Removing this control was a deliberate change:

This bug easy to fix, I don't know why did not I think of that before.

I made patch, it's working fine on src:linux from sid and experimental. 
Can you add it to jessie?

Dear maintainers,

After update to 3.14-1-amd64 USB Headset Plantronics GameCom 780 stop 
working.


lsusb:
Bus 003 Device 003: ID 047f:c010 Plantronics, Inc.

ALSA doesn't recognize them. On 3.13-1-amd64 working fine.
