Bug#949910: linux-image-4.19.0-6-amd64: bnx2x driver fails in DMAE, renders server unusable

2020-01-26 Thread Adam Thompson
Package: src:linux
Version: 4.19.67-2+deb10u2
Severity: critical
Tags: upstream
Justification: breaks the whole system

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
Upgraded Debian from 9 to 10.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
Have tried various module options, also have tried not using bonding.

   * What was the outcome of this action?
Driver soft-lockup, causing overall system instability and unusability.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?
Driver should work with existing harware.

Actual failure looks like this in dmesg:

except that there are thousands of bnx2x error messages. Those interfaces
cannot pass traffic. The interrupt storm or dmesg flood or something also
renders the system unusable even through unaffected interfaces.
These interfaces worked fine in Debian 9 mid-way through its lifecycle, but the
current packages failed. I opted to try upgrading to 10, but this still fails
in Debian 10. (I don't know the version of the last unaffected kernel, sorry -
we were way behind by accident, and jumped a year+ in kernel versions.)
I've found multiple issues around the 'net relating to this, all noting
essentially the same behaviour.
A regular "reboot" is inadequate to reboot (within 24hrs, anyway), I have to
issue a "reboot -f".

Bug#939781: Please include Navi10 firmware files

2020-01-26 Thread Patrick Ammann

I have made a patch, which adds navi10 and navi14. It also updates
raven, raven2 and picasso. Please integrate this and generate an
up-to-date firmware-amd-graphics package some time soon.

Thanks,
Patrick

Bug#939875: Suspend fails. Machine shuts down after approx 30 seconds

Bug#939170: linux: does not suspend completely, locks up

2020-01-26 Thread Felix Rublack
Hi everyone,

I have the same issue on a ThinkPad T460s (suspend works only half way,
reboot and poweroff stop just short before actual shutdown).

I bisected the problem to the TPM driver. Blacklisting the module in
modprobe.d fixed the problem for me.

Sample configuration: /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-tpm.conf

# Prevent TPM from loading. It breaks suspend and power cycle.
blacklist tpm
blacklist tpm_crb
blacklist tpm_tis
blacklist tpm_tis_core

Greetings
Felix Rublack

Bug#949886: linux: Cherry Trail power management regressions

2020-01-26 Thread Jeremy Stanley
Package: linux
Version: 5.5~rc7-1~exp1
Severity: wishlist

CONFIG_INTEL_CHT_INT33FE (already enabled) began requiring
CONFIG_USB_ROLES_INTEL_XHCI and CONFIG_TYPEC_MUX_PI3USB30532 as of
kernel version 4.17.

CONFIG_INTEL_SOC_PMIC_CHTWC (already enabled) started to require
CONFIG_I2C_DESIGNWARE_PLATFORM compiled in rather than a module as
of 5.1.

Also in 5.1, some Cherry Trail systems like the GPD Pocket UMPC and
GPD Win portable began to need CONFIG_PMIC_OPREGION enabled for LCD
power initialization when external monitors are connected.

Bug#949863: linux: wishlist

2020-01-26 Thread Tzafrir Cohen
Source: linux
Version: Please enable switchdev support
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

When testing our networking-related hardware on various platforms, One
feature that we miss in the Debian kernel is switchdev support: This
is useful for us for switchdev hardware offloading with our hardware.

Could ypu please set:

  CONFIG_NET_SWITCHDEV=y
