Hi,

Good to hear you have a workaround.  I've no idea why it's trying to
make such large memory allocations, but I have seen it before (since
squeeze) with drivers for much older Intel NICs.

Increasing the value of sysctl vm.min_free_kbytes may help with this.
Maybe try doubling it?
