Re: How to create keyboard shortcuts in KDE?
Robert Gomułka wrote: could you tell me how to create keyboard shortcuts in KDE and whether they work or not? They do. I wanted to create some shortcuts for inserting commonly used text. I went to control center, regional settings and accessibility, keyboard actions/shortcuts (rough translation, I use localized version). I added new action, set its type as keyboard shortcut - keyboard input, then defined shortcut as alt-b (alt-ctrl-b for the second try), then in last tab I entered my text, which I wanted to be sent to an application. How did you do that? It's not just plain text, it's a key sequence you have to enter there. For example to send string Hello into application you have to put string Shift+H:E:L:L:O into this textbox. -- Hasso Tepper KDE Estonian Team

Tim Ruehsen wrote: Hi, I just updated to KDE 3.5 / KMail 1.9.1. When selecting 'save attachments' on a mail with 2 or more attachments, a directory selector/requester pop's up. It asks me for a directory to save the files into. BUT: * I can't access my bookmarked directories. This makes the process of selecting a directory much slower. * I can't see any files in the selected directory. This cuts me off from: - a quick view into the directory (my decision to create a new directory might be based on the contents). - removing/renaming single files before I press OK (for saving). Since I use this feature up to several times a day, this loss of productivity really annoys me. Is there a switch to enforce getting a file selector? Is this a byproduct of the seemingly-more-accurate Mozilla engine? Fonts are clearer, cleaner, and printed levelly in Galeon while in Konqueror text can be badly rendered and seem like a sample of messy block printing. In Konqueror any text, especially titles, is often rendered so that the text is fuzzy and each letter is at a different height on the line. Such uneven lettering is most unattractive. This problem was a problem to happen with a patch of Japan KDE Users' Group (koffice-2.0-kspread-i18n-20001026.diff). It was a cause that the 487th line of kspread_cell.cc was transferred to const char *p=m_strText.utf8(); from const char *p=m_strText.latin1(); with this patch. This problem happens so that this patch is applied in a Debian package. --- -- Hasso Tepper KDE Estonian Team
