Bug#387767: Installation Failure
Just for grins I replaced the Mitsumi model CRMC-FX240S CD drive with a Sony model CDU-701. I booted off the net-install CD and everything worked fine. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#387767: Installation Failure
As a follow-up to my last e-mail please note that the Mitsumi FX240S CD-ROM drive worked fine with Woody and Sarge. The problem was not with the drive but between that model of drive and Etch (2.6.x kernel). -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Re: Bug#387767: Installation Failure
The RC2 installer with the 2.6.18 kernel does NOT fix this bug. I tried it today on two different PCs (same hardware). The motherboard is an Intel AL440LX PII-233 with a PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Release 6.0. During post the CD drive is detected by the BIOS as an FX240S. The last couple lines on the screen are as follows: EIP: [d482b9ch] ide_execute_command+0x16/0x73 [ide_core] SS:ESP 0068:c030fe94 0Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Re: Bug#387767: Installation Failure
After receiving Frans Pop's e-mail stating that: The now available images are virtually identical to what will be released as D-I RC2,... I downloaded the Daily Built i386 netinst CD image, burned it to a disc and booted off of it. Unfortunately the same problem with hanging during the install still exists. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Friendly, Sven Luther Was etch frozen with 2.6.17 or 2.6.18 ?
