Bug#1029656: Unexpected transition: libkscreen

2023-01-25 Thread Aurélien COUDERC
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: transition
X-Debbugs-Cc: libkscr...@packages.debian.org,
pkg-kde-t...@alioth-lists.debian.net
Control: affects -1 + src:libkscreen

Dear Release Team,

it has been raised to my attention that the libkscreen soname bump I
recently asked to accept has caused issues with packages outside the
Plasma package set… :-(
This was obviously not intentional and our team members with whom I
discussed the topic before uploading weren’t aware either.
And the timing to discover this is particularly bad.

Of course I should have checked more thoroughly myself, but here we are.

So moving forward, the following packages are affected :
- kylin-display-switch (kylin team) => rebuilds OK
- lxqt-config (lxqt team) => FTBFS due to new libkscreen (#1029611)
- ukui-control-center (kylin team) => FTBFS due to new libkscreen (#1029612)
- ukui-settings-daemon (kylin team) => FTBFS due to new libkscreen (#1029613)

1. LXQt
We’ve worked with the LXQt people and could fix #1029611 with
workarounds in libkscreen 4:5.26.90-3.
They will also have a new upstream release right away that would let us
drop these workarounds.

2. Kylin
I’ve not heard back from the Kylin maintainers yet.
The same workarounds fixed an initial set of issues, but there are more
code changes required to adapt to the new libkscreen API in order to fix
#1029612 and #1029613.

So again please accept my apologies and thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Coloured character borders in kterm

2023-01-25 Thread Miguel A. Vallejo
I have been testing some things trying to get the culprit package but
I didn't find anything.

The problem persists creating a new user and logging in with the new
user. I also tried different fonts in Konsole and some of them are
less affected than others but all of them have colored borders, making
the terminal a text rainbow.

I have seen some recent font related bugs in KDE's bugtracker but
none of them seem to match my problem.

Nobody else noticed this problem?

Is it possible I have a missing package somewhere? I have installed
task-kde-desktop but I'm not sure this guarantees all needed packages
are installed.

Thanks in advance

Re: Dragging icons at desktop

2023-01-25 Thread Miguel A. Vallejo
Any progress with this bug?

A lot of plasma packages have been updated since I reported it and it
is still present... but worse: Now sometimes the icon does not get
drawn at all while moving, disappearing until I drop it.

Thanks in advance

Long time ago actually.

Maybe time to drop that old habit :)

I still remember that an even longer time ago I needed to install some
GTK based desktop, cause Qt was completely broke. But that is really a
long long long time ago.

Thanks, Aurélien.

I am not in a hurry. Basically I just installed lxqt to have some
desktop at hand in case Plasma would not start up for some reason. But
maybe I better use simple GTK based desktop for that :)

Dear all,

I've just uploaded Plasma 5.27 beta to *unstable*.

We usually keep beta versions in experimental but this one is our target for
bookworm and I want to give it maximum exposure with the bookworm freeze
starting already.

I've been using it for a couple of days without major issue by YMMV of course,
it's beta software still.

Feel free to not update or hold Plasma packages if you don't want to use the
beta. I'll upload the final 5.27.0 as soon as it's released, so on Feb 14. or
close to that.

If you're interested, have a look at our Bookworm plans at [0] for more context
if you haven't already.

Also if you have time, now would be a good time testing bullseye -> bookworm
upgrades with the Plasma desktop installed and report anything broken (on spare
machines / VMs obviously, NOT on systems you need to rely on).

Hello, thanks for your work.

On the three systems I upgraded something broke latte-dock
configuration. The dock starts in default layout, cannot load any
previously saved layout, and no application can be pinned to it again.
I don't get any error message when starting from a console, so I don't
know what is causing the problem. So latte-dock users beware, but it is
hardly a mission critical app!

Bug#1029615: latte-dock starts with a default layout, impossible to restore previous one.

2023-01-25 Thread tv.debian

Package: latte-dock
Version: 0.10.9-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer(s),

   * What led up to the situation?
After latest plasma/qt update in Sid.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
I tried various ways to load my previous layout, tried removing
latte-dock cache, tried on three different machines.

   * What was the outcome of this action?
Latte-docks ignores custom layouts, always starts in a default one, and
rewrites a new layout at every restart in the .config/latte folder. Also
launched applications don't appear in the dock, and none can be added to it.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?
Being able to restore my custom layout.

installing libkf5screen8 (and removing lxqt in the process) solved the
issue for me as well.

