Bug#915210: linux-image-4.9.0-8-amd64: kernel oops when plugging in pvr-usb2

2018-12-01 Thread Mark Small

Package: src:linux
Version: 4.9.130-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

Whenever I plug in my Hauppauge WinTV PVR-USB2, I get a kernel oops.

I've looked online, and apparently others have this problem as well.

It looks like a fix for a different problem was backported from 4.11,
but was

missing two additional patches.

Have a look here:

https://pvrusb2.isely.narkive.com/Aonnv0UP/kernel-oops-with-pvrusb2-and-wintv-hvr-1950

Which refers to a kernel bug report here:

https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=198675

Can you please apply the fixes mentioned in the above reports? I'm
happy to test any updated packages, but I haven't done any coding in
nearly 20 years so applying patches to kernel source is probably
well beyond me.

The kernel bug was reported for the ARM version, perhaps it needs to be
applied to the amd64 tree as well?

Thanks

Mark

Bug#879107: linux-image-4.13.0: Kernel panic on boot at sched_clock in virtualbox guest

2017-10-19 Thread Mark Small
Package: src:linux
Version: 4.13.4-2
Severity: important
File: linux-image-4.13.0

Dear Maintainer,

I'm running Debian 32 bit inside virtualbox. I recently updated from
stretch to buster. The kernel included in buster will not boot. I get
a null pointer derefernce and kernel panic at the point in the boot
process where it says: sched_clock: Marking Stable. I have a video
screen capture in webm format that I can upload if that would help. I
also have png screen captures taken from the video.

If I choose the 4.9 kernel from grub, it boots fine.
