ITA and RFH for sawfish

2006-06-18 Thread Luis Rodrigo Gallardo Cruz
sawfish, a window manager implemented in lisp, has been orphaned by its
previous maintainer (#373702)

I would like to adopt it, but I would require help and an sponsor. sawfish
does not appear to be heavy on maintenance (upstream CVS shows 37
commits over the last year, there are 26 normal and 20 minor/wishlist bugs.
And, of course, one RC bug (#368546), which the previous maintainer has issues
with)

The kind of help required would basically revolve around the proper handling of
bugs.

I'm not yet on NM, but taking care of this package would be a good way
to get there, right?

Thanks.

The upstream doesn't provide any version information so there shouldn't be

Can't you use dates then? Like MMDD-a?

Anyway, I just saw a bug testing this for upload again...

You register the hyphenation one for hyph_hr_HR.dic but what's in dicts/
is actually hyph_hr.dic... So OOo of course doesn't show/recognize it.

After this is fixed (and maybe the version changed) I'll sponsor it.

 Hi all,

I uploaded a new package version to mentors.debian.net. The changelog
file lists all changes done. I think I addressed all problems which
 still remained.

http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/non-free/u/ is currently empty.

Huh?

A slight catch: I did not Inherit FontName in defoma.hints, as I
understand the defoma documentation this is not necessary as I declare
FontNameN for each entry. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I think you're right here. Good point.

I corrsponded with Walter Schmitd and Ralf Stubner about the license
problem concerning the missing modification notice in the modified
files. They will do a new corrected upstream release.

OK. We'll have to wait for this to happen.

About Florent's suggestion to change the path names from garamond to
garamond-no8 Walter's opinion is clearly against this. His reasons are
not the 8.3 limits, but he thinks that if one insists on doing things
right one also would have to change the fonts' registration from urw* to
ueg*. This would cause (too) much trouble and as only some experts
notice the incorrectness, it is better to leave things as they are.

Ahem, well... right...

 Huh?

mentors.debian.net just changed server/implementation/you-name-it. Users need to
re-register and re-upload their packages.

 Hi,
 When I say
 $dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -uc -us
 i'm getting the error saying
dpkg-parsechangelog: error: cannot open debian/changelog to find format: No

dpkg-buildpackage: unable to determine source package
I'm at the top level of the directory. I feel I'm supposed to edit rules file
in debian directory properly, where could I correct.

If it is a debian source then there must be a debian/changelog file,
which there is not. Either the source is not packages for debian or
you are in the wrong directory.

PS: debuild -us -uc does the same with less keystrokes

 It's just a personal taste.

It is also how lists should be handled in certain languages (like Brazilian
