RFS: xulrunner-l10n

2007-12-10 Thread arenevier
Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package xulrunner-l10n.

  Package name: xulrunner-l10n
  Version : 1.8.1-1
Upstream Author : Mozilla Project and Mozilla Localization Projects
  URL : http://www.mozilla.org/projects/l10n/
License : GPL LGPL MPL (tri-licence)
  Section : devel

That package would be useful for developing xulrunner based applications, or
packaging them into debian: an application with some locales could depend on
related xulrunner-l10n packages, and therefore, texts belonging in xulrunner
toolkit (such as ok-cancel buttons label, http errors, ...) would be
automatically translated.

I've taken inspiration in iceweasel-l10n-fr for that package. It build 43
language packages, and additionally meta package xulrunner-l10n-all.

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix these bugs: 440938

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/x/xulrunner-l10n
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main
contrib non-free
- dget
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/x/xulrunner-l10n/xulrunner-l10n_1.8.1-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards
 arno renevier

Re: rpath issue on 64 bit architectures

2007-12-10 Thread Francesco Namuri

Hi Jan,

I had to do the option for a patch on aclocal.m4 and configure
scripts with dpatch on build-time.

On aclocal4 and configure the changes are (for each occurrence): -
hardcode_into_libs=yes +  hardcode_into_libs=no

-hardcode_into_libs=$hardcode_into_libs +hardcode_into_libs=no

I haven't looked into your case, but unless I'm mistaken you
shouldn't need to patch aclocal.m4 if you're already patching the
configure script. You should either patch aclocal.m4 in case the
configure script will be re-generated on build-time (which is
unlikely your case) or patch the configure script directly. Or am I
missing something?

I can only say, I replaced 30 occurences of the upper and three
occurences of the lower change in my package's configure script
(package

gwyddion). This patch gets applied correctly and the lines in the
configure script read correctly hardcode_into_libs=no.
Still, the linker gets the --rpath /usr/lib option passed and the
rpath

gets built in... :-(

I'll investigate further, just wanted to share this...
Any news on your side, Francesco?

Hi Jan,
in this period I'm very busy, I haven't tested the patch to aclocal.m4,
the only test that I've done last week has been the patch of libtool
after

the call of ./configure...
The one proposed in the wiki page [1], by Marcelo Magallon, in this way
you get all the calls to --rpath to -D__LIBTOOL_IS_A_FOOL__ :),
I don't know if it's a bad or good solution, my original question on
this thread

was this one...
Consider that you can restrict the patch of libtool only to 64 bit
architectures...

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
francesco

Some comments on your package:

debian/copyright contains boilerplate that you should *READ*, take
action and then remove!

done

remove the configure target if debian/rules, it isn't used

the short description should not just be the first line of the long
description. use something like "display IMAP quota status in icedove"

done

You run dh_installman while not installing any manual pages, why?

done

Why is the package arch any? none of the installed files seem to be
architecture specific

You run dh_strip on a package that should be arch all, why?

done

You run dh_installexamples while not installing any examples, why?

done

The upstream tarball doesn't seem to have any copyright information or
a licence, so by default we have no right to distribute it. No sponsor
should upload this package.

The upstream tarball has a prebuilt .jar that contains a DEADJOE file,
upstream should remove that DEADJOE file. It would be nice if upstream
could release a *source code* tarball as well as the prebuilt jar.

You don't include a debian/watch file and a debian/rules
get-orig-source target that knows how to recreate your .orig.tar.gz
from the files that upstream provides

How can i do in this case for the watch file?
version 0.2
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/downloads/file/20318/display_quota-0.2-tb.xpi
version 0.1.10.2
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/downloads/file/4309/display_quota-0.1.10.2-tb.xpi

The folders name-number change with no sequence.
I research on other extension like enigmail, but, no have watch file..

I had a first look through the package. Several of the debian patches
look like they belong upstream. Since you're him ;) Is there a reason
they have not been included?

Also, some changes from -2.1 to -3 are patches to upstream but are not
in a separate patch but included in the .diff.gz Please separate them.

Indeed there is. Those patches were made after the 1.8.4 version was
released and there isn't going to be a 1.8.5 version (well, that was the
plan, I may yet release it) those patches end up in Debian. They are
upstream, just in a later version.

Also, some changes from -2.1 to -3 are patches to upstream but are not
in a separate patch but included in the .diff.gz Please separate them.

I've just noticed the patch to blam.desktop.in.in, which I'll separate.

I think the reason Makefile.{am,in} are patched directly is because the
patches are applied too late in the process and by then the Makefile has
already been created.

This seems like it shouldn't be the case so I'll try again, but I do
remember trying to put the Makefile.{am,in} changes in a patch and not
being able to.

Just to clarify, kmfl is often used in a multilingual situation where
documents are written in multiple languages and for languages which
often do not have a locale associated with them.

In that case, the best way is probably using all_ALL.

Do I understand correctly that if SCIM is set up to handle all_ALL, then
the above situation would be addressed? On all the systems I have used
all_ALL is set to default not SCIM. I am very willing to not do anything
with setting up SCIM startup provided SCIM will be the default for
locales such as en_US, en_CA, etc, if not other IM is defined for these
 locales.

Scim package is already set up to handle all_ALL, it just doesn't set it
to default (and it shouldn't). I believe no packages that currently use
im-switch change all_ALL by default. I feel the best way to handle the
situation in scim-kmfl-engine is to have a debconf question explaining
the need to use GTK+ IM module, then offer to set it, with default to no
(I still don't think it shouldn't be changed unless the user/admin
explicitly asks). And when the answer to the question is yes, do things
along the line of update-alternatives --set xinput-all_ALL
/etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/scim-immodule or im-switch -z all_ALL -s
scim-immodule.

If you look at the uscan manual page, you will see that something like
this should work:

https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/thunderbird/addon/881
/fr/thunderbird/downloads/file/\d+/display_quota-([\d\.]*)-tb.xpi

Then write a debian/rules get-orig-source target that downloads the
.xpi file, unzips it, removes the stuff that isn't needed and creates
a tarball. Of course, that wouldn't be nessecary if you can get
upstream to release the source code as well.

Knowing (a) what package-name is, and (b) what exactly you did that
matches what apt-get -b does would be helpful.

It might be better asking on Ubuntu-specific fora; Ubuntu does change the
way things work from a stock Debian system, so there may well be an
Ubuntu-specific problem at play.
