Bug#755822: Info received ([SOLVED] modifying snd-hda-intel parameters)

2015-05-28 Thread Antonio-M. Corbi Bellot

Hi again!

It seems that my solution was not complete, I also have to add the
parameter 'model=vaio' to the module options line, so the correct one
for me in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf is this:

options snd-hda-intel model=vaio position_fix=1

Once again, hope this helps someone in the same situation as me.

Bug#755822: [SOLVED] modifying snd-hda-intel parameters

2015-05-21 Thread Antonio-M. Corbi Bellot
Hi,

After submiting this bug back in july'14 and no receiving any answers I
decided to play with module snd-hda-intel parameters.

In my case it seems that:

options snd-hda-intel position_fix=1

written in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf does the trick.

Currently I'm running a 4.0.4 kernel, but as I've been experimenting
sound problems in this netbook with kernels as old as 3.8.x and up-to
4.0.4 I assume this trick is also valid for all of them.

Hope this helps someone in a situation similiar to this.

A. Corbi

Bug#707607: linux-image-3.8-1-686-pae: bad sound with vaio vgn-p19vn

2013-05-09 Thread Antonio-M. Corbi Bellot
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.8.11-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
   * What led up to the situation?

Installing and booting with kernel from linux-image-3.8-1-686-pae produces bad
sound, similar as the sound you hear when you press the fast-forward button in
a cd-player.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Booting with a kernel 3.8 makes the problem disappear.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Bad sound coming out of the speakers, no matter which application produces it.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Good sound.

Bug#700932: [more info] linux-image-3.7-trunk-amd64: VGA output not working if vga-cable connected on boot

2013-02-20 Thread Antonio-M. Corbi Bellot

Hi kernel list.

I'v been able to read some of the text lines the kernel outputs before
the screen turns black.

I can read something like: early console in decompress kernel... and
after that line appear three or more text lines (sorry I can't read
them) and then the (external) screen turns black.

As I told in my first message I see some sign that the hardware (video
card?) is trying to do something (small glitches) in the external
monitor.

I've also noticed that disk activity ceases...the disk light stops
lightning at this very moment.

2013-02-19 Thread Antonio-M. Corbi Bellot
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.7.8-1~experimental.1

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

After upgrading kernel 3.7.1 to 3.7.3 and 3.7.8 , boting this laptop
with an external monitor attached to the VGA output produces no output
in the external monitor. The screen remains black in the external
monitor, I occasionally see some flashing in it (like if the hardware
is trying to do something) but it inmediatelly turns black.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Booting the laptop without the VGA cable attached and attaching it
afterwards ended with a working external monitor attached to this
laptop.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

The VGA output works as expected.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

The one obtained

2013-01-27 Thread Antonio-M. Corbi Bellot
Hi Julien, Ben:

Standard kernel 3.2 in wheezy is unusuable for me in this laptop (ASUS
A55V, core i7 3rd gen.). The machine boots and works ok for a
while (minutes)...but suddenly it hard freezes. If I'm listening to
music...the music stays in a loop when it freezes.

Kernels 3.2 made this machine work OK...until 3.7.x from experimental.

I attach the lspci and lsusb of this machine.

I read yesterday in pdo the post from Ben Hutchings and decided to give
a try to kernel-3.2 prepared by Julien.

It seems this kernel has the right patches applied, at least for me.
The laptop is working OK for 3hours, and suspend and resume seem to
work.

I still detect a pair of minor glitches with this kernel:

1) The sd-card reader in the laptop is not detected, even kernel 3.7.x
can't detect it.

2) The function keys for screen brightness adjustment are not
detected...I checked that kernel 3.7.x could detect them and worked as
expected. I don't know if these bits could be backported.

So thanks to all the people working to make wheezy a great version!

Bug#656724: bug still present with kernel 3.2.2-1

2012-02-02 Thread Antonio-M. Corbi Bellot

I updated yesterday this faulty machine with latest
linux-image-3.2.0-1-amd64 (version 3.2.2-1) and I can confirm that this
bug is still present.

Is there a boot option I can try to get rid of this messages and what
is causing them?

TIA.

