Package: cifs-utils
Version: 2:7.0-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

* Pristine up2date Bookworm install (no GUI, only SSH, cifs-utils, rsyslog
installed)
* Mount smb/cifs share (/mnt/truenas)
* All works fine if I do same from Win-10 or Win-11 OS

* I have run below commands on clean Debian Bookworm install in bash shell:

sudo mount -t cifs //truenas.fritz.box/mount -o username=user /mnt/truenas
user@server:/mnt/truenas/temp$
sudo cp main.cf main.cf.1
Killed

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1332 Jul 28 17:25 main.cf
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 0 Jan 5 09:40 main.cf.1

resulting in a kernel NULL pointer derefernce

Shell hangs if I try to remove the empty file.

Hi,

In some cases, when I disable wifi with the network manager GUI
(ie: right click, "Enable Wifi" to disable it), my iwlwifi driver
crashes, with the crash dump attached to this bug report.

When this happen, then my network stack is kind of completely
broken, and I have to reboot.

Let me know what I can do to improve this bug report. Maybe
install the debug kernel?

Cheers,

Thomas Goirand (zigo)

Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When I try to switch off my Wi-Fi adaptor, it just blocks/hangs and
never goes down.

Trying to get info in cli also blocks:

$ env LANG=C nmcli
Warning: nmcli (1.44.2) and NetworkManager (Unknown) versions don't match.
Restarting NetworkManager is advised.
Error: NetworkManager is not running.

Even reboot/power-down hangs and the only way to recover is a hard-power
down.

I added at the end of this report some info from syslog (tail -f
/var/log/syslog) I ran at the moment I swithced off my Wi-Fi.

Last info, I tried with the previous kernel linux-image-6.5.0-4-amd64
(6.5.10-1) and it
works like a charm.

Regards,

Jean-Marc
