More changes have been made... Fingers crossed the package is okay
now!

still looking for a sponsor..

I am looking for a sponsor for rlplot, a GUI based program to generate
quality scientific graphs. It adds several features which are not readily
available with other plotting packages like gnuplot such as good support
for bar charts with error bars.

I have uploaded the packages to

Any comments welcomed.

doesn't have an Info page. Wait for new package with updated manpage.

mutiple binary package

2004-06-28 Thread Arnaud FLORENT

Hi

i want to build 2 packages that install two different versions of the
same program.

everything is shared between the 2 packages except the binary files.

i try to use the dh_make in multiple binary mode, but there is not a lot
of documentation!

i can't share the installation scripts (postinst) like i share the
directory creation.

i v' got a dirs file in the debian directory. The directory structure is
created for both package. that's great

but my postinst file in the installation script is only created in the
first package, not both!

so my questions are:
- is multiple binayr package the good way to do this?
- how cani share my installation scripts between package?

Thanks in advance,

amaroK tries to be a little different, providing a simple drag and drop
interface that really makes playlist handling easy.
 .
 Features include:
  - fresh playlist concept, very fast to use, with drag and drop
  - plays all formats supported by aRts, including mp3, ogg,
audio CDs, streams
  - audio effects, like reverb and compressor
  - compatible with the .m3u and .pls formats for playlists
  - nice GUI, integrates into the KDE look, but with a unique touch
 .
Both aRts and GStreamer support is available in packages amarok-arts and
amarok-gstreamer, respectively. NMM engine is not yet included.
 .
The xmms visualisation support is available in package amarok-xmms.

override? I will fix maintainer and changelog, i wanted to make another

amarok_xmmswrapper tho). libamarokarts.so is not a shared library but a

i v' got a dirs file in the debian directory. The directory structure is

It would be easier if you could provide us some URL to your work.

IMHO yes.

package1.anything and package2.anything ;)

amarok_xmmswrapper tho). libamarokarts.so is not a shared library but a
loadable module, i know this is a problem but it's upstream.

It can't go in /usr/lib then. It would have to go in /usr/lib/amarok/

It's not critical. Well, changing it is probably quite some work,

GNOME PPP can also dock into your

mutiple binary package

Thanks in advance,

audio CDs, streams
  - audio effects, like reverb and compressor
  - compatible with the .m3u and .pls formats for playlists
  - nice GUI, integrates into the KDE look, but with a unique touch
 .
Both aRts and GStreamer support is available in packages amarok-arts and
amarok-gstreamer, respectively. NMM engine is not yet included.

The xmms visualisation support is available in package amarok-xmms.

Yea, in the next upload. This one wasn't meant for unstable upload anyway
(it wasn't done in pbuilder, for one). So i didn't close the ITP bug.

Anyway, does this mean you are willing to upload the package for me? Btw, my

Delete them after 'make install' from debian/rules . You may tamper
with the Makefile as well, but be it as a last resort, only if the 'make
install' create big files/files after a long calculation etc, you got
the idea.

Hope this helps,

 First, amarok-* do depend on amarok... no idea what to do about that;
override? I will fix maintainer and changelog, i wanted to make another
build anyway. Manpage will be included as well (not for amarokapp or
amarok_xmmswrapper tho). libamarokarts.so is not a shared library but a
loadable module, i know this is a problem but it's upstream.

It can't go in /usr/lib then. It would have to go in /usr/lib/amarok/
or something instead.

It's not critical. Well, changing it is probably quite some work,
error-prone and means diverging from upstream. I will bug them about
 it tho.

No, that doesn't sound like it would be the right thing to do...

Okay understood. I didn't want to alter Makefiles, because my package
installs empty docs files in /usr/doc, but It looks like it's impossible
to build a deb package w/o total Makefile.am configure.in fixing,

RFS: netdump -- Dump kernel crash information over the network

2004-06-28 Thread Chirag Kantharia
[Second attempt for seeking a sponsor]

Hi!

I've uploaded netdump package to mentors.debian.net and am seeking for
a sponsor for this package.

The netdump client sets up the kernel to send crash dumps and/or
console messages as syslog packets to a remote system.

The netdump server listens to the network for crashed kernels to
contact it and then writes the oops log and a memory dump to
/var/crash before asking the crashed machine to reboot.

Netdump relies on CONFIG_NETCONSOLE=m set in the kernel configuration,
which is not present in 2.4 series Debian kernels, but is present in
2.6 series Debian kernels. So the package will not work with 2.4
Debian kernels.

More information about netdump can be got from:
http://www.redhat.com/support/wpapers/redhat/netdump/

I have got permission from netdump's current maintainer Jeff Moyer
[EMAIL PROTECTED] to include it in the Debian, and who is happy to
see its inclusion.

Regards,

Here's an improved version of the manpage. It still needs some work.

GNOME PPP is not only a accound configurer like wvdialconf. It is a
graphical frontend, a graphical dialer. It can dial, show status icon
and show some details, much like KPPP. I'll write it there. Also it
doesn't have an Info page. Wait for new package with updated manpage.

Your new manpage still contains superfluous material:

This manual page documents briefly the
 gnome-ppp command.

Superfluous.

This manual page was written for the Debian
   distribution because the original program
does not have a manual page.

Save this for the AUTHORS section.

gnome-ppp is a GNOME program for easy config-
uring and dialing PPP dialup accounts.

... for configuration and control of PPP dialup accounts.

  It
uses wvdial as its dialing backend and stor-
ing accound configuration in wvdial.conf for-
mat, that can be used by plain wvdial.

gnome-ppp is a front end for wvdial. Thus, PPP
accounts set up using gnome-ppp can be used if
you run wvdial from the command line.

  Cur-
rently it only supports one account per user,
but multiple accounts configuring is planned
  for near future.

Don't document features that are only promised. That is
useless information. If the feature is added later then
you can add a description of the feature to the man page
at that time.

GNOME PPP can also dock into your
  GNOME/XFCE4/others notification area and show
connection detail while connected. See pro-
  gram's setup window.

In the setup dialog you can configure gnome-ppp
to provide connection information in the desktop
notification area.

These programs follow the usual GNU command
line syntax, with long options starting with
  two dashes (`-').

Superfluous.

A summary of options is included below.

Superfluous.

For a complete description, see the Info files.

These files are not included so they should not be mentioned.

Hi,

I'm in the process of adopting the package 'motion' (Bug#254336). I'm

reflect new maintainership, plus various small fixes.

Regarding the debian/copyright: Should I leave the line 'This package

reflect new maintainership?

Thanks in advance.
