I doubt it, that's about deciding whether licences are DFSG-free and I
think we already know none of these are.

Why? I don't think any of the firmware with unclear status is
distributed by Debian.

Hi Paul,

The Canonical kernel team follows the stable upstream acceptance
rules¹, thus backporting this new driver² would have to be carry by
the Debian kernel maintainers.

By the way, I think severity 'wishlist' would have been more
appropriate.

Thanks,

Bug#780865: linux-headers-amd64: openafs-modules-dkms no longer builds

2015-03-20 Thread cwseys
Package: linux-headers-amd64
Version: 3.2+46
Severity: normal

Hello,
 openafs-modules-dkms no longer builds with
linux-headers-3.2.0-4-[amd64,common] version 3.2.65-1+deb7u2.
Reverting to version 3.2.65-1 allows the build to complete.
Online [1] I read that reverting to version 3.2.65-1+deb7u1 also allows build
to succeed.

Thanks!
C.

Bug#780862: linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64: please backport 2015 ThinkPad Trackpoint/Touchpad support patches

2015-03-20 Thread Yves-Alexis Perez
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.16.7-ckt7-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

as already reported on IRC, the trackpoint/touchpad in 2015 ThinkPads
(X250 for example) is not really supported right now.

A patchset was merged into Linus tree this morning
(b314acaccd7e0d55314d96be4a33b5f50d0b3344), it'd be nice to have it
included in the Debian kernel if/when possible.

I'm currently running the 4.0-rc4+ kernel including the patch and it
mostly seem to work fine.

Feel free to ping me if anything else is needed.

Regards,

Bug#780858: Massive I/O data corruption on Marvell Armada XP machines

2015-03-20 Thread Steve McIntyre
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.16.7-ckt7-1
Severity: grave
Tags: upstream

Hi folks,

We've upgraded a couple of our Marvell Armada XP based (armel/armhf)
buildd machines to Jessie, and they've almost immediately fallen over
with symptoms of really bad data corruption. On further investigation
and discussion with some of the upstream maintainers for this
hardware, this is a known issue with I/O coherency and there are
patches available for testing:

 * 8f1e8ee28660018a935c7576b9af8ffe1feab54c is a patch to disable
   coherency for now, and
 * http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/linux-arm-kernel/2015-March/330104.html
is a second patch needed too (do not register custom DMA operations
   when coherency is disabled)

I'm just doing a local build right now with these patches applied so I
can test. More news ASAP.

Bug#780848: Regression : HP Zbook 15 fails to shutdown and suspend

2015-03-20 Thread Florian Gillot
Source: linux
Version: 3.2.65-1+deb7u2
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Dear maintainer,

I have problems with HP Zbook 15 (1st gen) laptops since the 3.2.65-1 kernel
update in Debian Wheezy :
- Poweroff doesn't work, it just reboots.
- Suspend to ram doesn't work.

I have found the incriminated commit :
https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git/commit/?id=b45abacde3d551c6696c6738bef4a1805d0bf27a

With a patch to revert this commit on the 3.2.65-1+deb7u2 kernel, everything
works perfectly.
