Bug#662766: update-initramfs: does not find modules xhci ext4dev zfcp dasd_* on 3.2.0-1-amd64

2012-03-06 Thread mazkagaz
Package: initramfs-tools
Version: 0.100
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I did a system update/upgrade and noticed a problem while updating the initrd.

So i tried to reproduce the problem by calling : update-initramfs -u

That is what i got :
~# update-initramfs -u
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-3.2.0-1-amd64
FATAL: Module xhci not found.
FATAL: Module ext4dev not found.
FATAL: Module zfcp not found.
FATAL: Module dasd_diag_mod not found.
FATAL: Module dasd_eckd_mod not found.
FATAL: Module dasd_fba_mod not found.
WARNING: could not open
/var/tmp/mkinitramfs_QGQyan/lib/modules/3.2.0-1-amd64/modules.builtin: No such
file or directory

I did not reboot my computer yet, since i'm not sure it is safe.

While reading the next lines of this report, i notice the -- initramfs sizes
info does not show the good one. A ls -lh /boot/init*3.2* gives me this
output :
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 11M mars 6 10:14 /boot/initrd.img-3.2.0-1-amd64

Regards,

Mazkagaz

Package: initramfs-tools
Version: 0.100
Severity: normal

Hi.

Since today's updates I get this:
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-3.2.0-1-amd64
W: mdadm: /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf defines no arrays.
W: mdadm: no arrays defined in configuration file.
WARNING: could not open
/var/tmp/mkinitramfs_lbieCP/lib/modules/3.2.0-1-amd64/modules.builtin: No such
file or directory

But the only potentially related packages would be:
linux-libc-dev (doubt that)
ntfs-3g

Any ideas?

Chris.

Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I did a system update/upgrade and noticed a problem while updating the initrd.

So i tried to reproduce the problem by calling : update-initramfs -u

That is what i got :
~# update-initramfs -u
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-3.2.0-1-amd64
FATAL: Module xhci not found.
FATAL: Module ext4dev not found.
FATAL: Module zfcp not found.
FATAL: Module dasd_diag_mod not found.
FATAL: Module dasd_eckd_mod not found.
FATAL: Module dasd_fba_mod not found.
WARNING: could not open
/var/tmp/mkinitramfs_QGQyan/lib/modules/3.2.0-1-amd64/modules.builtin: No such
file or directory

I did not reboot my computer yet, since i'm not sure it is safe.

While reading the next lines of this report, i notice the -- initramfs sizes
info does not show the good one. A ls -lh /boot/init*3.2* gives me this
output :
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 11M mars 6 10:14 /boot/initrd.img-3.2.0-1-amd64

Note that this is duplicate so merge!

The initrd's built are not bootable.
I get very early:

Get to further.

Bug#608118: AW: OCFS2 filesystem fails with Kernel Stacktraces

2012-03-06 Thread Nehmer Torben
Hi Jonathan,

Before investigating this further: can you still reproduce this? What
kernel are you using these days? Is it reproducible without the
 vmware modules?

Sorry for the late answer, it has been rather busy these days here.
Unfortunalety, I don't have the testing environment available anymore as our
requirements here changed in the meantime and we are happy with a pure
active/passive solution (using ext4 instead of a ClusterFS).

Unfortunately, I cannot say if I again have the time available to give it a
test run. If I'm the only one experiencing this, I'd say leave it as it is. If
I ever need OCFS on Debian in the future, I'll have to build a new testbed
anyway.

Best regards,
Torben Nehmer

Well, bug 659866 might be fixed, but not the one reported here.
Let's recall the title: update-initramfs: does not find modules
xhci ext4dev zfcp dasd_* on 3.2.0-1-amd64 (bug 659866 also
mentions module that are not found, but these are not the same
ones... However both problems may be related).

I still get the FATAL: Module ... not found. errors:

Only the ext4dev one has disappeared.

the following FATAL errors should *possibly* be simply warnings; there

kmod NMU / m-i-t installability

2012-03-06 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Hello,

as discussed on IRC, I've just uploaded an NMU for kmod, working around
the linking issues on ia64[1] so that module-init-tools stops being
uninstallable (following Ben's request).

 1.
https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=kmodarch=ia64ver=6-1stamp=1331017246

You'll find attached the source debdiff.

As you can see from the excuses page[2], the high urgency is ignored
since the package isn't in testing yet. Feel free to contact
debian-release@ (Cc'd) if that needs adjustment.

Mraw,
KiBi.

Bug#662902: Please include the sbs-battery driver (CONFIG_BATTERY_SBS=m)

2012-03-06 Thread Josh Triplett
Package: linux-image-3.3.0-rc6-amd64
Severity: wishlist

Please consider including the sbs-battery driver, CONFIG_BATTERY_SBS=m.
This driver supports i2c-attached Smart Battery System
batteries. I have an Atom board with such a battery. (Such batteries
can exist on both 32-bit and 64-bit x86.)

The message still occurs in 3.2 kernels (including the Debian 3.2.7-1
kernel), but Linus removed it directly after the Linux 3.2 release in
commit 07d106d0a3 (vfs: fix up ENOIOCTLCMD error handling).

Marking the problem as fixed in the experimental version accordingly.
