I've added the hint, but are these regressions in cryptsetup and
libguestfs tracked somewhere? As a bare minimum I've CC'd their
maintainers in this message so that they are aware, and I've added our
i386 porter explicitly too.

Bug#1023563: linux-image-5.10.0-19-amd64: Ephemeral ports are reused too quickly, even when net.ipv4.tcp_tw_reuse = 0

2023-01-28 Thread Markus Wernig

Dear maintainer

I just installed linux-image-5.10.0-21-amd64 (5.10.162-1) and tested again.

The problem still exists.

The bug can be reproduced by constantly keeping the connection rate
between the webserver and backend at around 15/sec. After some time
(around 5 hours in my last test) the frontend starts reusing ephemeral
ports even though it is configured not to.

Best

Markus

Bug#993612: [PATCH v2] of/address: Return an error when no valid dma-ranges are found

2023-01-28 Thread Mark Brown
Commit 7a8b64d17e35 ("of/address: use range parser for of_dma_get_range")
converted the parsing of dma-range properties to use code shared with the
PCI range parser. The intent was to introduce no functional changes however
in the case where we fail to translate the first resource instead of
returning -EINVAL the new code we return 0. Restore the previous behaviour
by returning an error if we find no valid ranges, the original code only
handled the first range but subsequently support for parsing all supplied
ranges was added.

This avoids confusing code using the parsed ranges which doesn't expect to
successfully parse ranges but have only a list terminator returned, this
fixes breakage with so far as I can tell all DMA for on SoC devices on the
Socionext Synquacer platform which has a firmware supplied DT. A bisect
identified the original conversion as triggering the issues there.

Uploading linux (6.1.8-1)

2023-01-28 Thread Salvatore Bonaccorso
Hi

I would like to upload linux version 6.1.8-1 to unstable.

[On a related note, if you, release team can unblock an let 6.1.7-1
still migrate to testing earlier that that, that would be welcome so
we have several important fixes in already for testing. Though there
is a regressions for i386. Help from people interested in i386 would
be very welcome.]

It consists of importing new 6.1.8 stable version. With that import
#1029816 get resolved.

An ABI bump is included.

Other changes on top in the packaging consist of:

  * d/t/main.control.in: Add Depends on python3-jinja2 for linux-support
packages
  * gpiolib-acpi: Don't set GPIOs for wakeup in S3 mode (Closes: #1029046)
  * drm/amdgpu/display/mst: Fix mst_state->pbn_div and slot count assignments
(Closes: #1028451)
  * drm/amdgpu/display/mst: limit payload to be updated one by one
(Closes: #1028451)
  * drm/amdgpu/display/mst: update mst_mgr relevant variable when long HPD
(Closes: #1028451)
  * drm/display/dp_mst: Correct the kref of port. (Closes: #1028451)
  * Bump ABI to 3
  * d/rules.real: Remove executable bit from dtb files (Closes: #1028601)
  * Add patch to fix missing symbol versions for str{,n}{cat,cpy}
on alpha. Fixes FTBFS. (Closes: #1027974)
  * [amd64] drivers/platform/x86/intel/uncore-frequency: Enable
INTEL_UNCORE_FREQ_CONTROL as module (Intel Uncore frequency control)
(Closes: #1029484)
  * [amd64] arch/x86: Enable 5-level page tables support (X86_5LEVEL)

If you look around in hw-detect or debian-cd repositories, you'll see that
I'm working on main & non-free & main-non-free-firmware, soon to become
main & non-free-firmware (once the move is complete). I don't have such
hardware to confirm what happens at runtime though.

Dear Maintainer,

Bluetooth is no longer usable with this chipset on this kernel version.
/sys/class/bluetooth is not present after booting or rebooting. There are no
lines relating to bluetooth in dmesg. Here is the relevant part of lsmod:
mt7921e32768  0
mt7921_common  94208  1 mt7921e
mt76_connac_lib73728  2 mt7921e,mt7921_common
mt76  106496  3 mt7921e,mt7921_common,mt76_connac_lib
mac80211 1159168  3 mt76,mt7921_common,mt76_connac_lib
cfg80211 1118208  4 mt76,mac80211,mt7921_common,mt76_connac_lib

WiFi *does* continue to work with this chipset. Only bluetooth seems to be
affected.

Matthew

The author of the patch acknowledged that the patch applies to kernel
version 5.10.y asking me to send it out to the stable mailing list. I
did it, but I did not receive an answer. I tried to peek upstream, but
again no answer.

I would recommend to mention the following things:

Commit ID in 5.15 = 3640cdccbe75b8922e5bfc0191dd37e3aaa24833

Link to post in which the patch author said they'd ACK it for 5.10:

It is already applied upstream and is part of upstream's 6.1.8 release:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git/commit/?
h=linux-6.1.y&id=a57c981d9f24d2bd89eaa76dc477e8ca252e22e8

Version 6.1.8 is already part of Debian kernel's git repo, but it hasn't been
released yet. So it's coming.

Bug#837385: ath9k-htc free firmware still an issue in free software distributions

2023-01-28 Thread Holger Wansing
Hi all,

now that there's massive work on making non-free firmware to work easily in
debian-installer and the distribution, would it be possible, to bring the
topic of ath9k-htc free firmware forward?

There are some longstanding bugreports for this (and related, some in CC); is
there any chance to get this finally fixed for bookworm?

Wouldn't it be a shame, if non-free firmware works flawlessly, while this
free firmware still stays an issue?

Regards
