This is now up to 4.9.106 and there will definitely be an ABI break. I missed the thread start (I'm not subscribed to -release anymore), but in the quoted text I can see there were three proposed dates for the 9.5 point release. May 26th and June 2nd are out of the equation now but is June 9th already targeted? If so, we really need to move forward on this (and it might be a bit late already) if we want to make sure it builds everywhere. Bug#900871: Missing last i915 firmware versions. Package need update for kernel 4.16.0.1 and 4.16.0.2.
Package: firmware-misc-nonfree Version: 20170823-1 The binary firmware skl_dmc_ver1_27.bin for Intel "Skylake" DMC firmware, version 1.27, is missing. The kernels 4.16.0.1 and 4.16.0.2 require them. I get a sort of failed loading error when booting like : *"*ERROR* failed to load firmware skl_dmlc_ver1_27.bin"* I have tried to fix the issue by download from : https://github.com/wkennington/linux-firmware/tree/master/i915 Then I drop the file in /lib/firmware/i915 and reboot. The previous error message has vanished but a newer is appeared like : *"[drm:csr_load_work_fn] *ERROR* Firmware has wrong CSS header length"* Could you update the package ? Or what should I do about this binary firmware ? Best regards, Etienne MAHE
