Re: RFS: nbc
Hi Sebastian, Would you mind explaining why lazarus-ide is required to build this package? I'd strongly dislike installing all kinds of X libraries to build a package that is completely unrelated to X/GTK. Thanks, Michael Hi Michael, I also strongly dislike to install all kinds of X libraries for building the package and tried to avoid it, but nbc is using Graphics package from lazarus and the needed file[1] for this is unfortunately in the lazarus-ide package. Did you try to contact the maintainer of the lazarus package about this? Maybe it could be split out into a separate package, or maybe also put that stuff in the lazarus-src package? If it is only about a single file, it might also make sense to just ship it with nbc. Maybe also upstream has some clues whether lazarus is really the only way to go. Further, many files lack license headers. Bother upstream to fix this, otherwise this is not distributable. And, well, please add a clean target to the Makefile, otherwise your package cannot be build twice in a row or the like. Best, Michael pgp2yp9e3XZ2R.pgp Description: PGP signature

It's time for my first brown paper bag release ;( libmx4j-java 3.0.2-5 won't build |1] because I've made two mistakes : - I've moved some java libraries from B-D to B-D-I without thinking this particular package have an architecture-dependent package (libmx4j-java-gcj). To build this package, we rebuild a JAR file then dh_nativejava in the build target of debian/rules so we need to keep all this libs in B-D. A pbuilder env. auto install B-D *and* B-D-I so I haven't seen this when building locally. I'm currently setting up a local sbuild... - openjdk-6-jdk is not available on m68k and s390 wheras java-gcj-compat is. libmx4j-java is a dependency of java-gcj-compat-headless which in turn is a dependency of java-gcj-compat-dev | default-jdk-builddep. So with this 3.0.2-5 upload, java-gcj-compat-dev or default-jdk-builddep were uninstallable on those arch because of a missing openjdk-6-jdk. I'm really sorry for all this garbage. I hope someone will sponsor my new 3.0.2-6 soon to revert this nasty issues. Sorry, I too missed that, but there still seems to be some problem. The new package still fails to build on many archs and I am not sure why. Could you please check? Re: RFS: tmux (updated package)
Hello, On Thu, 12 Mar 2009, Paul Wise wrote: This sounds very much like 'screen', what advantages does it have over 'screen'? Just quoting from the FAQ: * How is tmux different from GNU screen? What else does it offer? tmux offers several advantages over screen: - a clearly-defined client-server model: windows are independent entities which may be attached simultaneously to multiple sessions and viewed from multiple clients (terminals), as well as moved freely between sessions within the same tmux server; - a consistent, well-documented command interface, with the same syntax whether used interactively, as a key binding, or from the shell; - easily scriptable from the shell; - multiple paste buffers; - choice of vim or emacs key layouts; - an option to limit the window size; - a more usable status line syntax, with the ability to display the first line of output of a specific command; - a cleaner, modern, easily extended, BSD-licensed codebase. Some of these (preferably not just the last!) should be chosen and added to the package description. Currently upstream considers UTF-8 support to be in need of improvement. In addition, you can run the checker `lintian' on the .changes file; it will give you a lot of useful stylistic comments.
