Bug#561098: [linux-2.6] Broken support on root Luks encrypted volume
Package: linux-2.6 Version:2.6.32~rc8-1~experimental.1 Severity: important Hello there. First of all, thanks for supplying this package that fast. I'm experimenting problems when trying to boot from a luks-encrypted root filesystem under 2.6.32-trunk-amd64. Unfortunately, I was not able to find wheter it's a problem located on the initramfs hooks or the kernel support, though I suspect that it's more related to the first one. As I was unable to find any related information neither on kernel's bugzilla nor any search engine, I filed this bug here. Therefore, I ask for apologies in case it's not a bug produced by the kernel itself and close it immediately with my apologies on them. Although I'm not sure it help in any way, I leave here the output of both identical setups, my thinkpad x61 and a regular desktop: [ 5.188756] hda: cache flushes supported [ 5.189188] hda: hda1 hda2 hda3 hda4 [ 5.205077] ide-cd: hdc: ATAPI 4X CD-ROM drive, 512kB Cache [ 5.205522] Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20 done. Bug#468151: Files missing for SND_CS46XX module
Package: linux-source-2.6.24 Version: 2.6.24-3 Severity: normal SND-CS46XX has been marked as BROKEN, which indeed is if missing the files shown below: [ ~/debian/linux-source-2.6.24/sound/pci/cs46xx ]$ find imgs/ imgs/ imgs/cwcdma.asp imgs/cwcsnoop.h imgs/cwcdma.h imgs/cwc4630.h imgs/cwcbinhack.h imgs/cwcasync.h It works perfectly ok after rebuilding. I attach them, but have been taken from an older (.23) linux-source. Thanks! First, Thanks a LOT to all who answered me, and so soon, I know you have just lot of work doing what you do now, and I really appreciate that, well, all Debian Users too:-D I did what you suggested me and now I've the 2cpus running... Thanks a LOT, and keep doing what your doing, which is percfectly good!!! Troubles running 686-smp kernels (both 2.6/2.4)
Hi all! I've a 2xPentium 166mhz cpu, and untill today I didn't realise to install a smp kernel to support it (it worked fine, but a bit slow), I've been running a 2.4.27-386 common one. But, when I tried to install the 2.4.27-2-686-smp, once I choose it from grub list, It just, reboots automatically (it shows the firsts usuals lines until saying Savedefault... Booting, when it reboots)... it happens exactly the same with a 2.6.8-2-686-smp one. I would be pleased not to compile the kernel by hand... :-\ Thanks in advance... (I past here some info, to help ) --- aptitude search kernel-image- |grep i i kernel-image-2.4.27-2-386 - Linux kernel image for version 2.4.27 on 3 i kernel-image-2.4.27-2-686-smp - Linux kernel image for version 2.4.27 on P i kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686-smp- Linux kernel image for version 2.6.8 on PP --- cat /proc/cpuinfo processor : 0 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 5 model : 2 model name : Pentium 75 - 200 stepping: 12 cpu MHz : 166.681 fdiv_bug: no hlt_bug : no f00f_bug: yes coma_bug: no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 1 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr mce cx8 apic bogomips: 332.59 --- ?=¬) Dererk -- [EMAIL PROTECTED]: ~$ cat /proc/version {Pipe} grep -i 'power in your hands' Debian GNUine Perception -Fortune Tip- Bank error in your favor. You can try and see if either 2.4.27-2-386 or 2.6.8-2-386 works for you as a first step. If those don't work, then its unlikely the smp-counterpart would work. Better to know that in advance before going through the rebuild effort. First of all, thanks for answering so soon :-) I already have it running under a Debian precompiled 2.4.27-2-386 kernel, and It doesn't crash or something like that, but, once I saw what showed /proc/cpu, I realise the 2 processor wasn't working, well, that's what I assumed, please correct me if I'm wrong, but, If I don't use either a SMP precompiled kern, or a homemade supporting smp, the 2 processors won't working at the same time, right? I've no pacience with kernel compiling stuff, thats why I'm trying not to do it at all... Only chance, to use a homemade one? Thanks again and have a nice day... --- I paste this again just to ask, Is that showing 2 CPUs support?
