. If you have more than 7 users
in your system you might want to raise this value, or you can explicitly set
the EnableAvatars value.

This is documented in the generated example configuration file in
(/usr/share/doc/sddm/sddm.conf), I'm requesting upstream to
document this option in the sddm.conf manpage.

Happy hacking,
