Bug#632550: lintian needs newer debhelper
On Mon, 04, Jul, 2011 at 01:06:44AM +0200, Jakub Wilk spoke thus.. * Mark Hymers m...@debian.org, 2011-07-03, 14:37: Commit 1f2f20b9973bbea25f10372f5d951216f7379fbe added build-arch support to debian/rules which cases a FTBFS with debhelper versions older than 8.1.0 (noticed when backporting to squeeze). Huh? 1f2f20b9973bbea25f10372f5d951216f7379fbe added just two targets that are currently not used by any tool[0]. I can't see how it could possibly affect buildability of lintian. Ah sorry, it wasn't that commit after all (I did wonder). It was probably 8ad611e557ffbeda7ec4e86480ff0218a23f68bd which causes some of the test packages to build using dh build-arch: rules-build-dep-pattern: make[1]: Entering directory `/tmp/lintian/debian/tests/rules-build-dep-pattern/rules-build-dep-pattern-1.0' rules-build-dep-pattern: dh build-arch rules-build-dep-pattern: dh: Unknown sequence build-arch (choose from: binary binary-arch binary-indep build clean install) rules-build-dep-pattern: make[1]: *** [build-stamp] Error 9 rules-build-dep-pattern: make[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/lintian/debian/tests/rules-build-dep-pattern/rules-build-dep-pattern-1.0' rules-build-dep-pattern: dpkg-buildpackage: error: debian/rules build gave error exit status 2 The dependency still needs to be on debhelper = 8.1.0~ for that reason though so the solution was right even if the reasoning wasnt. Bug#632556: checks/deb-format: allow data.tar.xz
On Sun, 03 Jul 2011, Ansgar Burchardt wrote: Hi, please allow data.tar.xz in addition to data.tar.(gz|bz2). Support in dak will be coming soon. FWIW this bug is blocking the deployment of XZ-compressed .deb since dak will reject those deb until a fixed lintian is uploaded to backports.debian.org. It would be nice if you could thus prepare such a fixed lintian maybe sooner than usual. Bug#632669: lintian: no detection of shell-script-fails-syntax-check
Package: lintian Version: 2.5.1 Severity: normal Hi, assuming that there is a python package containing some ksh-scripts which are started from the python scripts (please don't ask for the purpose of this, it is an example from real life). The Build-Depends: of the source packages does not need to contain 'ksh', but only the Depends:-line of the binary package. If I build the package on a system without ksh installed, I get no output from lintian. After I install ksh, the same package produces lots of errors like 'shell-script-fails-syntax-check', which is ok. I admit that it is difficult to make any syntax checks without being able to use the needed shell. But could it be possible to print at least some warning that it is not possible to do this check?
