Bug#954882: linux-image-5.4.0-4-amd64: [i915] Screen flickering when connecting external monitor to laptop

2020-03-24 Thread Miguel Bernabeu
Package: src:linux
Version: 5.4.19-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I have recently started to use an external monitor for this laptop and
the issue has surfaced. I have upgraded the system to the latest
release without fixing the issue. I'm unsure if previous versions of
these packages avoided the issue or not.

Some research pointed the error messages present in the dmesg output
have already been related to a kernel bug in the past:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101868

[ 1812.607941] [drm:intel_cpu_fifo_underrun_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* CPU
pipe A FIFO underrun

This laptop is a custom build.

   * What led up to the situation?

Plugging in an external monitor via HDMI.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Rebooting with screen attached does not solve the problem.
Booting without external screen solves the issue.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Intermittent flickering. When the screen is updated frequently
(as when typing) the problem almost disappears. If the screen is
almost idle, the flickering happens several times per second.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

 No flickering on the screen

Bug#941450: linux-image-4.19.0-6-amd64: e1000e driver periodically resets card

2020-03-24 Thread debian
I'm expiring the same issue here. I use a dedicated network interface as
bridge for VMs. When the interface became unreliable I disabled TCP
offloading as shown below. This worked for a while but now the problem
is even worse. I have to reboot the host to bring the network interface
back. Restarting the network interface itself does not help.

Kernel:
4.19.0-8-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.19.98-1 (2020-01-26) x86_64 GNU/Linux

/etc/network/interfaces:

# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

# The primary network interface
auto enp4s0
iface enp4s0 inet dhcp
iface enp4s0 inet6 dhcp

# The seccondary network interface
iface enp0s31f6 inet manual
offload-tso off
offload-gso off

# The bridge setup
auto br0
iface br0 inet dhcp
bridge_ports enp0s31f6

VMs are created with libvirt:

  /usr/bin/kvm

Bug#954778: Patch: Suppress irrelevant warning when generating a debian package

2020-03-24 Thread Reinhard Karcher
Creating a Debian package by compiling the kernel using make bindeb-pkg
without creating debug information creates a warning that no
debug package was created.
This patch excludes the debug package from the control file,
if no debug package is created by this configuration.

By making a contribution to this project, I certify that:
The contribution was created in whole or in part by me and I have the right to
submit it under the open source license indicated in the file.
Signed-off-by: Reinhard Karcher
---
The condition to include the debug package is copied from the file
builddeb in the same directory.
