Bug#566309: linux-image-2.6.30-2-686: aes.ko depends on device specific padlock-aes.ko

Hi Ben,

Could somebody make the small change and fix this issue?

I hope to get this fixed for the upcoming release.

Bug#579755: linux-2.6: Please enable CONFIG_CGROUP_DEBUG

2010-05-24 Thread Hideki Yamane
Hi kernel team,

 CONFIG_CGROUP_DEBUG is needed for systemd, another replacement of sysvinit.
 It seems to be very interesting and useful (also aggressive :) one. For more
 detail, see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=580814

 systemd author says this option would not cause noticeable performance impact.
 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=580814#40
 But if enabling this option would cause any harm, please let me know. And if
 not, please consider to enable it.

 Thanks for your reading.

The last available information stats, that it _misuses_ this interface
to get some grouping of processes. As all cgroup instances (including
the debug group) are singletons, this is not aceptable.

Bug#550534: firmware-iwlwifi: possible workaround

2010-05-24 Thread Friedrich Delgado
Package: firmware-iwlwifi
Version: 0.24
Severity: normal

Hiho!

I've read several bug reports about this and it seems always related
to 11N in some way, so I tried loading the iwlagn module via

modprobe iwlagn 11n_disable50=1

And found that this helps. (On a Lenovo Thinkpad W500 with a 5300AGN
REV=0x24) Of course not being able to use draft 11 is somewhat
unsatisfactory, but at least I get a stable connection this way.

I currently put the following lines

,[ /etc/modprobe.d/iwlagn-bug ]
  # workaround for http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=550534
  options iwlagn 11n_disable50=1
`

into /etc/modprobe.d/iwlagn-bug since it doesn't look like this will
go away soon.

I know that workarounds like this have a tendency to work only for
some people, but maybe this will help others.

Downgrading to the previous firmware was *not* a reliable workaround
for me.

 statd: Support IPv6 in sm_mon_1_svc()

This appears to have removed support for IPv4 literals. Was this
intentional?

statd usually requires a DNS reverse mapping for any host it monitors.
Does your DNS have a reverse mapping for 192.168.120.254?

It looks like the new logic is more restrictive than the old statd when
mon_name is a presentation address. The old code simply allowed
presentation addresses with no reverse mapping. The new code requires a
reverse DNS mapping for presentation addresses. I think even an entry
in /etc/hosts would allow a raw address to work in this case.

We can probably remove the reverse mapping constraint for presentation
addresses. A simple fix might be to change statd_canonical_name() from:

freeaddrinfo(ai);
if (!result)
return NULL;

to

freeaddrinfo(ai);
if (!result)
return strdup(hostname);

Let me know if this works.

Bug#582637: [linux-2.6] Please enable CONFIG_VGA_SWITCHEROO

  I just tried it on my Thinkpad T400, and after loading the right modules

  advertised. No problem with X. I also second the request to enable this

 did you check with intel xorg driver from unstable/testing?
 please provide version?

It’s all from unstable:

 The last available information stats, that it _misuses_ this interface
 to get some grouping of processes. As all cgroup instances (including
 the debug group) are singletons, this is not aceptable.

 Thanks for your reply. Okay, however, CONFIG_CGROUP_DEBUG seems to be not
 needed anymore. Let's close it now :)

Bug#582975: drm/i915: Hangcheck timer elapsed... GPU hung

2010-05-24 Thread Edward Allcutt
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.32-13
Severity: important

X session appears to hang. Switching to VT still works fine. Switching
back to X shows same screen contents from VT. X cursor is drawn and
changes depending on window with focus (eg. text cursor over rxvt).

Am able to switch between virtual desktops and close apps and WM
(awesome) via keyboard shortcuts (deduced by mouse cursor changing
and by ps output on VT).

KMS is enabled. lspci output below:

Not surprising... the driver is doing stupid things in procfs.
Stay away from this hardware.
