Works good so far, takes a bit to load all the MP3s into local db, and
even longer to get all the covers from the internet, but afterwards its
quite fast and plays music as expected. No slowness in local collection
view, adding mp3s to playlist and so on.
Not yet fully tested with playlist management, though.

One malus: the area in strawb to play/pause/stop/next track music is
fixed in size and position, which looks not so nice on 4k screens, for
me a bit to small and not able to mave that part around.

Ok, I did built amarok git 22.08.2019 on debian buster.
It starts, it shows my collection, it shows my playlist and it plays
music as expected.
So far job done (as a start).

(no wiki, no lyrics, but hey, it plays music).

One note: it runs only from the directory it was built within.
Even after a make install (which ruins the instlled debian package,
although I did issue a -DDBUS_INTERFACES_INSTALL_DIR=/home/user option)
it runs only from withing the build/bin directory.

If I run from a different directory, I get a:
amarok: symbol lookup error: amarok: undefined symbol:
_ZN3App17activateRequestedERK11QStringListRK7QString

(I did installed a lot of dev packages for QT, and cmake call do shows
lots of warnings, but make did run through).

One point though:
after build is done, you can run amarok from the build/bin directory,
but it shows no start/stop icon, no text in playlist.
Only after the make install it shows them.
But the make install did ruin the debian package installation (did copy
over, to bad), no way back for me^^

I will test more now.

A about amarok shows:

Amarok
Version 2.9.70
Using KDE Frameworks 5.54.0

Thats what I hope, to.

Currently I got the URL to this PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~joe-yasi/+archive/ubuntu/amarok-kde5

But thats Ubuntu and not Debian.
And it does not work in Debian:

amarok : Depends: amarok-utils (=
2:2.9.80+p19.04+git20190819.0015-0+yasi1~19.04) but 2.9.0-1+b1 is to be
installed
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.29) but 2.28-10 is to be installed
  Depends: libkf5kiowidgets5 (>= 5.59.0) but 5.54.1-1 is to be
installed
  Depends: libqt5core5a (>= 5.12.2) but 5.11.3+dfsg1-1 is to be
installed
Depends: qtdeclarative-abi-5-12-2 but it is not installable

libc6 and libqt5core5a are in experimental,
qtdeclarative-abi-5-12-2 is not available, but libqt5qml5 is.
libkf5kiowidgets5 has no newer version yet.

So not possible so far to test :-/

Debian Buster, KDE, Amarok and zombies of ThreadWeaver::T

Problem with copy files 9 GB into OpenAFS

2013-03-22 Thread Lars Schimmer
Hi!

We try to use debian wheezy with KDE 4.8.4 and OpenAFS 1.6.2.
Currently OpenAFS reports on fs base on a du -h :

AFS 8,6G 0
8,6G0% /afs

as it is a special network filesystem with quota based on each directory
level.
Which includes: every directory has a different df value and even if
/afs/cgv.utgraz.at/test has only 1 MB free, /afs/cgv.utgraz.at/test/new/
could have 200 GB free.

Now if I try to copy a file 9GB (to be more exact: over the df reported
by OpenAFS for /afs/) into a subdirectoy with enough quota, KDE copy
breaks with a disk full error, although enough space is available.

KDE on squeeze did not have had this error/problem.

Which package do we need to report a rc bug against?
Thank you.

Sometimes I have a similar problem, that is solved by killing and

The problem does appear if the icons are animated. It also happens on
other desktop animations/effects. E.g. if one icon gets added to the

Restart of KDE4 is not solving the issue, until I restart XOrg.
But I do not want to restart X every day/week, I want the system to

Have you checked Xorg log files for issues?

Hm, just see:

24: /usr/bin/X (0x40+0x257e9) [0x4257e9]

4 times on the NVidia system.
Nothing special on amd/radeon machine.

Ok, some more information:
XOrg does use 4GB memory. After restarting X subsystem, Xorg does only
use 200-300 MB memory and the slowness is gone - until XOrg somehow
does want more memory.

Any idea whats missing?

Benq 800A, DVD-r Ultron k3b 0.11.6-1 Problem

Hiho!
I've got the Benq DVD writer 800A (i think it is), it should write dvd+r

Writing dvd+r works after some tricks (k3b thinks it's a cdr with ~300
MB, so not a DVD+r), but I can't write the DVD-R, because k3b think it
is not a medium at all.
Any hints?

Is this right now known to you or a new behaviour?

0) apt-get install cdrecord

2) add the user to the cdrom group
Done. Nothing happend to k3b and cdrecord. K3b still says can't find
cdrecord.
But it IS there and it is executeable as root.

OK, cdrecord is only a script. You have to exchange cdrecord with
cdrecord.mm under kernel 2.4+
