Package: lintian
Version: 1.23.38
Severity: normal
I have a package with an override containing:
init.d-script-not-marked-as-conffile /etc/init.d/apache2
The new lintian gives the following error:
E: apache2-mpm-worker: malformed-override init.d-script-not-marked-as-conffile
/etc/init.d/apache2

N: Lintian discovered an override entry with an invalid format. An
N: override entry should have the format:
N:
N: [ ]: [ ...]

N: where is the package name, the optional parameter specifies the
N: package type (binary is the default), is the tag to suppress, and is
N: any specific information for the particular tag to suppress.

1) The help message is incomplete.
2) file:///usr/share/doc/lintian/lintian.html/ch2.html#s2.4 says that the
package part is optional (including the colon) but lintian complains if it
is missing. Either lintian or the documentation needs to be fixed. I think
the package part being optional is good (I copy the same override file
into multiple packages), so lintian should be fixed.
