Bug#950127: pyside2 fails all autopkg tests

2020-02-17 Thread Steve Langasek
Package: pyside2
Followup-For: Bug #950127
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu focal ubuntu-patch

These tests fail because the test dependencies are always buggy when there
is more than one supported version of python in the archive; the tests
invoke py3versions to enumerate the versions of python to test against, but
there is no test dependency on python3-all, so no version of python other
than the default python3 is guaranteed to be installed.

The attached patch should fix this; I've uploaded this change to Ubuntu.
Please consider including it in Debian as well.

Would it be better then to make them as a tied migration to avoid
regressions in testing? Or that's not how KDE packages are migrating
normally?

Great!

While I am studying Debian packaging I like to understand why KDE packaging

Well, it depends. On one side I think kde stuff is composed of many more
source packages.

On the other side Rene, the LO maintainer, has been doing a wonderful job
in keeping it up to date. Now that this does not means we in the Qt/KDE
team haven't ;-)

I do not expect an e-mail thread about this, maybe I could meet with a

I *think* that currently most of the KDE parts are maintained by Pino, you
might want to ask him if he is able to provide you help with introducing
you to packaging it.

You can also hang around in #debian-kde on oftc and ping us there.

On the Qt side we need help, but we are currently failing to even provide
help to newcomers... we are very short on time :-(

Non the less feel free to ping me if you need packaging advice. I might not
be able to answer everything but I'll certainly try.

Cheers, Lisandro.

Bug#951523: dolphin: installing dolphin on xfce is missing a kde component for file transfer

2020-02-17 Thread Jochen
Package: dolphin
Version: 4:18.08.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Installing dolpin using xfce as desktop environment on debian 10.3.

Copying files do NOT show the file transfer dialog. So you never know when it
is done. This is particular bad when copying to a slow USB stick. As the stick
might be removed before the transfer is finished, corrupting the file system
It seems the problem has been also detected already with Manjaro:
https://forum.manjaro.org/t/bug-kde-applications-do-not-pull-in-kuiserver-which-now-is-in-plasma-workspace/69675

Unfortunatlly there is no kuiserver package in debian.
Installing the complete plasma-desktop as a workaround pulls in a lot of
dependencies filling 1GB of diskspace. Thus only adding this as a dependency
might not be the best idea. But I could not figure out which packet is
acctually needed.

2020-02-17 Thread Leos Pohl
Package: okular
Version: 4:17.12.2-2.2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

when one creates an inline note and enters certain national specific
characters, such as ě or č, they are not displayed in the rendering of
the inline note while they are correctly displayed when editing the
inline note.

Packaging resources

2020-02-17 Thread Luc Castermans
Hi,

I read many times "the Debian KDE"-packaging team to be short of resources.
Being a KDE-fan I am very much willing to help and started to lean about
Debian packaging.

While I am studying Debian packaging I like to understand why KDE packaging
needs so much effort. For example the LibreOffice package seems almost
instantly available as soon as an up-stream release became available. Does
LibreOffice need less Debian packaging effort?

I do not expect an e-mail thread about this, maybe I could meet with a
knowledgeable DD on this, either F2F (I live in South of Netherlands) or
virtual.

Regards

DPlugins have replaced KIPI for Digikam:

See

https://www.digikam.org/news/2019-02-10-6.0.0_release_announcement/

(Web-Services Tools Factoring and Oauth Authentication.)

and

https://www.digikam.org/news/2019-04-14-6.1.0_release_announcement/

(The New Plugins Interface “DPlugins”)

for the background on that.

All I see here is that, despite the removal of kipi-plugins, digikam
still has the export options.

Others have more knowledge than I about the situation. I'd like to
thank them for passing on the information.

Thanks Rik,

I see they're now optional (digikam 6.4 depends no more on them)
and hopefully they'll land in sid in a not so distant future ...

Thank you,

They were split to a new source by KDE, and made part of KDE
applications/release-service.

The new source upload is in the ftp master's NEW queue:

Do you mean one should install digikam instead of kipi-plugins now if they
need export from KDE apps?

Also, please note that they have been kept around after digikam totally
dropped them just for compatibility purpose, but they are basically replaced
by the Purpose framework also in the other projects. See also:

You don't need kipi-plugins any more, also, kipi-plugins-common can go,
too. In fact, upgrading (here, at least) required its removal. A log
out and back in and all the export options still exist.

You may have to remove another package (I had to remove libgdal20) prior
to upgrading digikam. It probably depends on a) what you've had
installed before and b) what you use to perform upgrades, as they can
treat things differently regarding removals, etc.
