Bug#600959: boot warnings too fast to read and not saved in any file nor dmesg
BH == Ben Hutchings b...@decadent.org.uk writes: BH This looks the same as #561764, reported by... you. I see. Anyways here's a little discovery I made. If it is not technologically possible to put such messages in files like dmesg, then at least they could be left on the screen: On one of my computers, the desktop with the detached terminal, the messages are still visible with ShiftPgUp. (In contrast to the laptops, where the farthest as ShiftPgUp reaches is the swap message. I.e., the first few items from /sbin/init to before /etc/rcS.d/S08checkroot.sh are not in any logs nor left on the console still.) Using a pencil from the desktop, I see they were roughly: INIT: version 2.88 starting Using Makefile ... runlevels Starting hotplug... Synthesizing hotplug... Waiting for /dev ... fully pop... And then the swap message, which is the first to be left on the top of other consoles too. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-kernel-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#598323: linux-image-2.6.35.6: Servers reboot on heavy load on DRBD+OCFS2 partition
Hello! Sorry for such big delay - I was ill and then on vacation. I you still have an interest in this problem - I have new results. OCFS2-1.4.4-3(from testing) - it is a userspace utility like mkfs.ocfs2. Of course I use driver from kernel. While update(aptitude safe-upgrade) first node I get kernel panic. Screenshot in attachment. [...] This panic shows Tainted: G D which means there was a previous oops message. You need to record the first one. Well I not got it twice. I can confirm what on configuration above(all testing + kernel 2.6.36-rc5) I don`t got a reboot. iozone complete successfully without any problems so yes - it is a kernel relaited problem. I retest it on latest 2.6.32 from testing - and got reboot. Re: Bug#577747: linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64 - same bug, different HW
Le Thu, 21 Oct 2010 17:26:52 +0200, Jan Schermer zvira...@zviratko.net a écrit : Update: It's not in SSH/crypto but a network problem I tried netcat over network and the file also got corrupted (5x OK, 1x corrupt, 1GB file - former swap file, so half random data and half zeroes). There are ~10 bytes corrupted in the middle of the file, very close together (on one page in vbindiff) - so probably one packet/fragment/frame. I also have tcpdump record of the whole connection - but nothing apparently fishy there. Right now I'm testing without netfilter enabled and so far so good (also had to reboot so it might have fixed itself). Memtest done without a problem via memtester on 75% of memory, proper memtest86 will be done tonight. Any suggestions where to go next? I'm thinking of making a 1GB plaintext file so that the corruption will be readable and searchable in a data stream and I can inspect the corrupted packets - but what to look for? Hello Jan, I'm observing this bug every day I resume my pc from hibernation, then running some big network transfer ; I notice that because, using SSH as network transport, it detects any data corruption. Once the SSH transfert failed, the subsequent ones works … until next hibernation / resume cycle ! I'm not sure whether it appears on a normal boot. Bug#597658: Wouldn't it be better solved the /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf?
Wouldn't it be better, to put the module in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf, instead of disabling it completely? So those who are able to use it, can still load it and do not have to build their own kernel. This module lowers the CPU usage of kcryptd from 90% to 25% on my machine, when writing to disk. Agreed, it causes no problems, but it seems like it was intended to be the dmi init, i.e. for (i = 0, dmi = dev-mc_list; ... I suppose it doesn't really matter but either removing the dmi in the for loop or moving the dmi init in there would make more sense to me. I really should learn to explain myself fully.
