No korganizer, kmix, akregator icon in the task bar (but yes for kwrite...)

2023-08-20 Thread Carles Pina i Estany

Hi,

I'd like to ask something so I either open a bug or investigate more in
my system (or in case that anyone knows more, if someone has fixed it).

I use LXDE with some KDE applications. Some applications such as
korganizer, kmix, akregator: in the task bar I have a generic LXDE icon
(or the top-left icon if I have the application visible)

Other applications such as kcalc, kwrite or kate have the icons as
expected.

I guess that it's my problem but I'd like to confirm it. Can, some of
you, see the icons for korganizer, akregator, etc.?

This used to happen on bullseye and also on bookworm (at least for
korganizer, I think that the same for the other ones)

Thank you very much,

Unless you can find some error message in e.g. your syslog, there isn't
really much a maintainer can do.

The best thing would probably be to report the bug upstream at
https://bugs.kde.org/ if that hasn't been done yet. They know much
better how to debug this error. I'm sorry that I cannot do more than
that.

Hi,

FYI, I've requested plasma-workspace to be updated in Debian Stable and
will upload the fix to bookworm once the request is approved.

Hi All:

Not really sure if helps, but just in case: Could you check whether kded5
process is alive when you experience the problem?

Anything interesting in /var/log/syslog? The other thing I'd try first is to
play a little with nmctl so you can narrow down who might be the culprit.

Or 'journalctl -f' whilst attempting...things.

Ok, then that smells not like a kde problem to me.

Anything interesting in /var/log/syslog? The other thing I'd try first is to
play a little with nmctl so you can narrow down who might be the culprit.

What kind of network btw? WLAN? Mobile?

Restarting plasmashell doesn't help here. The nm applet seems to
reconnect and shows the available connections, but clicking on one
immediately yields a toast "Connection (name) deactivated" without even
trying to conect. I didn't know that behavior before.

Logout/Login => network fine.