Bug#652869: linux-image-3.1.0-1-amd64: Laptop auto power-on after correct shutdown and being powered-off

2011-12-21 Thread Antonio-M. Corbi Bellot
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 3.1.5-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

After upgrading to linux-image-3.1.0-amd64 (3.1.5-1) the laptop I use
works as expected but after shutting it down and being correctly
powered-off it automatically powers-on after 5 or 6 minutes (this is
always the same time).

Booting this laptop with linux-image-3.0.0-2-amd64 (3.0.0-6) I can't reproduce
this problem, even with previous linux-image-3.1.0-amd64 (prior to 3.1.5-1) I
did not have this problem.

Bug#601885: linux-image-2.6.36-trunk-686: problem detecting usb external gadgets

2010-10-30 Thread Antonio-M. Corbi Bellot
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.36-1~experimental.1
Severity: important
Tags: upstream

This is a Sony netbook vgn-p19vn, up to -and included- linux-image-2.6.32 usb
external gadgets work as expected -external mouse, memory sticks, etc...- are
detected after plugin them. Since 2.6.33 and up to 2.6.36 (included) external
gadgets are not detected after plugin or unplugin them (there's no line in
/var/log/syslog indicating these kind of events).

On curious thing is that if I power on the machine with an external mouse
pluged, it is recognised and works, but if I unplug it and I plug it again
it doesn't work anymore.

Bug#435226: Acknowledgement (linux-image-2.6.22-1-powerpc nvidiaframe buffer and ams problems)

2007-08-07 Thread Antonio-M. Corbi Bellot
Hi:

I've narrowed a little bit the problem, let's see:

I usually work with an external monitor attached to the powerbook (see
my xorg.conf attached), well, the problems with the framebuffer I
described in this bug seem to happen _only_ when I've attached the
external monitor but _not_ when I use only the laptop internal one
(i.e. I detach the external one).

As I said, this does not happen with kernel = 2.6.21, I've only noticed
when I upgraded to 2.6.22, right now I'm using:

$ dpkg -s linux-image-2.6.22-1-powerpc

Bug#435226: linux-image-2.6.22-1-powerpc nvidia frame buffer and ams problems

2007-07-30 Thread Antonio-M. Corbi Bellot
Package: linux-image-2.6.22-1-powerpc
Version: 2.6.22-3
Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***
Since linux-image-2.6.22-1-powerpc_2.6.22-1_powerpc.deb was out
I decided to give it a try in my 12 powerbook.

I have tried versions 2.6.22-1, 2.6.22-2 and 2.6.22-3.

It all seems to work ok except for:

1) the framebuffer 'resolution' detection, I mean that in the booting process
I get taller letters (deformed, they are stretched, also happens the same
with the penguin logo) and the prompt is lost somewhere down under the screen.

I can solve this by blindly typing: fbset 1024x768-60, but this
didn't happen with kernels up to (and included) 2.6.21.

I have tried several possible combinations in yaboot.conf:

- append=video=nv:1024x768-60 ...
- append=video=rivafb:1024x768-60
...
without luck.

Being video=ofonly the only one that gives a 'correct' frame buffer,
but I lose the ability to dim the screen backlight.

2) it seems there's no ams (apple motion sensor) module built,
it would be nice to have it.

could you please report that bug upstream on bugzilla.kernel.org
against the fb subsys. it might be interesting which kernel was
 the last one working.
please feedback on the bugzilla bug nr.

I've compiled a vanilla 2.6.22.1 from kernel.org and the frame buffer
works ok, so I think it must be a config option in the Debian package. I
attach you my 2.6.22.1 config in case you want to see it. I've to tell
you that I've not checked it very well, but I remember I didn't managed
to make usb work...but the frame buffer problem isn't anymore with this
config.

yo indeed, checkout latest trunk for it see apt lines
 - http://wiki.debian.org/DebianKernel

I'll do it.

 thanks + regards

Thanks.

Bug#435226: log's incomplete

2007-07-30 Thread Antonio-M. Corbi Bellot
Benjamin Herrenschmidt [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

The log is incomplete... looks like the bcm43xx driver is so verbose, it
kicked useful things out. Thus I can't see the output from the video
driver which is the interesting bit...

Also, is it nvidiafb or rivafb ?

After sending the bug report I compiled myself a vanilla 2.6.22.1 from
kernel.org and the framebuffer is correctly detected and resolution set
(1024x768 for my powerbook-12). So it must be a problem with the debian
config (I think).