Dear Kylin packaging team,

I has been raised to my attention that ukui-settings-daemon depends on
libkscreen, which I thought was used only by Plasma components.
So it turns out I have started an unplanned transition with my recent

upload of Plasma 5.26.90 (5.27 beta).

I’ll discuss with the release team how to sort the issue in a separate
bug report but in the meantime I’ve started rebuilding rdeps with the

You’ll find a amd64 sbuild log at [0].

I’d appreciate if you could investigate the matter quickly so we can
find a fix.

Please accept my apology for this, and we will handle future libkscreen
and Plasma libs soname bumps as proper transitions obviously…

My guess is that it's in KWin's upstream src/effects/windowview/ directory.

moves but I can't interact with anything. My music player keeps playing. I can
get to a console with ctrl+alt+f5 and it shows very low CPU activity. Nothing
in syslog or xsession-errors. I have to restart sddm or something similar.

I think the trigger is when I do an alt+tab switcher activity.

I have a near-identically configured/versioned laptop and don't see the issue
there. It's using an internal Intel GPU while my freezing desktop has an AMD RX
570.

Actually don't, there are more packages involved, I'm handling this with the
release team to fix the situation.

Thank for raising the issue.

Re: libreoffice-common

2023-01-25 Thread Reinhard Karcher

Just did the upgrade on my laptop and libkf5screen7 was replaced by
libkf5screen8 and also on my laptop everything seems to work fine \o/

Hmmm, I wasn't aware of that dependency and it's not going to make out life…
That means we should be handling soname bumps for libkscreen as transitions,
which would have meant no Plasma 5.27 for bookworm…
Currently I was considering these as libs for Plasma use only.

Could you check with the lxqt that they do the rebuild quickly enough that we
don't break more things ?
(If not I will, please tell me.)

Changed-By: Pino Toscano
Closes: 1012206
Changes:
 qtpim-opensource-src (5.0~git20201102.f9a8f0fc+dfsg1-3) unstable;
urgency=medium
 .
   * Team upload.
 .
   [ Debian Janitor ]
   * Apply multi-arch hints:
 + qtpim5-dev, qtpim5-examples: Add Multi-Arch: same.
 + qtpim5-doc, qtpim5-doc-html: Add Multi-Arch: foreign.
   * Remove constraints unnecessary since buster (oldstable):
 - Build-Depends: Drop versioned constraint on qml-module-qtquick2,
   qml-module-qttest, qtbase5-doc-html, qtbase5-private-dev,
   qtdeclarative5-doc-html, qtdeclarative5-private-dev and
   qttools5-dev-tools.
 .
   [ Pino Toscano ]
   * Split override_dh_auto_build:
 - the execution of syncqt.pl in execute_before_dh_auto_build, so it is run
before dh_auto_build in all the cases
 - turn the existing override_dh_auto_build-indep into
execute_after_dh_auto_build-indep: this way it is only generated when
building arch:all binaries too (saves build time otherwise)
   * Add the qdoc-qt5 indep build dependency, since now the documentation
generation is unconditionally done if arch:all binaries are built.
   * Drop all the architecture filtering in qtpim5-doc-html.install, and
qtpim5-doc.install: they are arch:all, on documentation is unconditionally
 built for them
 - drop the dh-exec shebang, and drop their execute bits, as they are no
more
   needed now
 - drop the dh-exec build dependency, no more needed now
   * Switch from override_dh_auto_install to execute_after_dh_auto_install, to
 avoid explicitly calling the former
 - move all the documentation-related bits into checks for documentation
packages being built, instead of checks for qdoc
   * Update standards version to 4.6.2, no changes needed.
   * Stop passing --fail-missing to dh_missing, as it is the default in compat
 13+.
   * Mark the xauth, and xvfb build dependencies as nocheck, as they are needed
 only by dh_auto_test.
   * Move the qtbase5-doc-html, and qtdeclarative5-doc-html build dependencies
as indep build dependency, as they are needed only when building the
 documentation (in arch:all binaries).
   * Use execute_after_dh_auto_clean to avoid invoking dh_auto_clean manually.
 .
   [ Guido Berhoerster ]
   * Remove cmake file belonging skeleton plugin. (Closes: #1012206)
