Should also note, that I did a aptitude dist-upgrade today and rebooted,
the bug persists. Maybe hasn't been fixed yet in 2.6.26 tree yet?

thanks

My box has been running with this patch applied for a while now, and I
cannot reproduce, so I'd say this fixes the issue for me.

No *-xen-686 images for the latest (2.6.26-7) Debian kernel packages

2008-10-05 Thread André Luís Lopes
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hello,

[ First of all, please CC: me on replies as I'm not subscribed to
debian-kernel@lists.debian.org ]

Sorry if it's already know or if I'm completely missing some basic
information on this topic, but it seems that the following packages
weren't built from the latest linux-2.6 (2.6.26-7) source package :

linux-image-2.6.26-1-xen-686
linux-modules-2.6.26-1-xen-686
linux-headers-2.6.26-1-xen-686
xen-linux-system-2.6.26-1-xen-686

In fact, their *-amd64 counterparts are all available on [0] and when
checking i386's linux-2.6_2.6.26-7 build logs at [1] one could see the
following snippet, which maybe could be related to this problem :

dpkg-genchanges: warning: package linux-image-2.6.26-1-xen-686 in
control file but not in files list
dpkg-genchanges: warning: package linux-modules-2.6.26-1-xen-686 in
control file but not in files list
dpkg-genchanges: warning: package linux-headers-2.6.26-1-xen-686 in
control file but not in files list
dpkg-genchanges: warning: package xen-linux-system-2.6.26-1-xen-686 in
control file but not in files list

Is this a real bug/problem or is there a way I could find 2.6.26-7
versions of the *-xen-686 packages somewhere else ?

You did not provide the slightest amount of information. I have two
machines with such devices and no problems. So it most likely is
something in your config.

Bug#501150: USB ethernet adapter 3com 3c19250 - kaweth

2008-10-05 Thread Hugh Sheehy

Package: kaweth usb ethernet driver

Version: all

I tried to install several linux distributions on some old laptops
(Toshiba Satellite 4070s). I tried to use an old 3Com 3c19250 USB
ethernet adapter for connectivity.

In all cases the USB driver is only occasionally recognized, works
intermittently then not at all, sometimes seems to cause lockup of the
system. The distributions included multiple debian based distribs,
including a debian minimal install.

On several occasions I could download for a while, then downloads would
simply stop, sometimes I would see screens of errors, but in all cases
the only error I can see for long enough to write down is

drivers/usb/net/kaweth.c: Failed to set Rx mode: -16

In general the error appears as downloads stalling, stopping, etc.

The bug has been reported on the kaweth page on sourceforge as long ago
as 2003. I used this very same USB adapter on Linux with no problem as
long ago as 1999.

Regards

Hugh Sheehy
