Bug#748517: linux-image-3.14-1-686-pae: Must insert acpi=off on boot, otherwise Toshiba Laptop freezes (see #746312)

2014-05-17 Thread Daniel Wiese
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.14.4-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation? kernel upgrades after 3.12
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)? boot kernel 3.14.4-1
   * What was the outcome of this action? laptop gets unresponsive
   * What outcome did you expect instead? up to kernel 3.12, the problem didn't
exist

Bug#746312: Problem persists in Kernel 3.14

2014-05-02 Thread Daniel Wiese
Dear Maintainer,

I just installed linux-image-3.14-1-686-pae (version 3.14.2-1) from Unstable,
and unfortunately the problem still exists: my laptop, an old Toshiba Satellite
Pro 4220, slows down and becomes unresponsive, unless I insert acpi=off at
boot.

The last Kernel without this problem was linux-image-3.12-1-686-pae (version
3.12.9-1).

By the way, acpi=ht doesn't solve the problem, only acpi=off works.

Best regards, Daniel Wiese
