2013-08-25 Thread Jim Fenton
I'm seeing what appears to be the same bug as 719668 while running
Debian squeeze. Stack trace is below.

Uploading linux (3.2.50-1) to wheezy

2013-08-25 Thread Ben Hutchings
In preparation for the next stable update, I want to upload a new kernel
with bug fixes from the 3.2.y stable branch (and a few others we've
collected in Debian).

There are probably some pending security fixes that should be included
in this and maybe a prior security update.

Unfortunately I haven't found the time to work on new hardware support
for this update.

Please let me know if there are any other fixes that should go into this
update, in particular for any regressions between 3.2.46 and 3.2.50.

Ben.

Bug#719623: linux-image-3.10-2-amd64: kernel panic on inserting DVB-T stick

2013-08-25 Thread Johannes Rohr

Am 14.08.2013 10:34, schrieb Bjørn Mork:

I took a quick look at the code and wonder if the problem is caused by
an initial zero statistics message? This is all just a wild guess, but
if it is correct, then the attached untested patch might fix it...

I have just tested the patch against Debian's kernel sources linux-3.11~rc4

On first try, the kernel panic does not seem to occur with this kernel.
So possible you solved it!

Thanks,

Johannes

Bug#720743: [firmware-brcm80211] doesn't crash stock unstable 3.10 kernel

2013-08-25 Thread Valerio Passini
Package: firmware-brcm80211
Version: 0.40

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

The crash doesn't happen with the 3.10 kernel in Sid/Unstable but there are
two important differences with my custom 3.10.0 kernel:

1) the version in Debian is actually 3.10.7 (should check if there is any
change in net/wireless/brcm80211)

2) differences in driver's options. In my system the notification LED is
enabled
through GPIO.
i.e.: BCMA_DRIVER_GPIO Y

The fact that this version of the firmware is not compatible with my older
kernel stll holds.

Bug#720735: initramfs-tools: mkinitramfs uses ldd, which is insecure and generates core dumps

OK (both the French and English versions of the Wikipedia article
didn't mention these directories... I've updated them now).

I still think that ldd should be avoided, though.

No, this has a defined meaning in FHS:
