Thanks. I'm closing the bug now, since the kernel with the 3.4 DRM
backport has been uploaded to Debian (version 3.2.39-1).

Sounds good. Thanks again for the help with this bug report.

Kernel team: just another bug report from a user with a Fermi card who
found the Wheezy kernel unusable.

Installing using the latest Wheezy 7.0 Beta4 installer resulted in a
hung system after installation. The pre-boot install went okay. But
after the initial reboot the system was left with the following on the
 screen (manually transcribed):

   Loading, please wait...
   INIT: version 2.88 booting
Using makefile-style concurrent boot in runlevel S.
   Starting hotplug events dispatcher: udevd.
   Synthesizing the initial hotplug events...done.
Waiting for /dev to be fully populated...[ 5.270835] SP5100 TCO timer:

   [ 5.52] [drm] nouveau :01:00.0: unknown i2c port 59

And then it hangs. Nothing I can do will reboot it other than power
 cycling it.

This problem seems similar but different from
 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=696571 due to being
completely different hardware and different symptoms. But it is in
the same area. If it is the same then feel free to merge. If
different I thought it would be easier to have this in a separate
 report.

It's totally different from #696571, but it could be related to #694734.

Bob, could you please test Julien Cristau's kernel from [1] and follow
up on bug #687442? See the logs of that bug for details.

Sorry, I rather meant #690586/#690284, namely these symptoms:

   [ 5.697252] [drm] nouveau :01:00.0: unknown i2c port 51
   [ 5.74] [drm] nouveau :01:00.0: unknown i2c port 48

   [ 5.79] [drm] nouveau :01:00.0: unknown i2c port 57
   [ 5.52] [drm] nouveau :01:00.0: unknown i2c port 59

And then it hangs. Nothing I can do will reboot it other than power
 cycling it.

Cheers,
   Sven
