Re: Become Maintainer of an Package when DD/Maintainer can't upload anymore ...
Hi, ask the current maintainer to add you, upload on mentors [1] and ask for a RFS (you can see the template once the package has been uploaded) [1] http://mentors.debian.net/ You should also understand *why* the current maintainer/developer can't upload anymore... expired key? he got removed? he isn't interested anymore? anyway, you can also do the job by yourself, and upload on mentors. In the RFS bug add a link to an existing discussion (public) where the maintainer answered you something like "I can't upload because of, but feel free to add yourself and ask for a sponsor" cheers, G. I'm the maintainer of LIBLINEAR, a package related to LIBSVM. I pinged the maintainer of LIBSVM a while ago. He indicated that he's still interested in maintaining it, but had to schedule the time. I'll ping the maintainer again, and see whether he can make the time soon. In any case, LIBSVM's structure is very similar to LIBLINEAR, so an up to date packaging could be taken from the latter and adapted to the former. Regards, Christian

I've uploaded the fixed version to mentors again: https://mentors.debian.net/package/variety. This packages the newest release (0.5.5 instead of 0.5.4), which was released while the package was in NEW. Also, I've demoted yelp from depends to recommends, since nothing in the source requires it directly, and added a rule for dh_auto_clean to remove autogenerated .pot files, so that successive builds work. Since this is the first upload, I removed everything that was in the changelog and replaced it with Initial Debian Release. Dear Mentors, I'm struggling with the creation of a Debian package. The problem is the hardening part. I tried everything what the Hardening Guide suggested, but no success so far. Lintian always throws a lot of warning about hardening-no-relro: Now running lintian... W: eclipse-titan: hardening-no-relro usr/bin/compiler W: eclipse-titan: hardening-no-relro usr/bin/mctr_cli W: eclipse-titan: hardening-no-relro usr/bin/tcov2lcov W: eclipse-titan: hardening-no-relro usr/bin/ttcn3_logfilter ... and so on. Here is my debian/rules file: #!/usr/bin/make -f export DEB_BUILD_MAINT_OPTIONS = hardening=+all %: dh $@ override_dh_auto_install: $(MAKE) DESTDIR=$$(pwd)/debian/eclipse-titan prefix=/usr install cp -aR $$(pwd)/Install/bin/* $$(pwd)/debian/eclipse-titan/usr/bin/ cp -aR $$(pwd)/Install/include/* $$(pwd)/debian/eclipse-titan/usr/include/titan/ cp -aR $$(pwd)/Install/lib/* $$(pwd)/debian/eclipse-titan/usr/lib/titan/ cp -aR $$(pwd)/Install/man/man1/* $$(pwd)/debian/eclipse-titan/usr/share/man/man1/ cp -aR $$(pwd)/Install/demo/* $$(pwd)/debian/eclipse-titan/usr/share/titan/demo/ cp -aR $$(pwd)/Install/etc/* $$(pwd)/debian/eclipse-titan/usr/share/titan/etc/ mv $$(pwd)/debian/eclipse-titan/usr/bin/ttcn3_archive.pl $$(pwd)/debian/eclipse-titan/usr/share/titan/etc/scripts/ rm -fR $$(pwd)/debian/eclipse-titan/usr/share/titan/etc/asciiart/ cp -aR $$(pwd)/Install/help/* $$(pwd)/debian/eclipse-titan/usr/share/titan/help/ I don't know what's the problem here. Can somebody help me to solve this please? Thank you very much! BR, Gergely Pilisi

Control: tags -1 moreinfo Control: owner -1 ! Hi, please use this watch file 1) http://pypi.debian.net/attic/watch I tried a uscan --debug --force-download and the current watch file in git just doesn't work 2) control: priority should be extra 3) (this is a showstopper) - python3-msgpack (>= 0.1.10), libssl1.0.2 + python3-msgpack (>= 0.1.10) please remove libssl1.0.2 from runtime dependencies. it is automagically added by shlibs:Depends (please double check the built deb file without that dependency inside DEBIAN/control) cheers, G. Can somebody help me to solve this >please? you can start by: export DH_VERBOSE=1, try to enable VERBOSE builds in your package, look if flags are overridden somewhere e.g. in makefiles a line like "LDFLAGS =" means: do not use externally passed link flags lines like ./Makefile.cfg:LDFLAGS = $(MINGW) ./etc/autotest/titan_builder.py: makefile_cfg_new.write('LDFLAGS = %s\n' % config['ldflags']) ./compiler2/makefile.c: "LDFLAGS = %s%s\n\n" might give you hints or be source of troubles anyway I don't see any LDFLAGS in the build log e.g. g++ -fPIC -o mctr_cli Cli_main.o MctrError.o MainController.o UserInterface.o config_data.o ../../common/memory.o ../../common/config_preproc.o ../../common/config_preproc_la.o ../../common/config_preproc_p.tab.o ../../common/path.o ../../common/NetworkHandler.o ../../common/Path2.o ../../core/RInt.o ../../core/Textbuf.o ../cli/libcli.a ../editline/build/src/.libs/libedit.a \ -lcrypto -lncurses -lpthread and BTW you shouldn't in my opinion use static libraries (well, they are internal so you might even not consider this as a problem) find . -name configure.ac ./mctr2/editline/libedit/configure.ac you might want to run autoreconf here ^^^ cheers, G.
