I think what Michael is asking is whether you've read through the upgrading-checklist file (which is part of the debian-policy package) to see if the changes in Debian Policy really do not affect your package, or if there is a chance that some of the changes in Policy means that your package needs to change in some way. You can find the upgrading checklist in the /usr/share/doc/debian-policy/ directory in several formats after installing the debian-policy package. Please ignore the version 1.4.4; this is a new upstream release and too many changes occurs in the package, we will work on it after Squeeze freeze work. There is a an issue with 1.4.2-2 [1] and we have discussed this with release team [2]. Sorry about that. The error was due to the -R flag that was passed to dh_installinit in the past release: it prevented the upgrade process from stopping the daemon before the new installation started. I have corrected this behavior by adding a preinst script that stop the daemon. But I'm not sure this is the best way to go. Is it? Here are the relevant parts of the new changelog: / | tenshi (0.11-2) unstable; urgency=low | | * debian/control: |(...) | - Set debhelper dependency back to (= 7) as dh_overrides are not used by | debian/rules anymore. | * debian/rules: | - Removed the dh_installinit override, in order to stop the tenshi script | before upgrading the package.
